Alaina's arrow strike out and hit two of the Stirgesdead center with a thud more felt than heard. Both drop to the floor of the cavern dead. Barely have they hit the floor before the others reach the party.
One flies for Lorken, but struggling with his hairy lower half struggles to bring its proboscis to his fey skin.
Two, hidden by deeper shadows to the south, fly for Broma. Wrapped in metal as he is, only one is able to find a gap in his armor and drive its needle-like sucker into the flesh beneath the visor [Broma takes 3 piercing damage]. It latches on with a disgusting suckering and plants its feet on Broma's shoulders.
At the front of the group, Alaina is the closest target for the three remaining mindless creatures. In their clamour to reach her flesh, one is knocked aside by the other two that find their mark. They latch on as they start to draw blood. [Alaina takes 6 piercing damage].
[Damage is unadjusted for any resistances/features/reactions]
Proboscis. Melee Weapon Attack: to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 3 piercing damage, and the stirge can attach to the target and enter their space. While attached, the stirge moves with the target and can’t make Proboscis attacks. A creature who can reach the stirge can use an action to detach the stirge, shunting them into the nearest unoccupied space of the stirge’s choice. The stirge also detaches if they become grappled, incapacitated, prone, or restrained.
Seeing two of his companions beset, Lorken hesitates only for a split second before rushing to Alaina's side, ignoring the creature flailing ineffectually at him. Unwilling to risk swinging his greataxe at the disgusting creatures latched onto her, he strikes at them with his bare fists instead:
The armored man makes gives no indication of pain. Instead, when the stirge latches to his flesh, he congratulates it. "Well done! I seem to have left exposed flesh. We'll have to fix that later. For now, however..."
Broma's first strike is to the stirge flying before him. His gauntlets begin to hum and spark. He throws a backhand out before him, catching the ravenous creature on the head. On contact, there's a small but audible >pop< as a bright burst of concussion energy explodes against the winged bloodsucker's face.
[1st Strike, Thunder Gauntlets, To hit: 19, Damage: 12]
His other hand smacks the insatiable little creature on his shoulder, eliciting a similar loud soundburst against his shoulder plate, briefly ringing his armor.
[2nd Strike, Thunder Gauntlets, To hit: 27, Damage: 7]
This draws from the researcher a brief hum of satisfaction. "Hm, hmmm...! Mayhaps I can secure one, live, for later study. Perhaps..."
Jayson looks on looking to see how to best deal with this nuisance beast. It seems the others are doing ok dealing with the beasties. Jayson mentally prepares for his action as the battle unfolds.
"Get em folks."
Caught flat footed he gathers himself.

The battle in the light of the lantern is quick, breathy and lurid. The sweep of the lantern casts great shadows across the cavern walls and the flap of the Stirges leathery wings echoes and echoes so that it sounds like all are in the middle of a great flock.
Lorken is not distracted, his blows strike true, smashing the Stirges that have stuck on Alaina with blows heavy enough to do the job but light enough that Alaina's ribs only creak, not shatter.
Broma's popping gauntlets leave the first Stirgehe hits dead on the floor, its head cracked open. His armor rings like a struck gong, but his blow is enough. The Stirge's proboscis slides out from the gap in his visor in a slick of gore as it falls to the rough fround.
[Stirge D and F die. Alaina takes 2 bludgeoning damage from each of Lorken's unarmed blows (4 total)]
[Stirge G and Hdie. Killing Stirge H while attached deals 3 thunder damage to Broma]
Tiny Target. If the stirge is reduced to 0 hit points by any damage other than psychic while attached to another creature, that creature takes damage equal to half that dealt to the stirge.
Capone is yet to make his move and that would finish Round 1.
Round 2 would start with Alainaand Jayson.
Assuming Alaina moves to hit the slightly further away Stirge, both will die before they have their next move. I'd like to give Ravnodaus the opportunity to take his turn, but if they're away/later today we'll move on if they're not able to.
Capone will stare at the situation frozen in his tracks, when suddenly a bizarre tendrils rips through empty space and lashes aout at one of the stirges while stranges sounds babble forth from the dimensional tear, it recoils into the viod it came within moments.
He will twin a Dissonant Whispers at two Striges, DC 16 wisdom save or Stirge1 takes: 14 damage and Stirge2 takes: 10 damage. And the farrealmshard manifests and strike either one if it remains DC 16 charisma save or takes 6 damage. (All psychic)

I'm probably laughing.
It is apparently so hard to program Aberrant Mind and Clockwork Soul spell-swapping into dndbeyond they had to remake the game without it rather than implement it.
The little sorcerer’s spell overwhelms the Stirge’s minds. As the whispers peak, one shudders. Its wings slow, its legs dangle and it lands on the floor. So stood, it dies. The other vanishes, between one blink and the next. Gone as if it had never existed in the first place.
The monstrosities are all dead and initiative is over. What would you like to do?
Capone clicks and whirls for a moment, despite being stationary, then finally says "Oh my! Terrible wicked bats, I don't like those one bit!"

