After throwing the goblin once, Vydar remembers something... Touching the gem on the hat once more, he wills it to reveal the trap it had been warning him about. "Hold up everyone, I may have a more efficient way around this. Not to mention if there's more goblin's ahead we probably shouldn't alert them that we are here."
Lev nods to Iolinder. Taking advantage of the enemy's confusion or anger is the best course of action.
"We'd best hurry then," he says gruffly yet quietly, following quickly behind Paevira. He is ready to take the lead if they wish to attack the goblins, though it all depends on his stealth.
Stealth: 9 (lol, I rolled a 9 for stealth on my last thread too... this is why I stopped rolling on the character sheet. I got the curse of the 9's and couldn't get rid of it. Seems like its back :'D)
Unfortunately, he takes a few steps forward only for his bulky equipment to clank loudly against the stone wall. He grimaces, then lets out a sigh. He usually isn't so clumsy. Maybe he'd be better off using his teleportation to surprise the enemy. But he'll wait and see what everyone else wants to do, hopefully he didn't just blow their cover...
'The treasure, traps and... Mushrooms will all still be here. The cultist might not. We should seize this moment of opportunity.' Iólinder said, throwing in his lot with Lev. Even if stealth could not be an option, he took stock of both Lev's and his own heavy armour, they could still blitz the goblins. 'Hit fast, hit hard, hit often.'
He threw a glance at Vydar. 'That protection charm is going to run its course soon. I rather not want to see you go do- get hurt again.'
(OOC: Ill run with dealing with the cultists first)
The group quietly heads back to the passage heading north.
You will need to go single file. Unlike the lower caverns, there are clear tracks here. This is the way they went after entering.
As you move forward, Vydars hat suddenly activates. He knows exactly where the trap is (another pit trip) He is certain there are no other traps in the vicinity. You can likely easily jump over it if you like and move forward or mark if you go back this way. There is no torch light visible as the thin cut-out passage winds and twists. you assume there will be light ahead as they lit the other rooms they were in.
Amdaeng and Zarbyn cannot see. (Let me know if you choose to light any torches.)
You realize you are getting closer, and you hear a number of goblins. It sounds like they are arguing, their voices sound strange to you. Maybe its goblins or the heat of the argument, their voices are very high pitched. You also hear a louder voice yelling, and the sound of something wooden hitting the ground and walls. (not combat, maybe anger and frustration).
(Need marching order in Owlbear (or on PBP so I can set you up for the combat.) Also, stealth. I'll take the best 3 rolls out of 6 from the group, as you can "help" each other. If you do well enough, you'll have a surprise round, Amdaeng rolled a 14 stealth)
Zarbyn sees Paevira throw some pebbles down the south passage before deciding to explore further and gets out his tinderbox and a torch. He was not elven and couldn't see in the dark so he would need some light to continue in that direction.
"Give me just a sec and I'll have a torch lit. Amdaeng and I are right behind you Paevira."
Once his torch is lit he will follow Paevira and hope Amdaeng and the others aren't far behind.
Zarbyn still has this torch lit which lasts for about an hour.
He tries to help the group sneak into the next room with the goblin voices and launch an ambush.
Stealth: 4
Zarbyn whispers before trying to sneak up on the goblins, "Use bows, crossbows, or spells but hit as many as you can as part of the ambush."

"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
Vydar finds himself nodding along with Iolinder as the man speaks of taking out the goblins before exploring. Then he freezes when the half-elf looks his way. Doesn't want to see him get hurt again? Geeze this guy really is trying to act like his father. This thought causes a mix of emotions to race through him, but as usual he drowns them out with irritation. He glances at the shimmering air shield in front of him, then glances back at Iolinder. Frankly, he finds that thing distracting, but he does know a good spell when he sees one.
He snorts, "Don't worry about me. Let's just get this over with."He brushes past Iolinder, and starts walking ahead of the group. Sensing the hat activate and seeing the aura around the trap, he holds a hand out.
"There's a pit trap here. It's the only trap between us and them. We should mark it mentally, marking it with light could alert our targets." He easily jumps over the pit, then looks back at the others and sighs when Zarbyn speaks up. Right, human's can't see in the dark. "Fine, whatever just hurry."
Once everyone is across, he will stealthily make his way towards the goblins. Though this time he will follow behind Iolinder. Feeling like the half-elf is watching him makes him uncomfortable.
As the group passes the pit, they see the glow of torches again.
They hear goblins arguing, their voices very high pitched and sort of quiet. They hear a deeper voice yelling at them (In Goblin). It is utter confusion. Now is your chance to act, they did not hear you yet.
"Quietly" creeping through the thin passage, you take a peak around the corner.
The cavern is illuminated by torches.
In the next cavern over, 55 feet away, you see what looks like a boy, dressed in ratty furs, wielding a huge large club. He stands in front of an open chest. His back is to you, but you catch the sound of angry rumbling (the deeper voice).
Then you see a tiny black dog or something run past him and growl as it moves out of your sight to the north. (It may have seen you!)
And finally, the strangest thing you've ever seen. The source of the loud high pitched argument.
At first, you think it is a large group of rats, but how could they be arguing. Then your sharp eyes see it for what it is. Two angry-looking swarms of goblins. These goblins, however, are no larger than mice. Their tiny scimitars and shields seem almost comical at first until you realize just how many of them there are.
Lev nods and follows the group, taking up a position behind Paevira even though he would have preferred the front. This cramped space will make it hard for him to use his reach weapon, so putting himself up front would have made more sense... that is it would have if not for how small these goblins are. Might as well use his feet against those things... and then, there's a kid? No...
Lev frowns, "Tiny Goblins... and a dog?"he whispers, "Then that..." he makes a small gesture towards the "boy" "Something shrunk them. That one is a giant."
This venture is growing more and more bizarre, but there isn't much time to think about that. Lev grits his teeth, breathing deeply to counteract the pain from his earlier wounds.
Second Wind: 3hp
After Paevira moves, he will take his action, rushing towards the little giant with his glaive.
(Okay, the character sheet roller has decided to remove my luck and give me crummy rolls for now. ...grrr)
(Ooc giant is 55 ft away so missile weapon with range, disadvantage for dagger or attack swarm one and two. Must also move out of tunnel or no one behind you can act. If try to pass swarms, opportunity attacks) please move in owlbear or have me move you.
The first few attacks are a bit awkward as you are caught off guard by the enemies strange circumstances. They seem to be under the effects of some curse that made them shrink!
(Can attack the hill giant with advantage, because he is turned away from you and does not see you enter the chamber, so Amdaeng and Lev can reroll their missile attacks. The swarms will see you as you enter but are surprised, no advantage)
(Please move tokens in owlbear or tell me where to place you)
