"How far away are these other sections? Perhaps some of you would like to join us in searching for your crew?" he says, looking at Lysan and Zasta. "We are very capable, but your presence may help us with finding the others."
Vesta lands upon the deck with the others and is surprised to find that the wreckage of the ship is still inhabited. She recognizes the yellowish skin of the people before her. These can only be members of the githyanki race, known for sailing the Astral Sea. The sorceress immediately thinks of a million questions she would like to ask them. What is their culture like? What's it like to live in the Astral Sea? But Vanizi and Davis remind her of their immediate goal of locating the piece of the rod.
"Pleasure to meet you both," Vesta says, her curiosity evident in her expression. "My name is Vesta."
When the giff makes his appearance, it's almost too much for Vesta to take. She's never met a giff before and can barely contain her excitement. That excitement is somewhat tempered by a sense of coldness that emanates from the giff's demeanor. He is not as pleased to see them as his joviality would suggest.
"What are cloakers exactly?" Vesta asks the pair of githyanki.
Vanizi listens to the various questions being asked after the giff had arrive. She mainly focuses on his offer for them to look around. "It is very kind to let us have a look,"she says. Turning to Davis she asks, "Have any more leads on where to look? Or should we just start looking?"
Davis gets a pleasant sense of goodness (celestial) from several sources throughout this segment, but since they are within the wooden walls of the ship, he only gets a general sense of their direction - below deck. He also only gets a general location of where the second rod piece might be - somewhere in this wreckage. (It doesn't pinpoint a specific location - where would the adventure be in that? =) When he asks about travelling to the other segments, which are only about 100 yards (90 meters) away, they shrink back and emphatically shake their heads. "Would ya swim that far in shark-infested waters? It's like that but worse. So no...we ain't interested in joining ya offboard..."
The gith describe cloakers to Vesta. "Well, it started with these surreal moans that terrified us in unexplainable, primal ways. Then, we saw several cloaks hanging on the wall, but it turned out to be a vicious creature that attacked and killed Dever! We managed to kill it, but I still get the shivers thinking about it!"
Map(You stand on the 30' x 30' Sterncastle deck, with ladders (steep stairs) leading down to the remains of the main deck. There is a door on that level that leads into the ship, and a ladder that leads down to the next deck.)
As the gith explain about the dangers of traveling from one part of the ship to another, Vanizi asks, "Couldn't we just float back up the way we came? And then move back down to other pieces of the ship?" But then she wonders, 'I guess we were pulled in this direction, even from far away. She isn't sure how much she could do it. But surely the others moved quicker than she had.' She gives up worrying about it herself and lets others just let her know.
"I guess we go down to the main deck then go into the ship to look around?"
Zyl shrugged and took a small bite of brownie. "Okay your loss, let's check out the ship then!" She gave a salute to the hippo man and the others and walked off somewhere. "It's this way, right!?"
"Well, that doesn't sound too good," Vesta says in response to the explanation about cloakers. "But we're a pretty capable team. We'll do some exploring and maybe kill some of these cloakers for you."
Vesta nods at Zyl and motions the fairy toward the stairs that go down into the next level. "Let's check out the next level of the ship."
The party takes the port ladder down to the main deck (Z1b on the map). There are ladders heading down to the next level (Z5), and a door that opens to a 10'x20' passageway with three other doors (aft-Z3, port-Z2, and starboard-Z4). The 2 githyanki remain on watch on the sterncastle (Z1a), and Ilren takes his leave to return to his cabin (Z3).
(You don't know exactly where the rod piece is...but, because this is play-by-post, I'll give you a hint that will cut out much of the material. You know that the rod is near the forward section of the ship.)

[I want to make sure I understand so I don't assume and make mistakes. :) We are currently in the stern of the ship, but the Rod piece is not in the 'front' of the stern of the ship, but it's in the front of the ship, or the 'Prow' section, which we have to travel to. Is that accurate?]

He will lay on hands himself for 25 healing.

Davis will head down!
Lyrena joins them.

Davis would attempt to lead the party on the most direct route to the Rod Piece.
Vanizi is fine with just following Davis. If there is no indication, she suggests they follow Ilren to check his cabin first.

Yes - in the prow section =)

[thanks! Davis will share the info about the prow section with the others]
Davis will go with Vanizi to Ilren's cabin.
(Let me know if the party wants to follow Ilren to his cabin, or proceed to the prow section =)
Love God. Love Others. Any Questions?
Zyl was just wandering off anywhere so the party can drag her to the office or point her toward the prow and she'll go that way. :)
Yeah, Kat is just sort of following the party.
(Apologies again that I keep going quiet... I have a lot of stuff on my plate right now).
Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
