Sparhawk asks the group. "Hum, perhaps a slime of some sort, hiding and awaiting our exit. Not sure I want to run into it on my way out, but if its not attacking, perhaps we advance, or set a trap for whatever it is?"
Attract, tbe black pudding falls from the ceiling, landing on Sparhawk. The bugbear is covered in black slime, which starts earing through fur flesh and hardened materials, including weapons and armor
The effects on his armor, weapons, ammunition and nonmagical garb are severe.
Armor takes -1 ac permanently
Weapons do 1 less damage when effects. He's got many equipped so we'll limit it somewhere. Pick 1 of the swords or the ceossbow.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Before Koselig can regroup or introduce himself to the newcomers a black pudding suddenly drops onto Captain Sparhawk, thinking quickly Koselig grabs his alchemist's supplies and casts Ray of Sickness on the mindless thing.
Attack: 13 Damage: 13 poison damage and must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, it is also poisoned until the end of your next turn.
"Watch out! It's on Captain Sparhawk!... or it was?"

"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
(ooc: I'm guessing since Koselig was with the group: Captain Sparhawk, Cha!jil, and Tess that he benefits from the Prayer of Healing?)

"I have run into these creatures before, Don't hit it with swords, it will cause it to split into more of those accursed things. It doesn't move too quickly, if we can hit it with magic and missile weapons, we should be able to kill it. My crossbow is done, Does anyone have an extra one I can use? Oh, and if you hit it with non-magical weapons, it will damage your things, so be careful."
(Does it auto hit?) Sparhawk Misty steps 30 feet away (Throwing the Crossbow to the ground)
Put your spoiler here.
It fell from the ceiling. It's not an attack it's just contact. In 3.5 it might have been a touch attack. I'm kinda curious now. ...
So, in the 3.5 monster manual it gives the player a DC21 Reflex save before damage on a hit. If this was intended in 5e stat block, I didn't get that impression. MM3.5 explicitly says the DC is based on Con, so...in 5e that's just a DC14 Dex save to avoid any damage.
So, Sparhawk can roll a DC14 Dex save. Narratively, we'll say a success means he dodges the pudding entirely at the last second.
<It's funny becasue 5e is both much more harsh with the damage here, but makes the odds of any effect much lower.>
Either way, it does still block the only way out and is advancing toward you along the floor. Note: it's acid (or whatever) does not effect stone, for some reason.
(thanks for looking it up, its brutal when it hits and attacking it causes a lot of issues, especially if it splits due to slashing damage) Dex save (23).
No point rolling initiative. I'm counting this a "surprise round" whixh is to say, all pcs have surprised condition and thus act after the monster, who only used movement on kts tuen, but I guess would have its reaction still, so Sparhawk is within 5ft and could trigger an AoO by moving.
All Players are up (save Kos whose already gone this round)
Dallas sighs and gets ready to eldritch blast the next evil of monstery looking thing that comes into his sight.
no more time for dnd

Cha'jil backed away from the creature as quickly as possible knowing from previous experience there was little her attacks would do against it.
I don't see why not
(Sparhawk Initiative 8): Sparhawk

The ray of sickness Koselig conjured hits the black blob and it recoils from it.
DC16 Con Save vs poison 13
Well, that was a nat 10... lol (fumble fingers). Let's try it again 13

Sparhawk will shoot it with two bolts: 22 to hit Damage: 5 , 23 to hit 4 damage
Bonus action: shield of faith: +2 ac so now ac is 24 due to shield of faith and warding bond.
You can do this as a reaction if yoi want, but you can also save ut and just use your acrion as usual.
The blob takes some mo kr damage before the bolts that strike jt dissolve in a sizzle of acidic digestion.
<remind me who cast warding bond. I'm trying to keep track of time and I forget that one. I'll let you know when it's been an hour>
(Cha!jil cast it on Sparhawk when they entered the cavern, we've had the trap, the golem, and her healing (10 minutes?).
<Yeah, 10s about right.>
