Yaudara frowns as the goblin avoids his strike. "Nimble thing, aren't you, but my next strike--"
He pauses as a weird shadow overcomes the creature, and then the bright Eldritch Blast destroys it. "Or, that could happen."
Yaudara turns back to the battle just as another goblin races past, ducking under the slash of his spear and dipping down into the tunnel again. He frowns at his second miss, and then notices the creature's odd path into the darkness, and the faint, sparkling ring on the ground that it avoided.
"There's a snare trap at the entrance," Yaudara calls out. "Looks magical in nature. Step with caution."
Following the goblin's path, he charges into the darkness after it.
Move to catch up with G1, and if he does so, melee attack Action, 13 to hit, which hits, in fact, for 8 piercing damage.
Seeing that they've been able to kill off two of the three goblins, the wizard is relieved at how they were able to turn the battle in their favor, however he's worried that they might already be too late to stop the remaining goblin from telling the others. He would normally think to try to get to a good place to shelter, to try to hide from the goblin hoard and live another day...but he then sees Yaudara run headfirst into the darkness.
"Well, I'm not about to see a third friend die so soon," he says, using the Light cantrip on his silver short sword as he moves towards the now-revealed passage downwards, remembering to mind the trap. "We should go after that goblin and stop them before they can get any more of his kin to join the fight."
With a little clicking of his mouth, he beckons Rachael to follow, petting her for a brief moment to give affection for noticing the trap. He makes sure to avoid the trap, though wondering what kind of magic this may be.
With the battle topside won, the adventurers took a moment to assess the aftermath. Two goblins lay lifeless on the ground, their threats silenced permanently. Among them was the goblin who had attempted to flee and seek reinforcements, now thwarted in his desperate mission.
The giant spider, having made a daring leap across the ravine, landed on the other side just as the warlock unleashed an eldritch blast. The crackling starlight energy struck true, felling the cocooned goblin in a final burst of dark magic. The threat from above had been decisively quelled.
Below, the paladin wasted no time, charging into the underground warren with determined purpose. As Yaudara descended into the complex, he deftly avoided the magical snare trap at the top of the stairs and caught up to the last goblin, cutting him down.
The stairs led down into the depths for about twenty feet before opening into an empty antechamber. The air was stale and musty, the only illumination filtering in from the entrance above. In the corner of the room stood a defaced statue of an elf, its features marred and chipped, a silent sentinel amidst the darkness.
As the paladin took in his surroundings, he heard the unmistakable sounds of approaching goblins echoing from deeper within the complex. The clattering of footsteps and guttural voices grew louder, signaling that a new wave of enemies awaited in the shadows of the underground chambers.
Topside, the heroes also heard the hurried shuffle of running footsteps and the creaking of ropes and Agnes saw a lone goblin running from west to east along the rope bridge. It was gone just as quickly, disappearing into the archway built into the eastern half of the chasm.
The line of rocks marked on the map grants cover. The chasm is 15' wide at all points (ignore the squares that make it seem like more than 15').
This area is dimly lit due to sunlight coming in from the open hatchway.

Approaching the open hatchway in the ground, Rinn was able to identify the magical trap. It was a simple charm, a snare ... but not one that he would have thought goblins capable of casting.
The giant spider form easily scaled the walls and arrived at the eastern archway.
The archway and halls ahead were quite cramped for the druid's current size, but from his perch near the rope bridge, he could see that a passageway led to the west, toward Yaudara's side of the chasm, and east ... into a small dimly lit room that contained a goblin. Toadstool's arachnid eyes peered through the dim light and saw that the goblin was alone in the room, frantically yelling and pulling on a rope that suspended from the ceiling.
OOC — This is as far as Toadstool made it after his movement. He has not yet used an action. Being large-sized, proceeding through the archway would count as squeezing.
