Nodjeim is saddened to kill the caged animals but cannot argue the need to do so. These were not pets or even normal wild animals, if not dealt with now they would be used against the party and give their foe much greater odds. He assists in dispatching them as efficiently and quietly as possible...
"We could try to hole up somewhere for the night and rest but I fear we'd be at even more disadvantage if we were discovered while some slept than if we just press on now," he offers to the others.
How are you dispatching the hyenas? Obviously if you make too much ruckus they might awake and make noise. Also keep in mind that there are two much larger and scarier hyenas.
Evelyn shakes her head at Olan. "I'm afraid I don't know the spell that would let me see in the dark yet," she says. "I'll need some sort of light or maybe I could get by with holding on to someone? But that would slow us down."
The wizard looks mournfully toward the hyenas. She looks away while the others kill them, trying to block out the sounds of their yelps. While necessary for their own survival, it feels so wrong and cruel, especially since they are caged and cannot defend themselves. Evelyn wonders if she is quite cut out for this adventuring business sometimes.

Unless someone has a better idea Nodjeim is just going to go around jabbing them with the pointy end of his sphere until they are finished off. It surely is not super quick or quiet but one can only do what one can do. Singing a lullaby to them won't make it quicker or faster. Though regarding the noise, he can only imagine the animals get riled up from time to time because of a stray animal passing by or a fight over food scraps or such so surely total silence isn't needed?
Nodjeim's heard the gnolls communicating during fights and while observing them. Their language, while also containing some coherent syllables, also contains a number of yips, growls, and other utterances. There are not "words," so much as there are variations in tone, length, volume, et cetera. While thinking about the hyenas getting riled up from time to time, he's certainly correct to think that total silence would not entirely be expected. However, a yelp of excitement or unrest is certainly different from one of pain or fear. There's a large chance that, if they get too loud and let too many fearful sounds out, the gnolls may be capable of understanding them in some limited capacity, and may come out to check.

While the hyenas are being dealt with Olan will keep watch at the cave entrance, ready to put a barbed arrow into anything that tries to come out and investigate.
If you are choosing to go ahead with wiping out the hyenas one by one, I'd like one person to roll a "skill check" using your modifier to attack, which will determine the precision, speed, and efficiency with which you dispatch the hyenas. If you roll low enough, it will be assumed that enough abnormal noise has been generated to cause a problem. You can roll with advantage since multiple people are working towards this.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Instead of killing the hyena's, Threla will be the one to watch the mouth of the cave, using her 120 feet of darkvision to make sure no gnolls are approaching from within the bowels of the cave
Nodjeim will make an Animal Handling check to dispatch the beasts quickly and quietly as possible. Stealyh or Sleight of hand would have a better bonus but Animal Handling just seems to be the one that actually makes sense. Animal Handling w/Adv: 14
(As I said, it'd be a check using your attack bonus, so that would be a +8, not a +2, for a total of 20.)
Nodjeim and Veldruk are able to dispatch every ordinary hyena one by one, quickly and bloodlessly. However, two gigantic hyenas still remain slumbering in one cage, very clearly too large to be easily dispatched by a single person.

(What's the party's plan with the big hyenas? They are sleeping, so attacks against them will have advantage and will auto-crit, but there is potential for not enough damage output to come at once. Also, everyone attacking one at once has a high chance of waking the other.)

((Sorry, you had said use your modifier to attack and I read that as to use the skill's modifier to attack, not use the attack modifier to adjust the skill. But all good...))
With the ordinary hyenas dispatched Nodjeim takes a moment to catch his breath and steady his own calm - He had been concerned that the killing would cause a ruckus which could lead to more foes steaming down after the party but instead it seems they were able to dispatch them quickly and quietly without undue attention. But now? Nodjeim doesn't think this big boys will go down so quietly... Still, he has no better scheme in mind and nobody else is speaking up with one of their own.
Once he has re-settled himself Nodjeim takes a breath and then moves into position to attack the first of the large hyenas with his spear... "We should all attack as one," he says with a steady calmness in his voice. "Best to try to assure we put one down for sure and then move on to the next, I think..." He waits a few more moments for the others to ready themselves. "On three, then?"
(Everyone who's attacking, take a full round of whatever actions you'd like to take against these sleeping hyenas. Roll to hit with advantage and then roll automatic crit damage. You're trying to hit AC 10. I'm going to be assigning a certain amount of noise to each attack, depending on the type of attack. You can sacrifice a bonus action to roll either Sleight of Hand or Arcana to make the attack quieter, but that might sacrifice a BA you'd otherwise use for something else, such as Nodjeim's bonus action attack. At the end of this round, I'm going to roll perception for the remaining hyena, with the DC determined by how much noise you make. If it beats the check, it wakes.)

"Whilst my vision isn't as good in the dark, I'm ok up to about 60' so should be able to take some out at range."
Olan looks at Evelyn and Nodjeim "Do you have any dark vision? Maybe from a spell or power?"

OOC: are there any gnolls or other monsters Threla can see inside the cave?

OOC: interesting. I'll wait for everyone to roll for dispatching the hyena's, then we can move forward
