I am not a messiah sent to you by the Dark Powers of this land. I have not come to lead you on a path to immortality. However many souls you have bled on your hidden altar, however many visitors you have tortured in your dungeon, know that you are not the ones who brought me to this beautiful land. You are but worms writhing in my earth.
You say that you are cursed, your fortunes spent. You abandoned love for madness, took solace in the bosom of another woman, and sired a stillborn son. Cursed by darkness? Of that I have no doubt. Save you from your wretchedness? I think not. I much prefer you as you are.
Rosa will take the wooden windmill seal, quill, and ink off the desk. Then he'll pick up one of the three blank books saying, "I've been needing a new journal. Can you hand me the will? I want to see what they wrote." He'll read the will when it's given to him.
The will is full of heavily stilted language, as documents of that variety are known for. What you can suss out, though, is that it bequeathes the house, the windmill, and all other family property to Rosavalda and Thornboldt Durst in the event of their parents' death.
“So everything is lost then, as the poor kids are dead” says the ranger. He doesn’t seathes his swords. He feels weird and anxious in this envoirement.
Milamber, when you glance at the scrolls, nothing makes a bit of sense. You can tell that they are magical, but they are unintelligible to you. That said, Muirdan manages to catch a glimpse from a distance and can plainly see the harmony and perfection in the writing.
"Well now that we have seen that they were dealing with some pretty nasty summoning magic, Shall we go slay fell beast and free this realm of it's taint?"
Milamber says with an ironic twist to his mouth.

Setting down the chest, he absorbing everything that was said, often looking down at the woman and her chest before he walking over and examining the man in the other. Your group heads back upstairs and into the room full of sheet-covered furniture. Making your way to the section of wall the dollhouse revealed to be a hidden door, you press inward on a piece of wainscoting and the wall smoothly slides back and into the wall, revealing itself to be a pocket door. You are left facing the very top of a narrow wooden staircase and a passage filled with so many cobwebs you can't see more than five feet in front of you. Somewhere down the stairs, a simple chime echoes.
(OOC: Congratulations on completing stage one heroes! By discovering the hidden staircase, you have grown more powerful. Advance to level 2! Hit Points are the higher result of a roll or your class average plus your con modifier. You can roll that in here. Once everyone has advanced themselves to level 2, we will proceed with your delving into the depths of who knows what.)

Letter Contents:
My most pathetic servant,
I am not a messiah sent to you by the Dark Powers of this land.
Your dread lord and master,
Strahd von Zarovich

Rosa tells the group, "From what I can tell, they left everything to the kids." He looks at the scrolls and says, "Anybody know about magic scrolls?"
“So everything is lost then, as the poor kids are dead” says the ranger. He doesn’t seathes his swords. He feels weird and anxious in this envoirement.

Stepping forward Milamber nods. "I do, I grew up in a powerful magical family and was around them every day for most of my life."

(They are spell scrolls of bless, protection from poison, and spiritual weapon)
Muirdan relays that information to the rest of the group.

Arkanon grins to the ranger, his eyes going from white to a deep red. "Have you not seen my visage, friend?"

“That explains a lot...” answers the ranger smiling back, thankful that someone ease the tension.
