Name: Nettles Race: Custom Lineage (Najas Hagerupii) Class: Warlock (The Fathomless) Background: Pirate (Cabin Boy) Backstory (Reason): Nettles, a daughter of the sea, sprouted from the lineage of the aquatic Najas Hagerupii and was cradled by the waves since birth. She knew the lullaby of the tides, the fury of the storms, and the whispers of the depths. Her days as a cabin boy aboard a pirate vessel the Maelstrom came to an abrupt and tragic end when authorities, in a relentless pursuit of justice, clashed with her crew in a cataclysmic confrontation. As the vessel succumbed to the abyss, Nettles alone emerged from the wreckage, her life spared by the ocean's embrace. Captured and chained, her destiny now lies in the hands of fate as a captive aboard the prisoner transport ship Manungal, her spirit as unfettered as the boundless sea, her story waiting to unfurl with the sails towards the Archipelago of Opportunities.
Reason for Being (here): Former Shipwright, awaiting trial. Chip was a portside shipwright of moderate skill and comfortable means. As a condition of his employment, a shipwright's pay would be reduced by a percentage of the material cost for a contract. When Chip was approached by a stranger offering a year's work of materials for free, he was savvy enough to recognize the potential personal benefit. The condition, however, was that he needed to take on a three-eyed rat. Chip was loathe to take on the pest and conspired to dispose of it. No matter what lengths he went to, however, he couldn't kill or abandon the rat as it would return the next day.
At his wits' end, Chip signed onto a ship, thinking even a fiend couldn't cross an ocean. Chip drowned his rat in a barrel of pickled fish, then boarded his contractor vessel, Manungal. As he relished a feeling of freedom on his first night, though, he spied a trio of glowing, red eyes across the deck. He immediately ran to the first mate, but his panic was mistaken for mad ravings. Chip spent the night screaming of chewing sounds in the walls and eyes in the dark. Within days, the ship's new shipwright was in need of replacement and the brig had a new transient occupant.

Hi there, this looks fun! I'd like to join in, if allowed!
Name: Bolos
Race: Triton
Class: Barbarian (Ancestral Guardian)
Background: Far Traveler
Reason for Being Here: Bolos, a newly-come-of-age Triton, from a small village deep beneath the waves, was sent out by his tribal elders to make contact with the surface people, in an attempt to learn their ways and perhaps develop trade or alliances to help the village survive the threats of the depths.
Unfortunately, some of the first people he met happened to be bandits. Unaware of the customs of the surface dwellers, Bolos was easily duped into "unpaid servitude" aboard a merchant ship. After weeks aboard, he managed to escape, but killed the ship's second mate in the process. He was eventually discovered, as his kind were not common on the mainland, and promptly arrested. He now finds himself a prisoner aboard the Manungal, en route to the port his previous ship sailed from, to face sufacerer justice.
Class: Rogue (To multiclass with Warlock and Oath of the Sea Paladin)
Background: Sailor
Reason for Being Here: Robbery, Disturbance of the Peace, Destruction of Property. Kidnapping, Scamming, Pretending to be a Priest/Judge/Noble, Destruction of 10 vessels, Burning a Townhall, Tax Evasion, Alleged Murder... doesn´t mean all of the crimes are true however, you know how people tend to exaggerate lmao
Name: Aarav Paxton (roughly translates to peace, peace)
Race: (Variant, if you'll allow it) Keldon human
Class: Artificer (when we get there: Artillerist) (Also might multiclass with forge cleric)
Alignment: Lawful neutral (If you are doing alignments)
Background: Custom background (If you allow it, with the base of Dimir operative with a Wither Bloom student feature)
Reason for being here: Aarav is a former slave who wants to find (or already found as a player) a new master to serve, he is probably here because his master is abord, hopefully one of the other players if they agree and their character is nice. Aarav likes people and may be too trusting of everyone but himself. He doesn't attack unless it is to defend his master or if he was directly ordered to by his master. He doesn't attack because of a curse he was given by his wife's Ex that makes him take the same amount of damage that he deals. Aarav doesn't have many material things except his quarterstaff with a compass on the top, a bedroll, his armor & simple clothing, and to hold stuff for his master. He has a lifecraft/thopter (mechanical) Tressym familiar that he made.
My Questions: First, for my Variant human feat, can I give it to my familiar instead, it's tandem tactician and UA (Tandem Tactician (UA) - DND 5th Edition (*******.com)). Second, are there any rulebooks, rules or things off limits like homebrew or UA? Third, do you allow the variant rule of spell points? And lastly for now, what does OOC mean "(will have to be rolled in the OOC thread when we start)

Will add his character sheet when I can here:
Interesting, someone else looking go use spell points instead of spell slots! My "main" campaign that's been running for a few years now converted to spell points a while back. It's honestly a much more intuitive and organic-feeling system than spell points.
"OOC" = "Out of Character". Often an OOC space accompanies PBP games where players and DM can chat casually or in more meta terms outside the in-character (IC) campaign thread.

Reason why is your character on a prisoner transport ship "Manungal"?
(tl/dr: Captured from the Pirate ship "Ravager" after a rival Captain ratted them out)
The girl had the black skin and six fingers that marked her as a descendent of Grazztz. Her tail was about 5 ft long, slender, blunt and prehensile. She signed aboard the Ravager when she was a teen, anything to escape the stares of the town that left her without love for it. She hadn't chosen a name yet, and just went with the name her parents gave her. As long as she pulled her weight, she was accepted by the crew.
It didn't take long to realize the Ravager was a pirate ship. And she was ok with that. If you didn't fight, they'd let you live. Of course, they ravaged the ships wealth and a few of the passengers, but you sail and take your chances.
Then a rival captain betrayed them. The fleet caught up with them, and the Ravager lost the battle. Many were lost, some were caught and hanged and a few (including her) escaped (almost, in this case)
And now she had a name.
Ravager.
Back on shore she sought vengence. And a voice whispered to her, offering power in exchange for service. She accepted.
(OOC: About alignment. Ravager is nterested in hedonism & revenge but chill & cooperative with anyone who helps her. Any alignment restrictions on that? She'll be one of the first to suggest the party work together to acheive their goals, with plenty of examples from her shipmates)
The original group she was with disbanded so starting again at 1st lvl
