"Yes, that was a bit of improvisation there. Usually my improvisations don't leave the audience quite so...dead," he gestures at the hellhound, "but what can you do? I'm just happy not to get my clothes sullied for once!"
The only thing that Thromkor notices which is peculiar about the Hell Hounds is that they're wearing collars emblazoned with the dish shaped sigil you were told was on the Mechant's equipment (see Post #1350)
Thromkor looks up from the hounds. "The bowl shape they mentioned at dinner last night. I believe they said a merchant was using the symbol. Why would a merchant have hell hounds?" He looks in the direction from which the hounds came. "Should we follow their tracks to find out what's going on?"
"Clearly this merchant or his gang is out for blood. You don't send hell hounds to make friends. Or maybe you do if you aren't the most intelligent. Either way, let's find out, shall we?"
“Someone from town must have worked for the merchant, though from dinner or the bath house who knows. The beasts burned my traveling robes! I agree let’s follow where they came from, odds are there is either a handler or summoner close by “

Grin would nod and and move to one of the fallen hell hounds before dropping to a knee. Placing two fingers into one of the open wounds of the creature, Grin will pull out his slick sticky fingers and give them a quick sniff before turning his head with a cringe and wiping them off in the nearby grass. "I have the scent, we have their tracks... I am sure I can lead us to where they came from." The shifter would say as he moves to stand up and adjusts his leather jacket. As Grin starts to move in the direction the tracks came from, his form will begin to change and shift. From behind you can see his bones and frame twist and shift around under his jacket as he takes on his more bestial appearance, sniffing the air and picking up spead as he moves through the woods.

Tracking the HellHounds - late afternoon Day 2, Second Ten-day, Month of Kythorn 1) The party was about a mile from the turn-off into the canyon where the Sacred Stone Monastery was located when they were attacked by the Hell Hounds. 2)"There they are"Grin says as he locates the tracks. The party follows behind as he follows the tracks backwards for about a mile before he realises that the Hell Hounds had joined the path the party had been following from the North. 3) After about 3 hours and six miles - to track the party cannot move any faster than 2 miles per hour - and just as dusk is falling, the party emerges from a gap in the rocks and find themselves looking down on a valley that is about 700 feet across. The whole valley is covered in a light haze. On the far side of the valley (northern side) they can just make out some form of tower. On the valley slopes leading up to the tower they can make out seven large campfires and in front of the tower a much larger fire is burning!
Gotrek just follows behind, not feeling very talkative. He has his Axe ready for any signs of danger. As he starts to walk he can feel some of the scabs from burns painfully crack. He turns to Thromkor and Tibold. "Any chance one you could offer a spot of healing? Those hellhounds tried to roast me for dinner!" He says with a grin.
"I don't have any magic like that friend" Grin would say looking back over his shoulder. "Perhaps you could ask whoever is camping off in the distance..." the shifter would say as he points his long somewhat canine looking finger off towards the fire in front of the distant tower.
We should be cautious, I was not expecting a large encampment. Though arriving at dusk and the haze might be to our advantage. And if the hounds came from here there might be more.

Does anything about this scene ring a bell with Thromkor?
Not specifically no!. The distance from where you've emerged from the gap in the rocks is about 200 feet away from the Valley floor and 75 feet above it - a 45 degree slope will look almost vertical so the slope looks steep, the Valley floor is about 200 feet wide and the slope on the other side mirrors the slope on the side the party is standing on.
Tibold grins wryly.

Thromkor walks over to examine the creatures.

So who is trying to track the Hell Hounds?
DM - Stopping a god in his tracks
Grin's the tracker.
That's what I figured

Tibold is lost in thought when Gotrek requests healing, but has the good grace to look somewhat embarrassed.
"Ah, of course, sir dwarf. My apologies for not noticing sooner," he replies, placing a hand on the dwarf's shoulder and muttering a healing spell.
Cure Wounds: 7 hp healed.
And that's all I have to say about that.
Thromkor also places a hand on Gotrek. He speaks a few words in Draconic, and his hand glows briefly, healing his wounds.
