Also, i didn't know this rerolling 1's thing was so common. I've always played with just 4d6 drop the lowest so for consistency's sake lets stick with that
Thanks! Works for me.
I was initially thinking of a cleric, but since I was lucky enough to roll 16 / 16 / 15 / 13 / 10 / 9, I think that I'll change course and go with a class that will benefit more from having three scores >= 16, like monk, barbarian, paladin, ranger, or bard.
Two more questions: 1. Did you omit half-elf from your list of demi-humans, or did you really mean to exclude that race? 2. When are you closing recruiting for this campaign?
Also, i didn't know this rerolling 1's thing was so common. I've always played with just 4d6 drop the lowest so for consistency's sake lets stick with that
Sorry i don't have a way of allowing you to play a Kobold. Probably best to run a character sheet in dndbeyond that i can actually check. You could always roll a different character with a race you do have access to in dndbeyond
It’s completely understandable if you don’t want me to, but I could make the character sheet on DnD beyond using a race with the same ability score increases, and then just using the abilities of a kobold and stuff and ignoring the original race abilities. This is how I usually play with races that I only have physically and not on DnD beyond, and it’s kinda inconvenient so it’s understandable if you don’t want me to. In which case I’ll make another character with the races I do have access to.
Crafty owes his life to the Citadel of eight. Years ago when Crafty was young, the adventurers saved him by defeating a band of orcs that were threatening the Kobold Warren. Crafty, inspired by them, taught himself numerous skills over many years, hoping that he could eventually help them in return. One day, he met with one of the agents of the citadel of Eight, and asked to join them as one of their agents. Now he is traveling to (insert city name, I forgot it at this moment) in order to figure out what’s going on, and try to stop whatever’s happening, at the order of the Citadel. He hasn’t visited his Warren since he became an agent of the Citadel.
Crafty was always a smart Kobold. He learned how to set traps and how to trick people, and is very proud of his skills. He loves talking to other people, and likes learning new things about the world, to the point where he goes and steals books and scrolls while nobody is looking.
character sheet: Crafty (it says high elf, just ignore that stuff because he’s going to be using the stats of a Volo’s Kobold)
“Terror by night! The village of Orlane Is dying. Once a small and thriving community. Orlane has become a maze of locked doors and frightened faces. Strangers are shunned, trade has withered. Rumors flourish, growing wilder with each retelling. Terrified peasants flee their homes, abandoning their farms with no expla- nation. Others simply disappear...
No one seems to know the cause of the decay —why are there no clues? Who skulks through the twisted shadows of the night? Who or what Is behind the doom that has overtaken the village? It will take a brave and skillful band of adventurers to solve the dark riddle of Orlane!”
Recruiting for an old school Greyhawk adventure ‘Against the Cult of the Reptile God’, set north of the Kingdom of Keoland before the Greyhawk Wars, CY 568. I’m going for a darker, sword and sorcery, low magic tone but still ran in DnD 5e. There will be some race restrictions:
Note that there may be some class restrictions on Demi-Human and Humanoid classes. For example you’d need to give a good reason for the existence of a Dwarf Wizard or a Bugbear Paladin.
Additionally, if playing a Humanoid race, you should expect people to be distrustful and downright hostile toward you.
Detailed here are some of the factions in this part of Greyhawk so you can further tie your character to the setting:
Citadel of Eight: Famous adventuring party now against political domination. All high level but have agents and servants everywhere.
Knights of the Watch: Sworn to defend the Flanaess from Ket and the Baklunish threat.
Church of St. Cuthbert: Cuthbertines travel the rural parts of the Flanaess bringing righteousness to the evils of the land.
The Old Faith: Under the Archdruid. This organisation of naturalists protect the beauty of nature against the rise of those that would destroy it.
Mouqollad Consortium: United merchant clans of the Baklunish nations making economical headways into the Flanaess.
You can use the standard array for character creation, or roll in here if you feel like it.
Hello! I've never played a game set in Greyhawk, but it sounds like a lot of fun. By the way, could you provide information about our starting level and equipment?
Ability scores:151013131615
Name: Ryo
Race: Half Elf
Class: Warlock: The Genie
Background: Charlatan
Back story :
Ryo was a poor orphan street kid who earned his daily bread by picking pockets and various scams. One day, an old sorcerer came to Ryo and offered him the chance of a century.
The old man opened the gate of a mysterious cave filled with gold and treasures, telling the boy that he could take anything he wanted but bring back an old oil lamp. The sorcerer even offered Ryo a magical ring that contained a noble genie to help him. Ryo agreed to the deal. Then he stole the old man's arcane focus, kicked him into the cave, and closed the door. He released the genie from her jail. They immediately became friends and started a new adventure.
Later… the sorcerer returned and sought revenge on Ryo. The Citadel of Eight saved the young man, and now he was sent to investigate the strange incident that happened in the village of Orlane.
Thank you for letting me play. I am not new to RPG, but haven't played in about 30 years and have never played this way. I am a half-elf ranger, probably closest to the Old Faith.