Yaudara stepped over the dead goblin, then paused, the sounds of others rushing to join the battle reaching his ears. How many? He couldn't be sure, but he could be sure he'd be overwhelmed if he went much further. These beasts lived and died in bunches, so this narrow stairway could be his lifeline.
The paladin stepped a bit further, not leaving the staircase, then called on his genasi roots to steel himself against any incoming attack, and placed the haft of his yklwa atop his lion shield, ready to strike the first foe that charged him.
Move 5 feet east, staying within the staircase so only one foe can get next to him, Hold a melee Attack action in case a goblin comes within melee range, 8 to hit, which will miss, and Bonus Action use Merge with Stone to cast Blade Ward (1 used, 1 remaining)
Move to move toward the hatch (I won't make it all the way with my movement). Action to cast light on my crystal amulet.
Agnes pumps her fist at their success, but observes with considerable concern the gobbo, presumably having plunged into the hatch, now racing across the bridge. "Careful, Toads! We dun' know how many gobs there is! Don't go alone! Wait for th' others. I'll go th' way o' Yaudara 'n Rinn!" With that, Agnes runs toward the hatch. As she approaches, she says a word and places a hand on the midnight blue crystal attached to the cord around her neck. Within the jagged, blue geode, tiny stars begin to twinkle. "Yaudara, Rinn! I'm comin'!"
The paladin held his ground at the narrow hallway. Forcing the goblins to funnel into meet him single file in the confined space. With his shield raised and spear at the ready, he maintained a defensive advantage, preventing the vicious creatures from overwhelming him with their sheer numbers.
Meanwhile, the giant spider, having webbed up one of the goblins, watched as it tried to break free. It failed, but not before its signal for reinforcements was answered.
Down the rope that the goblin had been desperately pulling on, a hulking bugbear descended with menacing agility. Its fur matted and stained, the bugbear snarled in the guttural goblin tongue and closed in for battle.
The bugbear swung its brutish morningstar at the giant spider, but the arachnid's nimble movements allowed it to evade the deadly blow. However, in the chaos of the skirmish, a sharp pain pierced the spider's carapace as an arrow found its mark, fired by another goblin positioned on the opposite side of the rope bridge.

Rinn hears fighting now coming from both the hatch and from the canyon, and he seeing Agnes head after Yaudara. While he's worried for Toadstool, he knows that he has the toughness of a bear (sometimes, literally), and getting down to the bridge quickly will help them fight the other combatants down below.
He's going after Yaudara, telling Agnes of the snare trap as he passes her, his nimble elvsh feet making it easy to step over. Rachael is following behind him, keeping close to her mage master (help Rinn to see if there's anything else dangerous ahead).
He's able to come up behind Yaudara on the steps where the paladin is fighting the two goblins. "Seems like you might need some help," says Rinn as he uses Fire Bolt on G4.
To hit G4: 1d20 + 5 = 6 + 5 = 11 (miss assuming 15 AC). Damage: 1d10 = 3.
As the fiery strike misses, Rinn swears in elvish, incredibly frustrated with himself for having such terrible aim. He tries again, his eyes burning menacingly in the dark and his hands flicker with red flame as he uses Fire Bolt on G4.
To hit G4: 1d20 + 5 = 11 + 5 = 16 (wooo!!!). Damage: 8.
This time, Rinn's rage goes fully into the cantrip and the mage's flame takes down the goblin, burning ripping through the target's body.
Move to enter the tunnel (avoiding the snare trap). Action to cast agonizing eldritch blast. Attack: 9+5=14; Damage 3+3=6 force damage.
"Thanks, Rinn!" Agnes makes her way down the hatch, careful to avoid the trap that the others have mentioned, and emerges into the hallway. The glow from her crystal gives her enough light to get around. She arrives just in time to see one of the gobs lit up like a bonfire. She's seen both Yaudara and Rinn create magical fire, so it's hard telling who's done it. Regardless, she knows they've got to get to Toads. "Break through 'n get t' tha bridge. I think Toads might be in trouble!" With that, she fires a beam of starfire down the hall.
