(I hope you all had a very merry Christmas, and that Santa was good to you =) Let's recap and pick back up where we left off...)
Each of you are lying in an open coffin, jumbled together at the bottom of a 10' deep pit. You hear thumping and muffled cries for help coming from another coffin in the pile, but that one is sealed and stuck halfway in the dirt. You also hear the hungry shouts and slavering of approaching ghouls above you, although you don't see any ghouls...yet. The coffin-filled bottom of the grave pit is difficult terrain. The muddy, sloping sides require a successful DC 10 Athletics check to ascend. (Celeste passed it - meaning she has climbed to the top. Celeste, this is what you see:)
Looking around, you see a forlorn metropolis with geography similar to Neverwinter’s, but it’s dismal opposite. The sun doesn't shine here, and ash-laden fog rises from lava flowing through the city in place of Neverwinter River, choking the city. While Neverwinter is filled with living creatures trying to build a better future, this place is populated by Undead - and 12 of those undead ghouls are prowling the area around the party’s grave pit!
Celeste (and anyone else who climbs to the top of the pit), make a Stealth check to avoid being sensed by the ghouls!

As Celeste leads the way up the muddy slopes, she swipes some across her cheeks, and even rolls in it, humming and chattering in druidic as she goes. She manages to kick up a bunch of dust to potentially skew the view of her companions too.

The druid's green hues would go wide eyed and her mouth would hang agape. What happened? Was this really real? She would even pinch herself to check. Did they fall asleep and wake up years later? Naturally, Celeste would stick her nose up to the air to huff about. She'd try to wrap her own mind around it, however fully expects to have to lean on another to explain to her what she's seeing.

Davis will climb out of his coffin and approach the coffin where he hears cries.
He will use his divine sense to see if the 'occupant' of the coffin is undead. If they are, he will inform the group and climb out of the pit. Athletics: 10
if they are NOT undead, he will try to unburie and open the coffin. [LMK if u want any sort of roll here]

Waking up in the coffin came as a terrible shock. Vesta tries to clamber out of the coffin and up the side of the pit as quickly as possible, but she slides back down. Letting out a cry of frustration, she will instead join Davis at the sealed coffin.

Inside the coffin is the elf from the cage! He looks at you and smiles as you break open his coffin. "Ah, thank Deneir (a god of writing and knowledge) you were able to free me from that horrible ritual and then rescue me from the grave! I am Eldon Keyward - who are you?"

Vanizi easily climbs up, having been startled to find herself in what seemed to be a coffin and now surprised that they've been transported to this odd version of Neverwinter. Realizing the undead prowling about, she tries to keep herself hidden. (Stealth: 7)

"Oh, I am Vesta Trevelyan," says Vesta, the interaction feeling slightly surreal at the bottom of a pit with several open caskets. "Why did the cultists capture you?"

As the elf emerges from the coffin and begins to speak, Davis says the elv's first name, just as the elf does.
"Keldon I presume?"
"We were hired to rescue you, and a few others, from the clutches of a cult, dedicated to the God Vecna. You were the last one to be found, which is why I guess your name" he says matter of factly.
Davis looks up and see's the others on the top of the hill attempting to hide. It is unclear if he saw Vesta slide down down the hill, and would never say if he had.
"Well Keldon, how are you in a fight? Are you adept in magic? It would seem we are no longer in the catacombs, possibly no longer in Neverwinter for that matter. Stay close to us" and he nods at Vesta, "We'll get you home. Let's go join the others up top, let's move quietly."

Vesta nods at Keldon, agreeing with Davis. Then she silently prepares herself to make the climb again, hoping that she will make it this time.

Zyl flutters up to the top and watches the people below while picking mud off of her feet and clothes as best she can.
The elf nods and looks around. "Yes, the cultists were trying to extract my secrets as an offering to Vecna when you interrupted their ritual. Now, although I'm happy to be out of their grip, we aren't in a better place...I don’t know if the cultists planned to send us here, but here we are. Neverwinter has cracks between our world and the Shadowfell—Crevices of Dusk, they’re called. Planar travelers sometimes slip through."
As you climb up to the top of the pit (Eldon Athletics: 7; Stealth:16), he continues in a quiet voice. “We’re in a nasty city called Evernight. It’s an evil echo of Neverwinter, populated by undead. We arrived in Evernight’s graveyard because we left from Neverwinter’s graveyard. There’s no evidence of the crevice we came through. It doesn’t surprise me that it’s gone; stable crevices are rarer than spontaneous ones. But we need a stable one to get back to Neverwinter. First, however, we must get through these ghouls! I am a priest and will help you in a fight as best I can - but I am not a trained battle cleric! I will follow your lead!"
