"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
Then in a lower volume of voice, "Remember the dwarven password."

Zarbyn steps forward toward the door.
"Unless someone has a way to confirm let me test it, if something goes wrong I'd rather it happen to me."

Lev puts a hand on Zarbyn's shoulder, "No. I'll test it. I have a feeling the password was enough, but if something goes wrong..." His eyes narrow as he looks at the door, not really wanting to voice the thoughts running through his head. Instead, he just walks to the door and moves to open it.
Zarbyn will try to discern if it's magical or related to magic in some way.

"Well, at least it's not dark down there."

As you descend the stairs, it opens into a 25x25 hexagonal-shaped room with tall walls. Hanging from a metal chain is an exhaust hood used for ventilating the hot work of smithing. Below it is a pool of orange lava situated 5 feet below the surface. To the north is a workbench, equipped with a full assortment of armoring and smithing tools. There are also several rune templates scattered about. These runes are used for marking armor and weapons.
Thalagar describes a mechanism hidden in the stone wall that will summon a box the shape of the shaft that will rise to this level. Within the box are a series of buttons. The top button is this level, while there is a button below that will lower the box to the lower mine entrance. He feels confident that the Kobolds will all be dead, but be wary. He suspects there are a number of creatures that have made their home in the abandoned dwarves mines. He describes the location of several hidden pit traps. On a door is a magical glyph that will activate if the dwarven word for Lava, "Boor" is not spoken. On the other side of the door, he describes a locked box built into the wall. At the bottom of a long stairway, is another room that he calls his workshop. A key will need to be retrieved from his workbench if it is still there. This will open the box. Examine the box and note the dimensions of the key hole. Then, find the matching key in the workshop. Within are a set of magical dwarvish gloves used in smithing. They can withstand tremendous temperatures for a short time. He also describes the location where he put the magical anvil to the far northeast room. Someone will need to be lowered by a rope into a pit. At the bottom of the pit is a river of lava and that is where he threw the anvil. He believes that his hammer is strong enough to destroy both the anvil and the artifact. However, there may be some unforeseen consequences.
"By the way, I advise you to refrain from taking any gold found below, as I fear it to be cursed and tainted by the anvil."
"So if I remember correctly we're looking for a specific key to unlock the box which contains the magical dwarvish gloves, but first we should examine the box's keyhole as it sounds like there could be multiple keys to be found in his workshop."
Zarbyn starts searching opposite the door with the glyph, following the directions given to them by Thalagar.

Lira int check: 20
Lira sees the faint outline of a glyph on the door.
Although she has never seen one, she know of their rumored devastating effects.
Zarbyn recalls a password was mentioned.
Zarbyn steps forward and calls out, "Boor!"
Then in a lower volume of voice, "Remember the dwarven password."
The glyph Lira saw seems to fade.
Vydar notes the magical trap is disarmed and the door glows no more.
Amdaeng waited til given the all clear she wasn't really sure how this magic stuff worked.
"It should be all clear now that I've used the password."
Zarbyn steps forward toward the door.
"Unless someone has a way to confirm let me test it, if something goes wrong I'd rather it happen to me."

The heavy door opens without protest or incident. There is a 10-foot-wide by 30 passage ahead, which then turns to the right and continues.
Rounding the corner, you see an interesting section of wall with a rune chiseled into it.
A long staircase leads into what could be a room below. Surprisingly, a bright orange glow comes from the room.
"Does anyone know what this rune means?"
Zarbyn will try to discern if it's magical or related to magic in some way.

(OOC: You recall that Morric speaks Dwarvish and recognized a rune on the bridge earlier.)
Amdaeng very much wants to head up the stairs but waits for Morrics identification before doing so.

(Just to move it along,)
Morric carefully takes a look. The rune in dwarvish is the letters: TH
Amdaeng does not see any traps. The stairs lead down to the light room below. (On the map given to you, it is the workshop.)
"TH"
Zarbyn looks down the stairs to the workshop, wondering what may be causing the bright orange glow.
"Well, at least it's not dark down there."
"Maybe that light is from a forge? Working with the lava...?" Lira reluctantly moves ahead to try to see what they are dealing with.

Amdaeng breaths out as she looks over the smithy, " Is the thing in that pool?"

The only standout is the dwarven rune, TH carved into the wall at the top of the stairway.
(OOC: It would be helpful to know each PC's location. (Hall at top of stairs, stairs, the room below). You can move your PC in owlbear.)
