(Jubilee throws her axe at the Giant Boar, sticking it in it's side, then hacks at it with her single axe, causing a stream of blood to spurt from the Giant Boar's back!)
In a triumphant and slightly panicked tone Rori yells out, "That's what I'm talking about! Hit it again Jubilee!" The extra bit of magic Jubilee felt empowering her second strike begins to flow through her again. Rori casts Bardic Inspiration once more for her bonus action.
For the action, she pulls out the dagger she keeps in her left boot and chucks it at the giant boar, aiming it at center mass. For a bet to make some extra coin, she could hit an apple off someone's head. In the heat of battle with adrenaline flowing through her infernal veins, she's not concerned with hitting such a precise target.
(The stone hits the Giant Boar right between the eyes, stunning it! She's in really bad shape, but she makes one last desperate effort to get some offense in, once again targeting Jubilee.)
With one final slash of her axe, Jubilee finishes off the Giant Boar. It stumbles for a moment, letting out a shriek before falling over and breathing its last breath. Relief washes over you all. Suddenly...
Rori will walk over to Jubilee and clap her on the back, giving Gabe a thumbs up. Lightly out of breath from the exhaustion, she says "Well shoot, I ain't ever seen a hog that big. How are y'all doin'? I think I need to lie down for a bit, it's been quite the day."
She'll find a tree to rest against, "I know we need to find Bess, but it's getting dark. I'll do better tomorrow when I'm fresh."
Rori will put out her lute, examine it for any damage, and then absent-mindedly pluck a few chords sitting by the fire.
Staring into the flames, she'll say to the group over her light strumming, "Should we have shifts for watch? Watching you two beat the literal snot out of them there boars gives me little concern about anything sneakin' up on us in the night that we couldn't handle. I'm good with us all resting at the same time, but if need be, I'll take the last shift." She shrugs, truly indifferent to either choice, only certain in her choice to get a little shut eye to start the evening.
DMs note: In the interest of moving along the story, I'm not going to make you all spend too much time with the long rest. Everyone just assume you're all back at full health and spells. It's just a thing I do for time purposes. Also, Rori, I've changed your language proficiencies for creative license reasons. Hope you don't mind. :)
You all cut up some of the other Boar and have a nice meal over a fire, resting and talking about the battle you all just had. You all make camp for the night, with everyone taking turns on watch to make sure nothing sneaks up on you all. Nothing bad happens. You awaken, refreshed, and ready to continue.
You pick up the trail again and walk further into the woods. Around 11am or so, you reach a clearing. You slow down and see this:
(About 100 feet ahead, you see 2 goblins guarding a stone entrance. The goblin on the right looks like a serious little fellow, an intense look on his face as his eyes periodically scan the perimeter on the south side.
The goblin on the left, however, does not seem to be taking his assignment too seriously. He seems to be amusing himself with a dirty goblin magazine, hooting and hollering as he unfolds the centerfold and tries to show it to his more serious compatriot, who is visibly annoyed at his antics.
The two guard goblins start having an animated discussion... in Goblin. )
Spoilers for Rori (the only one here who knows Goblin):
"Check out the *unclear* on her! Huh? Buddy?"
"Knock it off, Krang! We're supposed to be keeping watch while the boss does his ritual."
(Krang looks like he doesn't give a shit.)
"Dude, you're such a goody two shoes! We've been here for 3 days and haven't seen one single person! Nobody comes here!"
"It doesn't matter. Something happens and the boss will tear into both of us. So do your job."
(mimicking) "So do your job..."
(The rest of you all hear gibberish, but the serious one seems to be angry at the lazy one.)
"What the hell is taking so long, anyways?"
"It'll take as long as it takes. Boss said it might take as long as 24 hours, and they just got started last night."
"Then the kid gets it, right?"
"Yup. Needs to 'spill the blood of the innocent' to make the place all holy for the Goblin God."
"Well, that'll be fun, at least."
(The tension between the two goblins seems to be eased. The serious one almost cracks a smile. The lazy goblin goes back to his post, sits on a stump, gives a quick glance to the area he's supposed to be patrolling, then goes back to his magazine.)
DM's note: Ok, so, just so you're all aware of the situation, you're all about 100 feet away from the guard goblins. If you try to shoot them with arrows from where you are you would have disadvantage if you have a shortbow, a javelin or a sling but if you have a longbow it's a normal roll. If you make it to the forest cover to the north you'd be about 60 feet away from the lazy one and about 80 ft away from the serious one. Also, if you want your damage to be non-lethal please let me know when you roll.
Rori, in a hushed tone, will convey what the goblins said to the group, "Ha, if they weren't the enemy I'd like to play cards with the one on the left. Bet I could take him for all he's worth... which if I think about what was on his dead friend, it wouldn't be much. But it would be fun!"
She gets serious and draws the group into a huddle, "I guess in terms of plans, we can either try to sneak over to that forested area in the north, and I could try to distract them. I have a neat trick where I can make the ground shake and sound like a stampede or something large is passing through. It might draw their attention and you two can sneak attack. OR we start charging and attack from here."
She waits to hear opinions and then adds, "Okay, and then another real question is are we going to leave one alive? If we do, I say we go for the one on the left, the one on the right seems too serious to give up anything useful about what might be ahead of us."
"Wait, you understood them? What did they say? Uh, yeah, we should try to leave one alive. But how do we go about taking them out? I can entangle them in vines if they get close enough together, do you think that might help?"
"I can be pretty sneaky if I need to be, and I could probably jump from tree to tree to get close to them if I go north. How would you feel I attack from the side, dropping in from the trees? Rori, before I drop in you could make it sound like a distant stampede and they wouldn't expect me to drop in. Gabe, you entangle one after the initial attack? What do you think? I can go north on this side until they won't see me cross over."
Rori turns to Gabe, building onto Jubilee's plan, "Well Gabe, you heard the goblin guards, and you seem to always have such pointed observations. What do you think of Jubilee's plan? Once she gets over to the other forest cover in the North, I can cast message and make sure we're coordinated in our assault."
To ensure they're on the same page, Rori will lay out the plan in full. "To recap— and feel free to pitch a different idea— Jubilee sneaks to the northern forested area. I will give her 60 seconds and then cast message to make sure she's in place. When I have confirmation, I can try and create a distraction. Jubilee drops in to attack from the side. Gabe will try and entangle the goblins at that point. We take out the rather serious looking goblin and leave the lazy goblin alive to question after."
Rori nods her head to Gabe's agreement, "Okay Jubilee, ready to sneak over there? You just ripped those boars apart, this is nothing!" With the words of encouragement, Jubilee feels that magic flow through her again, knowing she has a boost if she needs it.
(Rori casts Bardic Inspiration, a reminder that once within the next 10 minutes you can roll 1d6 and add the number rolled to one ability check, attack roll, or saving throw. You can wait until after you roll the d20 before deciding to use the Bardic Inspiration die, but must decide to use it before the DM says whether the roll succeeds or fails.)