Yaudara sees the firebolts flash above him, and for the first time in his life, is thankful he's vertically-challenged. As the first goblin goes down, he steps forward and strikes at the second with his yklwa. Skewering the beast, he steps over the corpse, casting a glance at the elven statue in the corner before proceeding on down the stairs, trying to link up with his arachnid companion.
Move 5 feet, melee Attack with 20 to hit and 11 damage, then move the remainder of his movement around the corner and down the stairs, looking for the next enemy.
The pair of goblins that had confronted the heroes were easily dispatched. Spear thrusts and arcane spells cut through the air, swiftly ending any resistance.
Pressing forward, the trio ventured through the only exit in the statue chamber, descending deeper into the underground complex via another set of stairs. They came upon a darkened empty chamber. Columns lined this new room. At the far end of the chamber loomed a menacing sight—a large carving of a demonic face, its mouth fashioned into a gaping archway. Within that archway lay an impenetrable darkness, a magical enchantment that blocked all light from entering or escaping.
The warlock, however, with a focused gaze, could peer through the darkness enchantment and see beyond.
[Spoiler for Agnes]
Agnes' Devil Sight peered through the charm, and she saw that the archway carved into the demonic face led to a short hallway that spilled onto the rope bridge. In that hallway, a lone goblin stood, firing arrows across the bridge towards the giant spider on the other side.
Meanwhile, across the rope bridge, the giant spider bared its poisonous fangs and attacked the bugbear. The creature roared in pain as the spider's venom coursed through its veins, weakening its ferocious assault.
The goblin that had been restrained by the spider's webbing managed to cut himself free, using his jagged scimitar to sever the sticky strands.
The placement on the map assumes that Agnes, Rinn and Yaudara all moved 30' as part of their round 7 actions. They will begin round 7 with 30' of movement already allocated.
The entryways and hallways that directly touch any outside area are dimly lit due to sunlight coming in from the open hatchways/archways. The room with the demonic face is unlit and completely dark, but both Rinn and Agnes have furnished light sources. The double doors to the lower room are open.
It may not have been clear from the description, but the group (except for Agnes) cannot see through the demonic face.

Yaudara cautiously leads the party down the stairs, getting as far as he can while trying to peer through the gloom with his dark vision. He reaches out with Divine Sense, trying to perceive any evil around them.
Action: Dash to make it into the chamber, 10ft west of the demon head. I don't want to end adjacent to G6. That extinguishes all of my movement and action ability so I can't do much else. The best I can do this round is describe what I see.
Agnes break through the tunnel into the chamber. "Oh!" The horrid face catches her off guard and she stumbles and nearly trips, reaching out to steady herself on Yaudara. Peering quizzically at the demonic head, she gasps in realization. "It's just an illusion! Or a sorcery, or some such! Just there, on t'other side, the hallway continues, 'n there's a gob shootin' arrows at Toads! Quick, get on through!"
Rinn doesn't see the demon face yet, though as he sees Agnes's initial reaction, he readies to cast another spell. "An illusion?" asks Rinn in confusion, "that, along with that snare trap, makes me wonder who among these goblinoids is able to use magic so effectively?" From his readings on goblins, only the best of goblin shamen have such abilities; this worries him.
Action: Rinn dashes another 30ft to stand against the northern wall. Assuming that G6 doesn't start firing into the room through the illusion, Rachael will follow. If G6 does start firing, she will stay out of sight in the hallway, just outside the demon-head room.
Rinn wonders what this magic is...and what could have made it? He tries to remember if he's ever read about any similar instances of goblins having strong magic like he can assume this is.
Intelligence (History) check of 6+3 = 9; OOC - so probably nothing. Intelligence (Arcana) check of 14+5 = 19; OOC - at least Rinn may know what magic was cast. If only the first roll was allowed, that's fine too. Just rolled both since they both seemed relevant.
