(OOC: You said earlier that it's late in the day, right? Is it still light inside the temple? Is there light in the hallway? Are the stairs themselves lit? Can we see anything at the top of the stairs, like a landing or a door? I'm trying to decide whether it makes sense for Xanrym to scout ahead, but that only makes sense if we don't need the lantern or Theldrin's light to see.)
The stairs are in a kind of stairwell, they go up to another stairwell on the next level. There's nothing out of the ordinary here, no one waiting for you or any traps or anything like that.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
With Liarin-Wolf in front, I think that our marching order is back to option 1. Avery in rear-guard, and Xanrym following Liarin-Wolf side-by-side with Theldrin.
Xanrym has stowed his lantern and carries his loaded crossbow. He's trying to move quietly behind the big wolf.
Interesting, you move through the hallways of the temple and up the stone stairs with a silent purpose. As you reach the top of the stairs, you find yourself in a bare room that contains only some wooden benches, and 6 skeletons standing against the walls between them. The room is eerily silent.

(OOC: Are there any other doors out of this room? Or are you saying that the stairs led up to a room with no other exits? How big is the room? Can Liarin and Avery fight side-by-side?)
Xanrym waves Avery forward, expecting that they won't get through this room without being attacked. He watches the eerie skeletons standing silent guard and whispers, "If this were a story, undead guards would not surprise me after seeing troglodytes and giants in service of this cult. I guess that Misha used some foul necromancy to command those skeletons to guard the room from intruders."
Xanrym stays back at the door into the room and aims his crossbow at one of the skeletons. He readies an attack to fire at the skeleton if he sees it move at all. He lets Liarin-Wolf and Avery enter the room first to get to the other exit (if there's another door other than the one that they entered) or to search the room.
I should have mentioned there are two other doors out of this room. Both in the south, but one further along than the other.
As Avery and Liarin enter the room, the six skeletons step out from their alcoves in the wall and pull out swords. One immidiately receives an arrow to the shoulder, which blasts it off completely, that skeleton is looking pretty worse for wear immediately. I'll roll initiative for you all:
Group 1: Avery, Liarin
Group 2: Skeletons
Group 3: Theldrin, Xanrym
Avery and Liarin are up. But don't forget to choose a target and roll your attack and damage for your readied Firebolt Theldrin.
(OOC: Did you scale that map? Or is that the version with 10' squares? If it's the original 10' squares, the character tokens are too big. Here's an attempt at a 5'-square battle map. I downloaded your version, did some fancy copy-and-paste to remove the tokens, added a 5' grid, and added the tokens back with Liarin's dire wolf controlling a 10' square.)
Thanks for that Xanrym, i'm actually using a slightly different method. The squares are 10ft in size, and the tokens are the same size, the only thing that's different from 5ft square combat is that the distances are different, and you can choose to stand in the same square as another player if you wish. I'll link to an article that explains it.

Avery moves forward and breaks the first skeleton apart into a hundred pieces. The rest of it's undead friends move forward to attack. Two slice at Wolf-Liarin, while another attacks Avery. The two that cannot get into melee fires their bows at Theldrin and Xanrym.
Shortsword against Avery Attack: 22 Damage: 6 Piercing
Shortsword against Liarin Attack: 6 Damage: 3 Piercing
Shortsword against Liarin Attack: 7 Damage: 3 Piercing
Shortbow against Theldrin Attack: 15 Damage: 3 Piercing
Shortbow against Xanrym Attack: 24 Damage: 4 Piercing
The sound of battle rages throughout the room, you all are up.

If there is light and room, Liarin will lead the way up the stairs in dire wolf form.

Theldrin will keep Light going if needed, otherwise will dismiss the spell. He takes a moment to examine the area around the base of the stairs.

In case the readied attack triggers:
Attack skeleton, Crossbow, Light (80/320): 18, Damage: 6
Theldrin will also ready an action to shoot a Fire Bolt at the nearest skeleton he sees start to move.

As soon as he sees the skeletons start to move, Theldrin aims his Fire Bolt at the one closest to Avery.
