Broma moves to the northern patch of fungi. Though most are green and bioluminescent and render little challenge to his sampling on the near border of the northern patch of fungi lies one of two grand five foot Violet Fungus. He recognises it immediately, of course, on getting closer. Alas, its violent proclivities are as integral a part of its nature as its violet colouration.
Broma recalls however, that Violet Fungi grow from the corpses of humanoid beings. He shall have to investigate beneath its stalk once this next spot of physicality is concluded.
He does not hesitate, closing the distance as the fungi's tendrils emerge from its thick flesh. Broma strikes twice simultaneously, the electric hum building as both gauntlets charge. He claps his hands together on either side, the impact creating a localized concussive burst as his gauntlets release their energy.
[(1st)Thunder Gauntlets to hit: 26, Damage: 6]
[(2nd)Thunder Gauntlets to hit: 15, Damage: 13]
It's not enough, of that he's certain, but the composition of the exploration party is such that the scientist need not be concerned -- though he likely wouldn't worry anyway.
The first of the two Violet Fungi deflates between Broma's Gauntlets like a forge-bellows too long without oil, that pops on the first use. It sinks to the floor, stalk drooping until its cap is completely squashed against the glowing spores around it.
Only theViolet Fungus to the south of Broma remains.
Cold blue "eyes" turn back to his allies in haste. He calls out to them, extending a word of warning. His dulcet voice rings clear his words:
"If my strange actions are not indication enough, I feel I must caution the rest of you. That large stalk of vibrant coloration is quite hostile to those in its proximity. I've managed to dispatch one, but I recommend you destroy the other in due haste as well. I do ask that you not damage its roots, however!"
Alaina, seeing the Violet Fungi for the danger it is beyond just background color, says "Got it," drawing her bow and firing two shots into the fungus.
Bonus Action: Planar Warrior on the fungus. Longbow (SS): AC: 26; 33 force damage. Longbow(SS): AC: 26; 20 piercing damage.

I'm probably laughing.
It is apparently so hard to program Aberrant Mind and Clockwork Soul spell-swapping into dndbeyond they had to remake the game without it rather than implement it.
The nature of these violent fungi are quite clear to Broma, who nevertheless goes for several cuttings of the strange shroom. He'd love to recreate the means to grow one in a controlled environment. Perhaps by using the stirge he'd harvested earlier? Possibility is a grand notion!
But... he's more intrigued by what lies below. He's not the most careful as he tears the fungi's roots, a notion that he finds regrettable. However, he opens his medical tools and prepares Lorken's light, regardless. Something is underneath, more puzzles to be solved...! He begins humming softly.
Jayson in thought mostly as they travel starts to sing a song softly for the party.
"
(Verse 1) In the land where dragons soar, Amidst the clouds and stormy roar, A cry for help rang out so clear, From Cirirlon, the dragon dear.
(Chorus) Heroes of the horizon, brave and true, Answering the call through skies of blue, With a Ranger, Artificer, Sorcerer too, A Rune Knight, Warlock Bard, and Satyr crew.
(Verse 2) Alaina, the Horizon Walker, keen, Through planes and paths unseen, She tracked the storm with eyes so bright, Guiding the party through the night.
(Chorus) Heroes of the horizon, brave and true, Answering the call through skies of blue, With a Ranger, Artificer, Sorcerer too, A Rune Knight, Warlock Bard, and Satyr crew.
(Verse 3) Broma, with armor shining bold, Crafted magic with a heart of gold, Capone, the Autognome so wise, Cast spells that lit up the skies.
(Bridge) Gudrune, the Dwarf with strength so grand, Runes of power etched in hand, Jayson, with songs and darkened might, Charmed the winds, brought peace to the fight.
(Verse 4) Lorken, the Satyr, wild and free, Unleashed magic like a raging sea, They faced the storm and air's cruel dance, Giving the dragon her mourning chance.
(Chorus) Heroes of the horizon, brave and true, Answering the call through skies of blue, With a Ranger, Artificer, Sorcerer too, A Rune Knight, Warlock Bard, and Satyr crew.
(Outro) Now Cirirlon can rest, her heart in peace, For the heroes came and the storms did cease, On sacred ground, where memories stay, They saved the dragon, chased the storms away.
(Repeat Chorus) Heroes of the horizon, brave and true, Answering the call through skies of blue, With a Ranger, Artificer, Sorcerer too, A Rune Knight, Warlock Bard, and Satyr crew"

Broma takes a few ragged cuttings of the parts that might hold the secret of the fungus’ motility and where he believes its sensory apparatus might hide. He is focused, most of all, on what lies beneath the roots.
A body. Or two, to be precise.
The ‘roots’ of the fungus enters each body, one a drow, the other a human. Each wears a harper pin on its breast but the body is mouldering and there is evidence of lethal blows to the skulls of each.
These are not the ancient corpses of the last cavern. If Broma had to guess, he might say they are less than a month dead. Could they represent some of Faith Fal’Man’s lost companions?

[Could Broma use Passive Perception or Passive Investigation to search their corpses? And what would be the roll to determine where the original fungi came from? If these died to Violet fungi, that means there's a third, right?]

[Oh.]
The enigmatic fellow quickly rifles through the corpse's pockets, and again with the other. He makes a precise note of their location. Perhaps recovery could be later arranged, and a proper autopsy committed. Nevertheless, anything they possess may be of further use. Broma, however, specifically looks for information over other commodities. Surely one of them left a log, some indication of their progress. The scientist relishes opposing theories, divergent ideas. Progress was always quick to branch and separate. He valued all perspectives, especially those beyond his own. And this expedition is an intrepid exploration into something largely unknown. Information is worth its weight in gold.
Barring that, in addition to any other supplies he finds, he also makes sure to grab their Harper pins.
On the Drow, Broma is able to make out some ink stained portions of skin. Though the venous pooling after death has led to liquefying necrosis of the skin, and mottling of what remains, he is able to make out one dark circle wrapped a tail from a ‘pupil’ that starts within the center of the circle.
This Drow was one of the watchful Dark, a Gloomstalker. Almost certainly this was the Gloomstalker who set out to the cave with Faith scant weeks ago.
On the human body, Broma finds no identifying markings or evidence. He does find however a damp clump of spore powders, too sodden to grow. It is trivial to conclude that the violet fungus was not a natural phenomenon, but as to who would sow the corpse with these seeds there is no clue, unless…
If Broma wishes to learn anymore, he may ask any of the party to help him look for faint clues around the bodies with a Nature roll. DC 15
Jayson comes over to help Broma, "Here let me give you a hand. You seem to be really getting into the details of these creatures. Have you found out anything about them?"
Jayson helps Broma out with the bodies.

Initiative over. What do you do now?
Lorken gives a somewhat wistful sigh.
"We've got things a bit like these in the darker forests of the Feywild."
Shaking off his distraction, he will once again stand with Broma, giving him light to work while keeping an eye out for any further threats.
