Nefire tries the door but finds it locked. She puts her shoulder to the door and finds it well locked. Not to say it cannot be forced open, but it could take a few rounds...
You will get through the door, the question is how long it'll take. I don't think we have a thief who can pick a lock so unless someone can figure something else out it'll be brute force. It's a thick, old door made to last the ages though so let's say it'll take 1d6 rounds to break it down... 5
For the round to count someone will have to make a DC 15 Athletics check. Up to 2 people can try each round to break it down. Nefire already did one successful attempt so we're at the number above minus 1 now. (Hell, could be open already... I should make it 2d4. lol... but no.)
Krumar takes out his birdpipes, thinking that would be best to hurry this madness along and begins to sing
In a room where dead goblins lay, in a quiet keep, There stood a door, so sturdy and neat. A short young soul with a heart so grand, Tried to break it down with a strong, firm hand.
Oh, tiny one, give it your best, Keep on pushing, don’t take a rest. With all that effort, and such a show, One day you might make it, who knows?
Nearby stood a friend, with a grin so wide, A ray of sunshine, always on their side. With every cheer and a sarcastic clap, They made sure their friend didn’t nap.
Oh, little one, so brave and strong, Keep on pushing, it won’t be long. With determination, you’ll find your way, Even if it takes all day.
Jordgubb is successful in assisting in weakening the door, the gentle jazzy sounds of Krumar notwithstanding... Three more successful Athletics checks (one success per round) are needed to finish the door off during Round 8...
If anyone wants to do anything besides bludgeoning down the door for the next couple of rounds feel free to chime in.
"Stupid door." Nefire mutters under breath. But as Krumar erupts into song, she stops what she is doing and just stares at him. "I um... thanks?" She scratches the back of her head, a bit confused if it was a song of compliment or sarcasm, but then decides she doesn't give a $hit and goes back to the door.
She pulls out her greataxe and grins, "See if you hold fast against my chopper!" and she swings it at the latch.
Round 5 and 6 go by with more attempts upon the door thanks to Jordgubb and Nefire. Meanwhile the chanting and the drums seems to pick up their pace, whatever ceremony may be going on elsewhere in these underground rooms seems to be coming to a head...
Krumar doing what he does best, pauses his song, picks up the goblin he killed and tosses it into the brazier he was just staring at while playing his birdpipes.
The flames change to a bright green color and flare up as the goblin is sacrificed to it's flames throwing a wave of heat and light through the room. Dramatic but harmless. Besides the dramatic show the only real effect is a bit of a THUNKsound muffled by the embattled door followed by it creaking slightly open...
Round 6 - The door's magical lock is released by the sacrifice to the flame and the way is now open deeper into the caves... Green Ring - Blessed - 4 rounds left...
Spectator View not updating for me so you see a bit through the "Fog of War" on the map... Opening the door reveals another staircase leading deeper down into the earth about 15' long and ending on a platform with an opening to the north. You see no goblins on the stairs or platform.
Everyone is up... Krumar's tossing a gobbo onto the barbie is considered a "free action."
"Krumar's brains, so sharp and keen, Outshine the might of Nef's strong sheen. For wisdom's light and clever schemes, Outdo the strength in brawny dreams
I will have to work on this one a bit and add it to the song of our glorious tale!"
Nefire does indeed spot something off about the platform at the bottom of the stairs. Oh there is fresh tracks and obvious evidence of the goblins walking over it but still, something about the edges perhaps? Bringing it to the attention of the others it is decided it is likely some kind of weight triggered trap... The trap portion you cannot determine.
I need a Dexterity check from someone to try to try to jam up the trigger so it won't go off. Straight roll if done by someone with, and skilled with, thieve's tools. Otherwise roll at disadvantage... I'll be using a bit of a bell curve success or fail here - Fail utterly horribly and you'll think you did an amazing job and all is well. Fail not quite that horribly and you'll know you screwed up and a second person can try instead. Make it and you'll make it and have varying levels of surety depending how well you make it. :)