I been raised in a small woodland village. My father was an Elven Druid and mother mother a human dressmaker. I learned early that my father expected me to follow his Druidic path into the order and conscribe himself to worship of Beory alone. But I chose a different path, one that my father did not agree with. So at he age of 16 I struck out on my own, studying and practicing in order to join the Rangers of the Gnarley forest.
Now age 22 I walk the forests alone, seeking those who would harm her or her many inhabitants.
Since you didn't say whether we should drop 1s with rolled ability scores...
Not dropping ones:

Seeing that there weren't many arcane casters in the mix, I was going to go with a variant human wizard. But when I saw werelemur's post, I went back to the bard that I had started to build.
Name: TBD Race: Variant Human Class: Bard (College of Lore at LVL 3) Background: Sage
The concept for this character is less of a musician / social butterfly and more of a story teller / scholar. He's fascinated by history, obscure facts, old legends, and hidden secrets. He's smooth and polished but somewhat serious and reserved. Think less "rock star" and more "Rupert Giles," and you're in the right neighborhood. :-)
After years of study, he has finally gotten the opportunity to travel more and see some of the places that he's only read about in history books. He's hoping to write his own book some day, and he's trying to collect information about the land and the peoples. He doesn't tell anyone, but he also dreams of having his own adventures like the ones in some of the old epics.
Of the Geyhawk factions, he would probably fit best in the Citadel of Eight or in the Mouqollad Consortium. Maybe the stories of the famous adventuring party were his favorites, and his interest finally brought him into contact with the Citadel of Eight, where he has recently become and agent. Then again, I imagined him as a traveler from a distant land, so maybe the Mouqollad Consortium makes more sense. He may not really be invested in that faction's goals, but he was willing to work for that faction just to get the opportunity to travel the world.
I've built a character like this before, and a College of Lore Bard is very flexible. I can tweak the skill, feat, and spell selection to cover gaps once I see who else is selected for the party. His abilities would let him fill a role as a party face, a sneaky scout, or a lore master, depending on what skills he takes. I don't know how much the characters will level during the adventure, but at third level, he'll get an additional 3 skills and expertise in 2 of his skills. With just a few known spells, I generally try to avoid having too much overlap with the other spell casters in the party. Once I see who is in the party, I can adjust his spell selection to focus on healing and buffs, control and debuffs, or damage and utility spells. For now, I just selected a few good spells that would be useful in a combat-heavy game just based on what I remember from other old AD&D modules!
Thank you everyone for sending through your well thought out characters. Those players i've decided to run for have been messaged and will begin the adventure in a day or so. For those that didn't get a message i'm sorry but know that it wasn't because your character wasn't good or i didn't want to play with you, i just liked the makeup of a particular party that your character didn't fit in.
The Inn of the Grey Chain is busy tonight. It's been doing good business since the darkness fell on Orlane. Travellers and merchants are warned away from staying in the village proper, so they now congregate at this small inn around a mile away. Any traveller that arrives after 9, like yourselves, are all seated together at a communal table in the corner of the inn. While this table is furthest from the bar, it also is the most secluded, people on this table can talk without the fear of being overheard by others. Apart from the usual travellers and merchants, tonight there is also family seated near the door. The word is that they are farmers fleeing from Orlane.
So you are all sitting at the same table in the corner. You can use this opportunity to introduce your characters, talk to one another, or talk to some of the other patrons at the Inn of the Grey Chain.
Avery sits with his back to the corner, a tankard before him. He wears black chainmail that is rather worn and dusty, a greatsword is leaned up against the wall. An old, rather beat up tabard covers his mail, showing a clenched red fist. He hold his tankard up to the group at the table. "Greetings fellow patrons and seeker of warmth and sprits on a dark and dreary night, Sergeant Avery at your service, formerly of the Bloody Fist Company that is no more. Are you here as well in seek of employment like I?"

So you’re okay with me just making the character and using the kobold stats when actually playing? Alrighty, thanks
And yes still recruiting
