Disappointed to seeing the elves leave, Grikiltha tell herself it's for the best after seeing the look they gave her when she poked her head around the cart. "Cowards anyways, all they do is scout and leave. The only reason they engaged with Pinja was the rest of us were out of sight. Which says they weren't even good scouts. Probably better off with out them." Throwing a couple of more apples to Pinja
"Also you probably wouldn't want them staring at you sideways everything you took a breath aye? Since we are all up and there is a wagon of grub, best fill oir bellies before passing back out aye?" She starts eating one of the apples herself dispote nit axtually being hungry. She thinks to herself Come on fill that hungry belly before crawling back in there...
As the night progresses, no more surprises befall the party. The rumbling of thunder in the distance gradually fades away, leaving only the soft sounds of the wilderness. These natural noises serve to soothe those of you that are tired and wary, providing a sense of calm after the tense encounters.
When the sun rises, its first light gently filters through the trees, signaling the end of the long night. The group stirs from their makeshift shelter, the cool morning air refreshing your spirits. You drink from your waterskins, the cool water providing much-needed hydration. And consume part of your rations, supplementing the meal with some of the abandoned apples found in the abandoned wagon.
The party continues to follow the Triboar Trail, their destination the ruins of Conyberry village on the way to Butterskull Ranch. The journey through the road is peaceful, an hour and a half of uninterrupted travel.
The skies are clear, a perfect azure expanse stretching above them. The weather is mild and pleasant, with a gentle breeze rustling the leaves and grass. The grasslands surrounding the trail make for a beautiful scenery, verdant and rolling, dotted with wildflowers swaying in the wind. The tranquility of the surroundings and the beauty of nature provide a welcome respite, lifting the spirits of the adventurers as they press on towards their goal.
However, Drako and Darien notice something alarming in the distance. A pack of large, monstrous wolves is making their way hurriedly in the direction of the party through the tall grass. Leading the charge is the largest of these wolves, ridden by what appears to be a hobgoblin clad in heavy armor. Their intentions are clear. You must fight to protect yourselves from the incoming assault.
As he notices the pack of wolves and their riders, Darien shouts from the front of the group, “We’ve got incoming!”
He stops walking and focuses his magic, the grass and vines on the ground around his feet seeming to reach towards him as he calls the plants to his aid. Far in front of them, the grass around the goblins responds with even more strength, sprouting sharp thorns and tangling the feet of the wolves, slowing them down as they move toward the party.
[[ Spell centered on the intersection directly in front of worg B. ]]
"Best to take a step back and brace for them. We can ready ourselves while they charge the field." suggests Drako, "And may Bahamut aid our efforts in this battle." He says to Darien and Nigel, "Perhaps take your positions behind us?"
Movement: 10ft back, gesturing to the others to follow suit. Action: Bless on Pinja, Grikiltha, Drako
The tall grass will obstruct their vison of the spikes. Once they start to move through the area, the worgs will take damage accordingly to how far they move.
Drako:
Bless is succesfull and movement is noted. [We'll have to play a bit with Theatre of the Mind since the default map is small.]
Grikiltha:
The javelin hits and it stays imbedded into the Worg's tough hide.
Pinja watches the battle start to unfold. She narrows her eyes in contemplation, then shudders as her whole body shifts and cracks until she is once again in wererat form. “Guess, I might be able to control some things,” she mumbles, flexing her newly emerged claws. Then she turns toward the opponents in an attack crouch.
"Hold that thought my friend. We may yet control the battlefield."
Nigel moves hastily forward as the magical thicket grows, stopping so that a 30' cone shaped area will affect the most attackers. As soon as the villains start to move through the thorns he casts rime's binding ice.
He'll use the rest of his movement to get as close to Drako as possible while being mindful to stay clear of his line of sight in case he uses his breath weapon.
(DC Con 13, 17 damage, frozen in place. Successful save equals half damage and no restrictions.)
The Hobgoblin orders the goblins to charge forward, not noticing the thorns forming in the tall grass. He was readying a longsword strike against Grikiltha until Nigel unleashes rime's binding ice. Immediately freezing over and dying.
The Worgs, confused and in pain, try to escape the thorns, but they have no idea which direction is safe to traverse, and they die in the process.
Two Goblins shoot shortbow attacks at Grikiltha and miss. The other two shoot at Nigel [ 20 and 22 to hit, dealing 9 points of damage total ]. When their Worgs keel over and die, two of the Goblins remain stuck within the sharp thorns, afraid for their lives. The other two immediately begin to run away.
Darien runs up slightly in front of Nigel, extending his hand as he moves and catching a few long blades of grass in it. The blades magically weave together and lengthen, sprouting thorns, and then whip towards the goblin in front of him (goblin C, 16 to hit, 6 piercing damage). The whip wraps around the goblin and pulls it 10 feet towards the party, catching it on the spikes hidden in the grass (11 piercing damage - 4d4 for 10 ft. of movement).
As the whip turns back into grass and falls to the ground, he holds out his hand and wills the area of spikes to fade back into the earth (drop concentration on spike growth). He turns to the others and says "It's safe to pursue them now!"
" AhhOoowwww, " Nigel wails as the goblin arrows strike home. Stumbling back away from the front he lets the others take over the fight. Flopping down to a reclined position he starts fussing with his wounds. "Ook, ah, ooo," he whimpers as he gingerly touches the protruding shafts.
Goblin c is annihilated as the thorn whip wraps around it. And immediately after it's grasped by the thorny vines, it's body becomes shredded by the spiky terrain.
Drako:
Goblin D takes the full brunt of your sacred flames, it's back becomes seared by the radiant energies, but it's still standing (barely), and trying to escape.
“Dang,” Pinja says, looking around at all the damage. “Uh, maybe we should keep one alive to question?” she yells out, seeing the crispy lone survivor. “Could give us some info on the lay of the land?”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Grikiltha:
As sloppily as you might have though the javelin throw was, it strikes true, piercing the Goblin's spine. Immediately killing it.
Goblin's turn:
Goblin B is in a panicked state. [ Wisdom check to see if they dash (60ft east) away or not (DC 11 to obey Grikiltha's warning):15 ]
Goblin E tries to hide 30ft east within the tall grass (almost 5 ft tall). [ It rolled a 9 ]
[ The roll was a 3, in case it gets messed up by the edit. You could let the goblins go. We could start a chase scene if y'all really capture at least one of the goblins. Or you may attack from afar. The choice is yours! ]
Darien takes a moment to catch his breath before making his way over to Nigel with a small golden flame in his hands, which he holds over the wizard's injuries to alleviate the pain as he removes the arrows (6 healing). He shouts back to Pinja and the others, "Looks like we're going to have to give chase if you want to get any questioning done! Go on ahead if you want, Nigel and I will catch up!"
[[ I'm going to ready a wildshape if the others give chase and if Nigel wants to join, but want to save narrating it for when it happens since the conditions are so specific and it's the first time Darien has done this. If Nigel doesn't want to join due to injuries and whatnot, Darien will remain behind as well. ]]
"Oh that's so much better! Thank you Darien! What's going on? Are they chasing something? Archimedies! Go! Show them the way!" Nigel bursts forth with renewed energy. The exuberance is short lived as the magic wears off and he settles in to follow the others.

Doesn't take much to convince Nigel. A few moments later he's snoring away.
