I hope I understood the mechanics of the flame sword. Without an operator, there's nothing to cast light, which may hinder combat for Sera who does not have dim-light vision.
If that's not the case, then the light remains where the sword landed.
Yeah, but you know, the dude had his throat sliced a bit ago. Definitely not enough for a dwarf to forget about it. Not that he's too squeamish or would have issues with other people using them. It's a violent world out there, after all, people gotta defend themselves. It's just that he's not too keen to use one right away, and might get into his thoughts about it and inner monologue if he gets a hold of one eventually.
Maybe I'll built a weapon made of boots. 😄 Those happy feet of yours really know how to dance around a jawline!
You would've loved my Monk's only campaign. It was titled A Boot to the Head, and I think you would've been the star.
Sorry for the blasé post. It's getting late, and it's been a brutal day, and my head feels like it's going to split in two. But my hard work this week is almost over. Tomorrow, I've got to bike over to a fax machine and submit the paperwork to get my kid back on Medicaid so he can get his medicine before he runs out. Pretty much everyone in Texas got kicked off government services last month, and it's been a struggle to get the forms ordered, filled out, submitted and sent. I have over 100 pages to submit by Friday, or the whole case starts over. Politics has no business being in health care. Especially a child's health care. But... here we are. Anyway... it's bed time for me. Tomorrow's the last real gauntlet, and then well... Friday's tough for a different reason. But then Saturday! I've got a friend coming over. The bulb on our old TV exploded. We found a used TV online to replace it, but now we've got to reduce the old TV to small enough chunks so that it'll fit in the trash bin. We've got 2 sledgehammers, 2 horseman's maces, and a killer setlist, and we're gonna tear that TV to pieces! I'll be able to get some of that frustration from the week out and get a good upper body workout out of it. I'm feeling good about Saturday. 😉
Thats i ok. A small post to get the story move on is just fine. I really hope things will sort out with the papaer work and your childs health. Also I hope the battle vs tv goes well ;)
Sorry, that some of my post have been rather uninspiring during our combat. I’ve been trying to check in during the day at work to help keep things moving along, but I’m very mentally taxed during the day and getting out of that mindset to reconnect to myself, the campaign, and you folks seems to be a little outside of my abilities while at work (for now).
I know we all have those moments where we’re just not feeling it, but I wanted to say this anyway. I appreciate that you folks keep things interesting and fun.
Now Seras pants are almost torn. What a girl need to do to get his attention?
But I am grateful the story just move a bit forward. My other PbP game I ran, Vampire the Masquerade Istanbul by Night died. I might post extra...got abstinences..
Dealing with medical systems seems problematic no matter where you are in the world. Here's hoping there is no delays for your response.
I hope I didn't overstretch but looking at using the 'feats' you allowed more. The strider reigns could be replaced with a rope from his pack to use the equipment section from the Sleight of Hand section of your Campaign notes sheet.
By RAW, hirelings don't actually level up. However, since you're a guild, you may be interested in recruiting members. According to encounter XP, Kasi has gained enough XP to become a level 1 adventurer class, and be part of the way towards level 2. If you wish to accept her as a guild member (not a member of the party, but rather as an NPC who pays guild dues as she takes on quests of her own), she can do so, and can gain levels from those "off-screen" encounters.
I've done this on other campaigns, and it'll add a passive income aspect to your game. Also, a levelled-up companion you can bring along who knows Yip-Yak, Draconic, and Common isn't too bad either. It's up to you if you want that. But I offer it to you as an option. Her current stats are a hybrid between the Veteran and Kobold stats. So currently, she's more resilient as an NPC, but not as powerful as a PC. If I build a character for her, my initial thoughts are to go with Sorcerer or Ranger. But if one of you wishes to take her under your wing and teach her your skillsets, she can be molded in any direction you like. Food for thought.

I sorry if I seems a bit eager...
Campaigns are rarely durable. Mine rarely last more than a few years. And the live sessions never make it a full year. It sounds like you had a really fun game going! And I'm sure you'll find another vampire game soon enough. I'll do my best to keep you entertained and engaged in the meantime.
Totally down with having Kasi part of the guild, get her built up as out blacksmith/crafter. In house repairs and passive income. Also having her connected to us would give her more protection in Santekh.
Sera can certainly have the shield, The scimitar is a decent weapon for any of us, Merkas feels bad for the “barking chicken” and would like to heal it up and keep it. Hoping the act of being kind to it will ease the anima handling rolls required. Trick will be keeping it from the horses and the horses from bolting.
Well how we face to the fact she gave away the caravan to the raiding Kobolds? I am neutral on this. She is hired for this mission and Sera not trust her yet. She have a tendency to withold information. Sera goes for the majority.
Keeping a dinosaur-fire-engulfing-horseeating Strider as mount? Thats crazy.. typical kender! Sera shake her head " it will eat you or incinerate you. But if you belive it is possible give it a try."
If no one else use shield can Sera take that since it seems like better than normal shield?
The sword contains an otherworldly metal that doesn't soften even under immense heat. Anyone can roll an Arcana or Religion check to understand its properties. With a basic inspection of it (whipping it around and testing the edge) you can tell its masterfully made and probably magical.

Any trained animal can be retrained for other purposes. Giant Striders are no different and they are slightly more intelligent than a natural beast. But Giant Striders, by nature, are Evil aligned, which (in my campaign) means they relish lethal combat, not that they're malicious. They are capable of forming meaningful bonds with their handlers, so long as they get to enjoy a good battle once in a while. Handle Animal checks will be frequent and challenging at first, since it's most recent memory is being killed by your party. But with patience, treats, and a confident hand, you should be able to attain a powerful mount that will unleash hell on your enemies.

Arcana 4 for the sword, Merkas is looking over the dead bodies not paying attention to the weaponry
(disregard the religion/nature checks one was curiosity the other was an accident)
Well, Sharn's gone sleepy-by. Kasi will dutifully work on harvesting the necessary materials from the Firenewt Warrior, and will help bind the Giant Strider if you intend to heal it. Literally setting it on fire will do the same thing, only slower.
Kasi follows orders. You can instruct her to work through the night and she will. And with the heat source provided by the entrails, she'll be able to do so without falling into torpor. But she'll be exhausted the next day and will need to sleep in the cart to regain her strength.

Whichever the party chooses, it'll ultimately need to be declared IC. Kasi gets to weigh in on the matter to. Her life debt is paid with the completion of this mission. Whatever else she chooses to do afterwards is up to her.

Excellent use of the ability, Hrothbert_Neruca. Had the Firenewt been able to attack again, that scimitar would've done something pretty nasty.

What kind of sword the Firenewt had?