Broma ignores his minor discomfort and returns to studying the skeletal remains, humming all the while. There's a story to be found in these corpses, information to be attained. He begins dating the more intact bones, while examining the skulls of his larger subjects. What are these...?
Lorken looks around, checking that everyone is alright. Then he'll hold the lantern to give Broma the best light, and keep an eye out for any further trouble.
Alaina uses a compress to stop the bleeding from the relatively minor wound from the stirge, stows her sword and picks up her bow. "After you're done, I still say to press east, but that's again just a hunch."

Broma identifies the three species of the long-dead skeletons. The majority of the dead are Dwarves and Humans. The style of their armor similar. Two of the bodies are larger still: Orcs.
There is little soft tissue remaining, but the bones tell a story as does the position in which they lay. The dwarves have broken skulls under rust-eaten helmets. The humans have broken sternums, at least those that made up the front line. After the first eight skeletons, the dead are more spread out. The human and dwarven skeletons now have broken spines and ribcages. One has a femur bowed forward where it snapped into two pieces and a starbust of bone-shards.
These men turned to run, Broma deduces, despite their numbers.
The Orc skeleton has a broken talus and distal tibia -- the ankle, in common terms -- an injury from a defeated but not yet dead foe as it charged by, perhaps? The Orc's other bones are blackened and charred -- the result of some fatal magic...
And, yes--- Broma peers down at the final dwarven skeleton, not far from the chamber's northern exit. It lays on its side.
Its bones are blackened also, though no bone displays clear signs of a bludgeoning injury and a break. It wears heavy armor, rust-eaten same as the others, except for one curious symbol in the middle of the breastplate that is utterly untarnished. It looks to be a perfectly-cut gemstone within a simplistic depiction of a mountain.
Broma's keen mind recalls what he was told of the Lost Mine's history. Five centuries prior, the concord of Dwarves, Gnomes and Humans established the legendary Forge of Spells and produced great quantities of magical items to improve the lives of those on the Sword Coast, and received great wealth and made great strides in the knowledge of enchantment. But the treasure was unguarded, and a raid by Bandits on unprepared scholars proved that their secrecy was poor defence against thieves in the night... That is what the people of Phandalin now believe.
The defending warriors here are too many for the story to be true. The Orcs, while possibly bandits, were clearly too overwhelming to credibly be mere simple ruffians, if such a strong force were defeated with so few Orc losses of their own.
Further, if magic items were so incredibly plentiful, why then are all the defenders wearing rusted armor?
Broma's findings are not in alignment with the history commonly known to those here.
Even as he finds these things, Broma makes no effort to hide them. He relays his findings to all around him. His voice is not one of suspicion or perplexion. Rather, he seems his usual cheery, yet unflinching self. The cerulean glint of his scale and the cold glow of his eyes clash with the warmth of the lantern's glow. "Curious. Hm! So very curious."
Before the party makes any plans to proceed, the researcher returns to the two stirges he personally dispatched. Picking the less damaged of the two, he quietly binds it and places it in his pack.
As you pass from the large cavern into the dark tunnel to the east the reliefs and artistry that adorned the rough masonry vanishes and you are left within a dark and claustrophobic tunnel that feels far longer than it is.
Before you reach the end of it, you notice a greenish glow ahead that blooms into a cavern truly lit by the fungi within. The roof sits thirty feet above your heads.
The glow is only dim above you. The most dense sections of weird fungi carpet large sections of the floor in this cavern. The growth includes puffballs a foot across, weird shelf fungus growing abundantly on stalagmites, and large mushroom-like stalks and caps a good five feet tall.
Some of the puffballs glow with an eerie green phosphorescence, but together it is enough to see the whole cavern as if well lit.
Jaysen will keep tabs on the party's health as best he can he whispers to everyone, "Those that are injured let me know. Just so we can keep tabs on one another. This place is interesting. Do you think we need to move through this cavern area?"
Jaysen looks around checking the area out. He doesn't advance. He'll stay put or move with the group whichever way is decided.

Broma begins taking note of the various fungal forms within the cavern. He's particularly fascinated by the bioluminescence cast by these smaller "puff balls," though is certainly intrigued by their overall utility function. He begins several minute examinations of the sporadic biota growing throughout, careful not to disrupt or damage any of the larger fungal structures, though he does begin to acquire a few key samples and scraping from the large caps and one of the smaller "puff balls."

Short sword: AC 16, 11 slashing damage.
