Alira raised an eyebrow. "Interesting. So, mental note: Don't touch the shadows here." She looked around and said "We should move on, a person hopping into all of that will probably die horribly."
Dundur is going to argue with Alina. There’s got to be something in the void. As long as there is one large shadow, our recovery rope won’t be cut. There should one be one shadow at this point if we’ve tossed All the rocks. If it’s tied around the center rock, it should just move with the shadow.
The stones that land in the shadows fall into the shadows to the bottom of the pit they create. The DEX check was to see if you fell in due to the shadows are moving rapidly enough that they are a hazard.
Remember, the shadows, as they move, are intersecting each other as the starlight moves, so there is danger of getting neatly clipped if youre not careful. Interacting with the stones or the shadows, you risk falling in.
Finally, there are plenty of rocks, many small but some very large and immovable, so removing all the rocks in this room wont be possible. The smaller ones yes, but there will always be risk in this room.
"I'm going to have to disagree with you Dundur. I wouldn't put it past this maze to have a void that's just a void. And while I am not going to tell you not to try and find out, I do believe that it is unwise to poke around while we have a task to do. If you must poke around, please do so after I've left, so that I'm not caught in any possible consequences."
And Percival will begin to exit.

ZONE 1 - THE HALLS OF CHRONIA
ROOM 4 - SANGUIFLUUS
As you enter this room in the Maze, it looks like a royal meeting room, with chairs, rugs, chandeliers, small statues on pedestals, and tables. There is an extremely old man who looks like he is, or used to be, a King, in this room. What's odd about him is that he is impaled with three very ornate and beautiful short swords...and he is still alive. As he walks around the room, the swords that pierce him knock over things and bang into the furniture, and he winces each time. He is moaning in pain and he coughs, when he coughs he emits a cloud of gas from his mouth, and he is bleeding this same gas.
On the floor, in addition to minor items of no consequence that he's knocked over, are the two dead bodies of two other royal looking men. They are very dead, husks of the men they used to be.
The King moans when you speak, relieved to see other souls in the Maze. "The swords are magical." he says. "Please. You must remove them. Let me die in peace. That is all I want. But when you remove the swords, you must fight the gaseous remains of my brothers." It's like he's being tortured for something he did long ago. You could remove the swords. They look like they could come out of him. The clouds of gas he is expelling are toxic, and are not safe.

"I doubt I could take them on in a fight, alone at least... I will have to coordinate with my compatriots, but I believe we can give it a try. In the mean time, perhaps you could tell us how you came to such a fate, about your brothers, and..."
She eyes the statues, remembering that she needs to relate the provenance of whatever she returns to the dragon lady, "perhaps a bit about this room, how did there come to be a throne room in this deadly maze in the first place?"
While she listens, she will investigate the statues, hoping to find one small enough that she can reasonably transport it back:
King Sanguifluus moans, "I am the son of Chronia, once one of the members of the Triarchy, where the Three ruled an Empire that spanned for as far as the eye could see." He knocks over a goblet as she shuffles in pain around the room. "I was a King, and a bad one. I ruled over a cadre of Knights, and they were bad too. My Knights killed my brothers, and put their souls in my body, and then the Medusa found me, heard my story, and shoved the swords in my back where I suffer for all eternity here in this place, this ROOM, she created for her amusement. You must pull them out! I wish nothing more than to finally die. Once you remove the swords, they are yours."
Sadly, you do not see a statue small enough for you to take with you in your pack. They are way too big. But, as always, there is another door leading out of this room to the next, and the door you just came from.
Astrid to Sanguifluus: "What did you do, Mr. King, to be punished with a life of imprisonment in this maze with those swords? And what of your brothers? Are they here to make sure no one as silly as I were to remove those swords from you?"
Keksi isn't giving up on the statues yet. She looks through her belongings, seeing what she has to work with.
38' of rope. 9 torches. And a bedroll.
Problem solving time, Keksi... What if you tied the rope to a statue, carefully tilted it down onto the unfurled bedroll, which is on top of the torches acting like rollers... You'll need help from one of your stronger adventuring companions to lower the statue and drag it back to the dragon lady, and be careful not to let it fall into any of the shadows in the stone room, but in theory it should work!
But it'll be dangerous to attempt something like that while the king is bumbling around. Better wait until he and his incorporeal siblings are put to rest.
Keksi takes a closer look at the statues: what are they made of, who do they depict, and which one looks like it would be least likely to break?
What happened to the stones now dropped into the shadows? (what was the athletics check for, did i mis something?)

I'd say about..30 feet.
Keksi follows Percival and Alira to the next room.
Astrid will use her Ring of Jumping and cast Jump on herself, assisting her to easily jump the distance from one door to the other.

"Spirits, what wounds! Are you alright, sir? May I assist? I am a (novice) medicine woman, and know a bit of healing magic."
Keksi assesses whether it would be safe to remove the swords or if she should just attempt to heal the king as he is.

Also, what is up with the clouds of gas he is expelling, are those safe?

Seeing the group moving to the next room, Kyah follows them.
Does it look like any of these are of a size that Percival could carry them out without issue?