Jordgubb bends down kneeling on the floor careful to avoid the pressure plate and dipping his snout level with everyone's ankles, he peers forward and points, "here, the footprintsss, none of them side by side, each time this was crossed it was only crossed by one goblin at a time... More than one goblinsss weight on here and it will trigger. Nefire isss a similar size but might be a bit more ahhhh, huh 'muscular' than the average goblin hm? But don't let that stop you from trying..."
Krumar tries to keep his laughter contained but chuckles a bit too loudly at Jordgubb's....observational skills. "Well can anyone disarm it? Although deft, my fingers are delicate"
"Deft and delicate may be just what is needed," the Red Branch Aspirant points out while taking a half step back away from the pressure plate so as not to trigger it by breathing too hard on it. "Worst case your fingers get jammed in there and stop the plate from triggering and stop you from playing music, no?" RBA then puts on a big grin and looks around to the others hoping he wasn't out of bounds jumping in on the insulting of one another.... But quickly sees nobody laughing so he blushes, folds himself into a little ball and takes another step even further back.
Looking it seems Krumar does indeed have the best chance. +5 Sleight of Hand (I had said Dex but I think this is a sleight of hands roll) - No thieves tools or know how but still, his disadvantage roll is +2 better than anyone elses....
ROUND 6 ENDSwith everyone huddles around looking at the trapped platform and nobody stepping up to do anything about it... Round 7 begins.
Nefire narrows her eyes at Jordgubb, "You two eh? Well. I'll be sure to let some goblins through next time alive so you can have some fun as well." She looks at RBA, a little confused by what he is saying and then rolls her eyes as he backs off as well.
"Bunch of $hit scaredy cats I'm surrounded by." and she moves forward to try and dismember the trap.
Krumar opens his mouth to object to her stubby little fingers prying and messing with the trap but he stands behind RGB in case it goes horribly south as he expects.
Exasperated and annoyed by everyone just standing around and looking at the trap, Nefire finally pushes people out of her way and looks at it herself. Digging through her backpack she pulls out an amazing amount of bric-a-brack until she finally settles on an old dented metal plate and a rhinoceros horn she took as a trophy from a hunt a year or so ago... Aggressively jamming these two items into the corners of the suspected trap segment of floor she then stands up, takes a step back and turns to the rest of the party while rubbing her hands together as if to brush off the dust. "There, ya cowards. Fixed!" she says with a large, satisfied smile upon her face.
More freely leaning out past the corner and looking north the party can see a dark hallway of about 30 feet that then opens into a room that is fairly well lit at the end. You can make out several goblins in the room even from back here, they seem to have their backs to you as they chant and sway slightly to the rhythm of someone's drumming. You can't see fully into the room, of course, nor make out from here exactly what is being done... but some kind of ritual or such would seem likely?
ROUND 7 ENDS with the trap rigged up to NOT trigger and you all cautiously looking around the corner, not yet fully comfortable stepping on it...
Nefire, Dabbert and Jordgubb are still under the benefits of Bless. The Gobbos you can see from here are 15 or 20' into the room so you would need to dash to get to them in a single turn...
Krumar standing back scribbles "ray of sunshine" in his notes

Round 4 is over...

Jordgubb rolls his eyes at Krumar and instead of standing by decides to pitch in when he sees Nefire struggle, (athletics 24)

Krumar recites a poem just for this occassion
"Krumar's brains, so sharp and keen,
Outshine the might of Nef's strong sheen.

Outdo the strength in brawny dreams

Nefire narrows her eyes at Krumar but decides it isn't worth and hefts her greataxe on her shoulder. "C'mon, let's go find this little girl."
She starts down the stairs, keeping her eyes peeled for any traps.
Perception 16
If she can ready an action, she will ready her dash to run at any goblin and attack that she sees.

Jordgubb moves forward without dashing and takes the Dodge action to hopefully avoid any incoming arrows.
As a bonus action he recasts shillelagh.
