Once the human warrior was resting comfortably — or, as comfortable as one could get in this forgotten, evil place — Aria was emboldened. Her previous bout of uncertainty seemed to have passed. She gripped the hilt of her rapier eagerly, and looked to her mentor for permission to join the fray.
Meanwhile, Volneer and Kneecap focused their efforts on taking out the malignant fungus. Between the sorcerer's flame and the dwarf's hammer ... the violet fungus was no more.
The ghoul kept up its series of attacks agains the heavily armored dwarf ... but his gnashing teeth and raspy, flesh-tearing tongue could find no purchase.

With a simple nod to Aria indicating permission to engage, Dorn will lead aria into combat: Dorn will move through his companions and circle around the ghoul while kneecap keeps him distracted. He will end his movement by being on the opposite side of the Ghoul as kneecap, and pierce W/ his Rapier
Dorn, Aria, Kneecap and Volneer focused their efforts against the ghoul. But the flames missed and the melee attacks found no undead flesh beneath their blades and hammers.
"Fools!" The ghoul cackled. "Ghaunadaur watches over his faithful! You are not worthy foes of the Lord of Slime ... you are MEAT!
And then the ghoul raked his foul claws across Kneecap's exposed flesh ... the dwarf immediately felt a wave of numbness begin to wash over him as the paralytic effect started to take hold!
In the midst of the heroes' clash with the ghoul cultist in the decrepit abattoir, an ominous silence descended upon the chamber after the ghoul injured the dwarf.
A wet, sickening, slurping sort of sound reached their ears, drawing the adventurers' attention to the neglected fountain that the ghoul had been lowering hunks of meat into earlier.
From the edge of the putrid basin, a creeping darkness emerged, once thought to be nothing more than an oil slicked pool of repugnant water, it was in reality ... another ooze monster! Although this one was much smaller than the last ochre beast ... and far more pallid. Slowly — inexorably — the gray creature slithered forth, leaving a slimy trail of acidic destruction in its wake. This was a creature driven solely by hunger and relentless malevolence. With every insatiable lurch, the ooze reminded the heroes of the perils associated with dungeon delving ... and the dire life-or-death fight that loomed ahead of them.

Dorn, seeing another enemy appear to the left of him instinctively repositions himself 5 feet further back from the ooze, next to Aria. He will draw his Rapier and attempt to pierce the ghoul.
“We will feed your stinking corpse to the ooze, unless you’d enjoy that, in which case we won’t! Haha!” laughs Kneecap. Feeling the need to end this ghoul, he will use his inspiration on his attack roll.
Calim feels the rush of night, calm and crisp, as his body lies in uneasy slumber. Catching quick words around him. "...on his feet!" He uses all his force to rise, to aid his comrades. Nothing. "Friend..." He feels the blush of hope, the protection of a clan...a party. He remembers circling up, shoulder to shoulder with friends in his youth. The vigor of knowing you have right on your side. "God help us..." And he slips back into a fitful torpor. His thoughts turn to Mara, if he isn't wrong, enough time has past where this is now the anniversary of her death. Was this the reason he pushed himself? To join her? Maybe not though, his limbs want to move again. He deeply desires to rejoin the fray.
The heroes continued in their grim conquest of the Sunken Temple of That-Which-Lurks.
Volneer's cantrip latched onto the ooze and he could tell the creature was injured by his necrotic energies.
Meanwhile Dorn, Aria, and Kneecap kept up the pressure on the ghoul. The rapier attacks failed to part the cultist's undead flesh ... but Kneecap struck a mighty blow that would have felled a commoner. The ghoul yowled a wordless sort of rage, and returned the blow, its claws raking against an already haggard dwarf. Aria stepped in close, attempting to parry the blow ... but the ghouls's focus was singular.
Kneecap fell, his dwarven blood seeping out onto the flagstones of this horrible place.
The ooze continued its mindless, methodical lurch, and attacked the first thing it could ... the ghoul. But the pseudopod found no purchase.
It was looking grim for the heroes.

The pair of warriors used their rapiers with harmonious synergy. Where one went high, the other went low, and they each managed to open up a large gash across its undead midsection.
Offal and guts and stinking entrails fell from the wounds and the ghoul was dead before it hit the ground.
The ooze, meanwhile, lost no chance to capitalize on this free meal.
It was occupied ... but it would not remain so for long.

As he stares at the ceiling and it begins to fade to black, Kneecap regrets not casting Healing Word on himself. He was saving it for Calim, but that may never happen now...
“Now is no time for sleeping friend, You have work to do!”Dorn will sheath his rapier and grasp kneecaps chest, pulling him from death as he grants him 1hp, and helps him to his feet. He then navigates to the dagger he threw at the second grimlock in preparation to retrieve it.
Volneer glares past everything around him, ignoring the chaos around him, and fires a blast of flame into the ooze, working to kill it and allow the party to help each other.
Volneer fired upon the distracted beast! His fire bolt easily landed, damaging the creature, but the sorcerer was certain that the acidic hide was somehow fire resistant. The ooze let out a low, rumbling roar and stopped feeding upon the ghoul! It had been distracted ... no longer!
Aria, seeing that the team's life was in jeopardy, interposed herself between the ooze monster and the rest of the group. She brought her rapier down in an efficient arc and sliced at the ooze's acidic flesh. Some of the grey/black slime that coated the creature stuck to her weapon ... sizzling and dulling the blade somewhat.
Dorn healed Kneecap, and the dwarf regained consciousness.
Then the ooze retaliated against Aria! A massive wallop from the creature's pseudopod, and the squire fell in a heap where she stood ... her breastplate armor sizzling.
