Barnabus lays out the what is happening to the Ten Towns area, the overcast skies, Ravasin, and the sea monster. The reason for the heads and their ultimate goal to remove the kolbolds as well as stop what ever foulness is befallen the north.
Morkeleb claps Weathervision on the shoulder. "Still with us? That's a good lad!"
He will also go into a long-winded explanation of his ancestors the Vexashene and how glorious and mighty they were, and how he's out trying to gain renown for their sake, so that their name can be remembered and go down in history, etc etc
(Reminder, make sure you're leveled up, and feel free to throw any flavor text regarding it in whereever, if that's your thing)
When morning comes around, Nox departs from the group. Additionally, Speaker Oarus visits you in the morning. He is wearing less layers today, and is carrying the same bag Trex had the day before. "I see you've all slept well. I met with the kobolds again and I think this is going to work out. Termalaine will be richer for having these little workers doing specialized jobs. Now, to sort out your payment, I believe I offered you all 100 gold pieces for the work, yes?"
He produces the money, side-eying Senushi as not part of the group he saw yesterday, but shrugging it off.
"I thank you fine gentlemen for the assistance. I don't know if you're staying in town long, but you're welcome to stop in if there's anything you need in the future; I will hear you out. There's other matters I must attend to from here. Good day."
Senushi gladly takes the offered gold even though he had no hand in the events in the mine. "That is something right out of bardic tales but by your seriousness means it must be true. It is hard to imagine how we can change this dreadful winter. Well shall we leave? I am ready to go as it seems I will earn more coin traveling with all of you"
Barnabus makes a tactical assesment and tries to get another read on if the speaker is being honest. Not getting much, he tells the others after they've walked away a bit.
"Something still doesn't feel right here. I want to go see the kolbolds before we leave."
Remembering yesterday’s conversation, you travel to the edge of town, finding a sturdy, if rough-looking, shack. The kobolds are scampering about it, arguing over positions as they rearrange the mining equipment previously stored here to make room for themselves. The townspeople haven’t given them any trouble, but are giving the shack a wide berth for the time being.
As you approach, the kobolds are obviously still looking to Trex for his opinion on their task, but you immediately notice that his stance has changed from yesterday; he looks much less sure of himself now, and his fake wings are sagging downward with his newfound slouch.
"It is I, your fabulous bigger cousin, and savior to you in the depths of the mines. But Trex, why the gloomy disposition? I know not everyone can be as beautiful as I am, but surely you have reason to have some spring in your step? Have you not gotten everything you wanted?"
Trex looks at you wearily. He seems almost skittish, but musters himself for a fellow dragonkin. “I… it nice… me just not sure how this work out. Clan want me in charge. I no know why! Not good boss. But me try.”
"Aye! Heavy is the head that wears the crown. The ones that don't want it are the ones who must take it up. Aye! It insures that you will always put clan above crown. You proved it by worrying if you were the right choice to lead. Your people see it. Aye, Trust their judgment and do what is best for the clan. This may be temporary. If you see us again it will be to take you home. One last favor, please continue to mine the black shards. But be careful. Keep them hid. Tell no one. I will be back for them...and you! Of, course, and you.
Trex rubs the back of his head sheepishly. “Thank you dwarf. That kind. Me no sure what you mean about mine. Me no go to mine yet, just told we go tomorrow.”
Morkeleb, per the insight check, his confusion is 100% genuine. This is definitely Trex, but it feels like you’re talking to a different person today.
Senushi tags along and wonders to himself. Hmm... they seem to have some bond of friendship with this sad kobold. Is something off about him I wonder. For now, he holds his tongue and waits to see what unfolds next.
The other kobolds wave at you happily. Smol speaks up, “Trex been weird today. Like was right after yeti attack. Except backward. He got real smart then.”
Trex looks about at the mention of the bag. “Bag? Right! Forest lady give Trex bag. Say it full of food. Then.. then… what yeti Smol?”
“Me not know her. Raven Sin, me think. Painted face. She ask directions and offer me bag of food. Then things get fuzzy, dreamy. But now we here, and this shack much nicer than old nest! So we happy about that.”
He looks to the other kobolds, who all shrug. One speaks up with, “Trex get bag right before yeti force us out. He seem smarter in danger, so we follow him to mine. Skip a few days, meet you guys, here now. Trex less smart now we safe, but he get us this far, so we follow him still.”
Morkeleb muses aloud to the others that maybe the lady had given them some special food that helped them. Is it worth tracking the bag down at this point, or should they just be along with their tasks?

Morkeleb says,
"Wait a moment. Isn't that Trex's bag? But why do you have it now, Speaker Oarus?"
“Hmm? He insisted that I take it as a sign of goodwill when I came to see how many kobolds we were taking in. It’s a lovely gesture, I suppose.”

Morkeleb shrugs,
"If you insist. But remember, we've put off returning to Bremen long enough."

Morkeleb looks Trex up and down and his eyes narrow.
(I'm looking back at some previous posts)
"Trex, you spoke a lot more clearly down in the mine. Has something addled your wits?"

Morkeleb appeals to the other kobolds and says, "Now that's just not true. You were there! Wasn't he there, little cousins?"
"And another thing, I noticed you traded your bag to the Speaker. What's in that thing, anyway? Must be more valuable than we assumed."
Morkeleb is starting to suspect there was more to this yeti story than it first appeared.
"But a bag of food doesn't sound too valuable, even in these dark times. And who is this nature lady?"
“Me not know her. Raven Sin, me think. Painted face. She ask directions and offer me bag of food. Then things get fuzzy, dreamy. But now we here, and this shack much nicer than old nest! So we happy about that.”
