For me too. Yeah, I'd be running multiple Duet campaigns, but I am running 4 campaigns and playing in a fifth, so I am limiting myself to 8 active campaigns. I'm also running another duet with jester.
Current Campaign(s): Dungeons, Darkness, Drow, and Demons, an Out of the Abyss Adventure, Dungeon Delvers, a Dungeon of the Mad Mage Adventure, Jungle of Evil, a Tomb of Annihilation Adventure

Oh, I can juggle them. It's not that hard. But at some point it will get to be too much. I've found that for standard campaigns, playing DMPC helps me keep track cause I can nudge the party forward when things get slow.

Yeah. I just normally prefer solo games since a lot of the characters I come up with (as I have been told by others) have a bit of a single player energy. Not to mention some of my ideas are a bit trickier to play out in normal games.

I was just sick of playing neutered campaigns, where everything felt a little too pg. So I posed an idea that we make a homebrew based on mythology, where every country was a different culture and next to nothing was censored. No nastiness for the sake of being nasty; it was all "tasteful." It was a gritty, dark fantasy adventure. Now I'm hooked.
I was juuuust about to negotiate my friend's freedom from an orc chief with a... "taste" for elves, when the evil army attacked. Then he said he had to take a break.
The particular idea is one I've had for a while, in which people of magic are sort of nobility in the world. However, they are also somewhat controlled by that magic, essentially living a life of luxury and bliss while letting others control the world around them. The PC is someone that is disgusted with how this world is, slowly growing in his own ability to try and fix it. (May also have some eventual plague like elements involved, but we'll see.)

Growing up in the slums of Baldur's Gate, Arfaen never really knew what safety and happiness was. Especially after the death of his parents when he was 8. He was left to live a difficult life on the streets. Luckily, his charisma, agility and intelligence kept him alive. He learned that humanoids are fickle beings, and even the most gruff, immovable ones will fall to flattery. He taught himself how to use instruments, and not long after his first performance at a local tavern did he discover the hidden magic of music. It terrified him. Magic is what killed his parents, and know he had power over the arcane arts. While sorting out this conflict inside him, he began teaching himself the art of the blade. Eventually, he found he could actually do good with magic, blade, and song. He begin a life of adventure, often solo. He took on flashy jobs for free, trying to get the attention of the harpers, but alas, they didn't want flashy. He changed his style, learning how to infiltrate using magic, stealth and charisma to get information, get wrongdoers alone. Arfaen was not just a bard. He was an assassin, a spellcaster, a performer. He learned that there are three ways to look at missions: (1) Go in, kill everyone, get out (2) Go in, stealthy, and kill one person or (3) go in, and turn the mission into a performance that they will sing about for centuries. That is Arfaen Silverlute. The Bardic Assassin. The Silent Singer. From lost, unhappy urchin to up and coming bard, Arfaen's ultimate goal: Kill Sadon Montegu, the wizard who killed his parents.

Yep, that sounds about right. Mine's a little difficult, since Esthmera's tragedy happens just before the opening act. She starts a Paladin of Justice, a Pursuer of fleeing criminals into foreign lands. She returns from a long mission to find her home burning. An entire city enwreathed in flame, blood and ruin. All her fellow knights, men and women she's trained, ate with and stood beside lay scattered across the castle walls, often bathed in blood, dead or dying from grievous wounds accrued in a vicious battle that had occurred only mere moments before our character's arrival.
Doing what she can, she battles her way to the ramparts of the upper towers, pushing evermore to the king's chamber. There, she finds a grizzly sight -- her king, doused in a pool of blood, dead. The man standing over his headless corpse is not some faceless evil, but her fellow knight and her one true love, Qa'ae. She doesn't react when he steps toward her, nor when he does nothing to allay her fears. 'Tis only when his steel sinks deep into her flesh that she at last comprehends his wretched betrayal.
...from there, the campaign actually begins, with her fighting her way through burning streets to escape the carnage of what she's just seen. The prologue ends with her fulfilling one last act of true justice, giving judgement to a violent looter that tried to do unspeakable things to her during her escape. She interrogates him for little things, like his name and such, all while digging through his mind. The moment she learns he's taken an innocent life, however, she finds him guilty and executes him on the spot, a clean slice through the neck. Her story really begins as the sun crests over the carnage. There's no Justice for a kingdom that no longer exists. So with the dissolution of her last life, she swears a bloody oath of Vengeance upon the man responsible for all those that suffered that day. She swears to kill the man she loved.
Wow. You know what I love most about duet campaigns? You have the oppurtunity to pour your heart and soul into your character without having to make sure your character fills a certain role in a party. The only thing that sucks? You can't use bardic inspiration on yourself lol.

Yeah, an explicit edgy revenge story in the PM section. You?

He told me about a Cyberpunk one and one where magic users discriminated against non magic users. Either of those yours?
My previous post is in response to denanstus. But yes, my campaign with Beezwax is a revenge story. Some wizard who killed my character's parents.

Completely understand limiting oneself on games. I'm only in a small handful of games, so I'm slowly trying to spread out them.

I normally make my DMPCs so that they fill in a missing space. I did the duet because I wanted to play a character who could do everything.

Yeah, but she's already got an entourage. The slaver arc made sure of that.
Just in case this comes back at some point or another, I'll drop my name in here.
You won't regret it. He's got a good head on his shoulders.
