All you hear is the brass scraping against stone. There's no visual on what's causing it yet, and only Sera and Merkas could even hazard a guess.
But yeah... Ororana has been making Medicine checks to assess the party's health, and (since she is an NPC still and not a DMPC, until she officially joined the guild in the IC, and had a long rest to level up) made the decision that most NPCs make when a battle doesn't seem winnable anymore. She ran. And since she feels extra protective towards Merkas, she took him with her.
Hrothbert_Neruca Merkas is now draped across Ororana's shoulders like a scarf. So, you basically count as Mounted in terms of movement speed, which bumps you up to 30' per Move Action. Your hands are free to cast spells as needed. If we enter battle, it will take a Move Action to "dismount" if you wish to do so, but otherwise can't use your Move action to change your location on a battle map.
Just a warning... unless you all are going to hold hands and walk single file with Nare leading the way, this corridor is new for you. I've been "keeping the lights on" because pretty much everyone except Sera has some degree of darkvision. I don't know if you've ever walked through total darkness IRL before, but I have. When I say you can't see your hand in front of your own eyes, I am not joking. At a certain point, you're so disoriented, you can't even tell if your hand actually is in front of your face.
Your movement speed won't be hindered. You can go as fast as you want down a pitch black corridor. But, if you wish to move without risk of tripping, slamming into walls, or crashing into each other, your movement speed will be reduced to 5' per movement. I'll roll for probability when you move if you choose to go with the darkness spell. If you hold hands and move single file, you can move at half speed without a trip probability. Full speed with a small trip probability and Dash (or double move) with moderate trip probability. But you won't be able to hold other items.
I gave the cult members a bit of grace, because they knew the area well, except for exactly where the bags were. Even then, I made them move at half speed, and literally crawl to find the bags. But you're strangers to this sewer, and especially this corridor. Ororana made a snap decision to turn away from the sound of the scraping brass when Merkas made his ominous remark, and also didn't want to deal with whatever crawled out of what nearly already was a kill-zone. She remembers that the entrance had 2 doors: one leading west (that you went through previously) and one leading east (that you opted not to go through). Her lingering hope is that the door is locked from the inside (to keep strangers out) and trapped from the outside.
Oh whoops okay yeah don’t want us stumbling in the dark. I guess if we want Nare can be at the end to have him cover our trail with Darkness if that helps? If not then that’s okay! Sorry I’m currently doing a bake sale rn so can’t really check

Teehee. I wish there was something I could do to make you level up without a rest. Teehee.
Also, it's a bit amusing, but the closest of you was about 10' from the chamber with the exit. Sera is taking one of the correct routes. Perhaps not the shortest route. But in a panic, people make quick decisions... not necessarily efficient ones. And y'all do not want to get sandwiched between the two monsters heading your way.
Yeah sorry busy week and working in an area with spotty service so don’t always get to see the updates.
there will be a Merkas post before days end
If you wish to save a spell slot, you can undo that spell, since Nare already affected the creature with cold damage.
I'm gonna move forward. Hastos has been in no mood to fight, so I'm assuming he (with his high AC) will take up the rear guard and follow the rest of Dawnbound through the sewers.
As before, everyone take their turn, and then I will go. I'm invoking the 24-hour Turnover Rule.
Post your actions by tomorrow, please. If not, I'll autopilot you in the manner I think most accurately befits your character. I will not use any spell slots or consumables if I take your turn for you.
As it stands, Ororana does not have enough movement squares to exit the dungeon this round. Nor does Hastos or Merkas. Merkas will make it to the end of the stairs at the end of the round if he Dashes. Hastos will be at the base of the stairs. Nare and Sera should be able to escape though. The escape tunnel back up to the tomb is safe, as the Sacred Statue is bound to this subterranean lair. The door that was there was damaged pretty badly by the trap spell, and though it could slow the Sacred Statue down, it will not stop its movements fully unless it does very poorly on its STR check.
Do not say that! I healed the kender. Now he unplug the Efreet bottle.
We in deep shit...
I wish I could laugh react to a post on the Beyond. Best I can do is hit "Like"

They’re all yours.
Here’s hoping waking the town will bring some help…maybe

Sounds good
I changes Merkas’ question to reflect the information. He now asked Ororana “What do you think it is?”
Sera and Nare being nearby would likely hear as well.
