The bolts scream towards the Awaken tree flying over the heads of the goblins now on their needs whining and Putnan as Fire seems to be the weapon of choice in this situation.
The Awaken tree takes 24 damage from the bolt as it blasts into the trees limbs.

Ral moves ahead and gets to melee range swinging his +1 maul and strikes clean. The Awaken tree shakes off have the bludgeoning damage and takes the full necrotic for 13 pts of damage.
The Awaken tree goes next in full fury slams Ral with a huge arm/limb thing for 14 bludgeoning damage, but with Ral Raging it's reduced by 1/2 to 7
The Barbarian has taken a beating over the past few minutes clearly bloodied.
It's round 2 and Smudge's initiative.

Smudge blinks in astonishment at Ral’s brutal attack on the tree and in wonder at the fact that Ral is still standing after the tree’s counter attack. He blinks again after realizing that he is fighting a tree - he had not read up on this particular risk and was a bit uncertain about how much damage a tree could take. So he decides that directly helping Ral would be less risky than attacking the tree, so in a loud strong voice says, “Tymora, hear my prayer to heal brave Ral.”
Smudge healing seems to have an effect on Ral as he seems to straight up a little bit and the blood loss seems to be lessening.
Petnan cast his bolt at the tree and misses its mark likely distracted by the goblins groveling underfoot.
Ral stays the course and continues his attack on the tree. Dropping his maul and drawing his great sword..
However, there is another solution for all the non-Rogue players who want to switch weapons and attack in a single turn: Drop your weapon, don't sheathe it.
Dropping something requires no action at all, not even your free object interaction. So you can drop your weapon, use your free object interaction to draw a different weapon, and attack with that weapon on a single turn. And move too, if you want. Just remember to come pick up your dropped weapon later (probably at the end of the combat.)
Ral with Rage First Creature hit on his turn.
MOVE: Ral stands toe to trunk and moves as needed to stay in the fight up to 30ft; (spending 30 feet of movement; first diagonal costs 5 ft. of movement, second costs 10 ft., third costs 5 ft., etc.) BONUS: none
ACTION:Ral Target the Awaken Tree: Attacking with his Greatsword: 18 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll. (Slashing)
End of turn!
Reaction:Attacks of opportunity.

Smudge is no arborist but decides this tree must be pretty near death given how many limbs it is missing, so risks another attack on it. "Oh powerful Tymora, smite this being with your power."
Make sure that the rope on the goblins is tied and they can’t run and in common tell them to not try to run
I ask one of the team members to watch them (goblins)
Let party know that I’ll detect magic on the dead goblins/leader and trees. then start ritual cast detect magic. Then check the bodies. Starting with the big tree. Then goblin leader then the others
(OOC: Smudge has used 1 of 4 level 1 slots and 2 of 2 level 2 slots. I understand that a short rest does not restore spell slots. Just curious, are you able to see my character's sheet in BDnD? Thanks!)

In the meantime, Darbakh walks over to the two surviving goblins and makes sure they’re tied up so tightly that it’s uncomfortable. He stares at them for a long time without blinking or reacting, and then he snaps his fingers. His owl familiar lands on one of the goblins.
”Fellas, do you think my owl could eat the eyes of this goblin here?” Darbakh says while pointing at one of the goblins, just to scare it. “It could still yield valuable information whether it has eyes or not.”
Smudge shrugs. He had read that this sort of thing could happen, but he really did not trust himself to say or do anything to attempt to intimidate the prisoners. His stutter and general lack of social practice made him very uncomfortable in this situation. Instead, he pulls out his map case and calligraphy material to take notes about what has happened so far, and faces away from the goblins.
The goblins start talking in common quickly, “Big boss was using this for uh getting stuff for us. We have a good haul. We shared with trees they help sometimes. You folks to tough. I tell you everything you let us go. We have no boss so we make no more trouble and trees no help now. Please.”
Darbakh listens to the goblins but then looks at Smudge, Ral, and Petnan. “What do you think, guys? Maybe we need some assurance that these gobboes are telling the truth.”
“ I for one would be very interested in seeing the haul you all have acquired. How many more goblins and others are in your group. We don’t want to hurt any more of you so it would be best there are no more surprises “
"I consulted the Book of Dumratham be, be, be before joining this adventure. It was pretty clear that the words of goblins cannot be trusted. But there are ways they can demonstrate that what they say is true. They should show us their hideout, which would give us evidence about how many they are; I wo, wo, wo, would trust the number of sleeping spots more than any of their words. I would also be interested in seeing the haul. I believe their usual practice is to carry some wealth and store more at or near their hideout." The stutter, which had not appeared during the battle, reappeared. As did the book-worm nerdiness that many people disliked.
“Ignis!” Darbakh shouts without hesitation, hurling a fire bolt at the awakened tree like a baseball.
Darbakh’s spell attack: 9
Damage if it hits: 12

On my turn I attempt to attack with Eldritch blast but miss with 11. (Ooc) putting kids to bed so I’m out of pocket so wanted to not hold things up
also when combat is over we need to verify goblins still tied up and I ritually cast detect magic and start searching the trees and goblins.
