Badger: you see no obvious signs of an alternate entrance. You're fairly confident you won't be flanked from the wolf room.
The main passage from the cave mouth climbs steeply upward, the stream plunging and splashing down its west side. In the shadows, a side passage leads west across the other side of the stream.
From here, the dim light from the cave mouth ends. K and Ash will need a light source to see anything.
In the shadows of the ceiling to the north, you can just make out the dim shape of a rickety bridge of wood and rope crossing over the passage ahead of you. Another passage intersects this one, twenty feet above the floor.
When Badger reaches the first ledge, two things happen.
First, you all hear the thunderous sound of sudden rushing water. The passage you just left is flooded with rushing water that may have washed you all out of the cave.
Second, the ledge cracks under Badger's weight. Badger, please make a dexterity saving throw.
"Whew! That was close!" K sees the fork ahead. "The right path probably leads to the bridge and goblins expecting us. It's plausible that there are goblins left that don't know we're here yet. Or we can backtrack and take the stream route now that their trap is sprung."
You see no danger to the right; the path bends east. You look left.
This large cave is divided in half by a ten-foot-high escarpment. A steep natural staircase leads from the lower portion to the upper ledge. The air is hazy with the smoke of a cooking fire, and pungent from the smell of poorly cured hides and unwashed goblins.
In order to see this, you have held your torch forward, so any goblins in this area are aware of your presence. You see two crouching by the fire. Their heads snap your way and they hiss.
Ash pushes ahead past the wolf room, signaling that they should continue forward.
When Badger passes the wolf room, he looks briefly for any sign of an alternate entrance that could be used to flank them.

Ash stops before he reaches any other entrance or corner through or around which he cannot see.
"Hells. I can't see. Should we light a torch?"
K: "I'm not sure there's any alternative. We may lose the benefit of surprise, but us being able to see well outweighs that benefit."
Ash lights a torch. Does he see more?

Ash: give me a perception check.
Ash perception check: 12
Ash: you see a dark goblin-shaped thing sneak across the bridge, moving east. It is out of sight before you can react.
Ash whispers, "I just saw a goblin on a bridge ahead! Should we give chase or retreat that way?" He points to the steep rubble passage.
Badger: "Let's not chase into its territory; it may expect us to follow. Come, let's go west."
The three of you scramble over the tough terrain.

Badger dexterity saving throw: 18
Badger: you do manage to avoid the worst of the fall, but still fall prone and take 3 bludgeoning damage.

Badger: "I'd rather clear left so we don't get flanked. Let the right goblins get impatient and lazy."
Ash peeks right. If there is no danger, he'll start left.

Badger is up!
Badger squeezes past the halflings and rushes into the cavern to attack the nearest goblin with his battleaxe. 21 to hit, 2 slashing damage.
If he can get a quick look at the room with his darkvision, he'll call back to give them a count of enemies.
The goblin snarls at the cut across its arm.
You see 5 goblins in the lower northern portion of the cavern. It's difficult to see in an instant if there are any in the upper southern portion.
Ash is up!
