As soon as he's through the portal, Zahkar finds himself staring at the huge mechanical creature. He expects the voice to make some kind of comment, however to his surprise it stays silent. Wow it sure is sticking to it's word for once. He turns to check that Esta and Tyriel made it through, then nods to himself when he sees them. He then follows the others to the stone terrace, still keeping an eye out for potential danger.
Tyriel eyes the new landscape skeptically, once again questioning whether the actions he's chosen to take are really the right ones but also seeing no better options at the moment. He huffs, then eyes the giant mechanical... thing. He notes the tracks, and follows the group silently. Could this be the robot they are looking for?

"I guess this tower is where we need to look," Halila says. Presuming the tracks do not lead away from this place, she will make for the stair to head up, keeping an eye out as she does. (Perception: 15)
(OOC - I have a couple questions. First, it seems most everyone has posted something about seeing the big walking tower. From the description though I've not seen anything saying we see anything like that. Nor the animals running off from it that are in the picture. I'm wondering if the divots that we saw and are tracking though are more likely made by something like that big tower rather than R04M - which seemed a bit smaller and had wings. But maybe whatever we are tracking is R04M? Or could be it? Just not completely clear.)
Esta, following the group along the track, starts humming a tune as she admires the vastly different landscape. It has been so long since she has been outside of any city, she has forgotten that even the simplest of landscapes captivates beauty. She breathes in the fresh air and smiles as she no longer feels the humidity of the city, the quietness of the wilderness. In this state, she nearly bumps into the rest of the group when they spot the new structure.
"Arghh sorry! Forgot what we were doing there for a moment... do we think that the machine has gone in there? May be worth taking a look." Esta says, trying to throw attention off herself so her embarrassment is not visible.
She will brush herself down, check her bow and blades, and start to head in with the group.
As you all get closer to the strange tower, there is a ramp that leads up to a 2 foot wide lip around the base of the tower, with 6 open doorways around the tower leading inside the bottom floor. Most of you would also see a small perch and door, about 30 feet above you. You don't notice anyone on the ground floor at the moment.
If you move inside though, all manner of tomes, scrolls, tablets, and folios cram the towering shelves of this airy library. An ancient wooden table surrounded by matching benches stands at the room’s center, near an ornate spiral staircase that climbs through the ceiling above. To the north are statues of githzerai scholars and an alcove with a table covered in candles. To the south, in another alcove, stands a crystal sarcophagus.
Looking around inside Halila sees all the books and candles and statues and tables. "There's a lot in here. But I'm not seeing R04M." She wanders towards the crystal sarcophagus to get a closer look. "I suppose we go upstairs to look? I'm not sure there's any clues here."
Sizzles eyes go wide as he enters the massive walking tower. "I could spend a lot of time researching here.. I wonder what kind of explosions I could create with the information in those books and scrolls..." he whispers before moving to investigate the shelves full of tomes and scrolls.
Sizzle wants to look for any spell books or magical books or scrolls. if he doesn't find anything of value there he would check out the crystal sarcophogus....
A quick examination of the books and scrolls and such on the shelves have a majority focus on esoteric philosophies of the Outer Planes and multiversal theories. It is possible, if you spent a little while here, you could learn more about them if you desired.
In the sarcophagus, you can see the mummified remains of a githzerai named Laxuelu (the name is etched on the lid) with brass eyes.
Among the candles you do find a candle of invocation that is mostly burned down. It probably has about an hour left of use.
Zahkar enters the tower cautiously, his visible eye darting around the place in an attempt to take in as much as possible. "We should make this search quick. Perhaps we should pair up and spread out."Once he voices that idea, he begins to question if it's a good one or not. Though he is aware that there are risks that come with any action they take.
Noting the candle, Halila debates in her mind whether to take it. "What do you suppose this place is? A memorial to this guy in the sarcophagus?" She finally decides she should at least extinguish the candle, so she does. "I really think we should just head upstairs to see if the thing we're looking for is there. Otherwise, we can move on."
From all of the books and scrolls, you can probably deduce that this level serves more as a library for whomever lives here, if anyone now.
When you're ready to head upstairs:
A spiral staircase emerges through the floor into this multiuse kitchen and social area. To the north, a ladder ascends to the floor above, and six simple doors ring the room. To the west are several cabinets and cooking spaces that have been pillaged, with pots and foodstuffs scattered across the floor. Two tieflings in spiked armor conspire over the table.
As soon as she notices the two tieflings, Halila tries to stay hidden. (Stealth: 16) She motions to the others to keep back, then quietly listens to try to hear what they are talking about. (Perception: 11)
Sizzle would take the candle if no one else does but otherwise leaves the books and scrolls. As the group heads upstairs he would stay behind halila before drawing his newly purchased wand..
Esta scans the room for anything of note, though it doesn't appear to be anything worthwhile. Moving on she thinks to herself, as she starts to follow up the stairs.
When Halila stops them in their tracks, she tries whispering up "Do you see something?", and waits on the balls of her feet, ready to leap away at a moment's notice using her honed cat-like skills. The waiting on the staircase does make her feel more exposed, so she will carefully pull her hood up, allowing her to blend in more with the environment, making it harder to be seen.
Hand by her bow, she waits patiently for Halila's response.
There's good news, and there's bad news. The good news the tieflings don't immediately attack as soon as Halila comes up the spiral stairs to take a look. The bad news is they still see her and stop what they're doing, drawing their weapons.
"Hey! What are you doing here!" The tieflings come around the table and start walking toward Halila.
Halila takes a couple of steps away from the stair, showing her empty hands. "We are sorry to intrude. We are looking for R04M - an automaton. We're not sure where it has gone."
She tries to show them she is harmless and just looking for help. (Persuasion if needed: 19)
Now hearing the movement beyond the stairs, and Halila's open hand gestures towards the tieflings, Esta turns her head to the others, and whispers "Guys, what are we going to do? Are we stepping out as well?". Considering Halila is now exposed and potentially in danger, Esta takes a moment to calculate the odds, and decides to also step out from the stairs, following Halila - though Esta will still have her hand to her bow in case things go south.
"Let's not do anything rash here boys. We're just looking for the automaton and we will be on our way."
Sizzle remains still behind Jalila but readies his wand. Clutching the engraved wood it begins to glow slightly. "Do you want me to blast them?.." The goblin whispers as a small grin spreads across his face.
