"Oh dear, did you hear that Thistle, Meastro of Mayhem, what a grand title." The young dark-haired lady says with an amused smile. "I will make sure to give you a performance to remember."Thistle pipes up as he briefly appears again with a mischievous grin on Delilah's shoulder, giving everyone a graceful bow before disappearing again, flying back to the Varkenbluff museum where he would examine the Allosaurus for entrances.
Perception: 8
"Now let's see what the good doctor has for us in her enchanted handbag. Stay with us a moment Mavilius dear, there might still be things to see here." Delilah says calmly as Thistle has left, placing it on the table, then slowly starting to unpack it in front of the others.
Delilah started pulling things from the bag of holding and placed then across the table after the food was moved to a small sideboard.
A red silk dress richly embroidered with matching petticoats, A mans matching trous and jacket in a deep maroon with golden embroidery with a beautifully embroidered shirt of silk and lace, A blue silk dress with pale white and pearl embroidery with matching petticoats, 6 invitations, 3 pass cards, A set of thieves tools, A large piece of jade that looked similar to the eldrich egg a good swop for the real one, 6 different masks made of copper with decorations, A key but no instructions as to what the key opens.
Althea sips on her ale then answers Exa. It's about 12 metres from the floor to the skylight. You'd have no trouble rappelling down, getting back up with the egg in your arms could be difficult however. Maybe you could pull it up after you've clambered back up the rope.
I'd suggest purchasing a Burglar kit, an Antitoxin and some sleeping potion. I can give you some fake Gemstones that are the same weight as the real ones on display, assuming that you intend to take some if the opportunity happens.
The forum dice didn't work for perception so I rolled it for you 15 plus the bardic inspiration, 20. If the forum screws you over please resort to real D&D dice at home which I allow under a honors system.
Kyreth listens to the discussion about the skylight. "If we both go to the skylight it would be easier. One can rappel down, while the other lowers a bag or sling for the egg. Once the egg has been hoisted up, they can help with the climb back up if needed."
"That would certainly make the skylight easier," the tabaxi agrees with a nod and a twitch of her ears. Climbing in and out through the roof sounds very heroic to her. A heist bards would sing about in the Yawning Portal for decades...
"It's not very subtle though. If we get caught, it'll be hard to explain away, even with our student get up. I think it'll be easier for two student volunteers to get close to the egg, wait for the distraction, use it to grab the egg—and some other gems," she adds with a wink, "and then use the chaos to slip away. That way if we get caught we still have a chance of talking our way out of it."
"Yes, while it would certainly make for a more elaborate way to acquire the egg I doubt you will need to make use of the skylight. Posing as student volunteers and using the ensuing chaos to make the acquisition and get out seems like a good plan, although I'm sure the God of Thieves would look favourably on any students able to obtain other pieces in the gemstone wing." The dark-haired lady says with a small smile as she looks over the red silk dress to make sure it will fit her. "I would like to draw an invitation and a security pass card from this and leave the bag and the rest to you now." She says, looking between Exa and Kyreth and the items on the table.
I'll take one of the invitations...I have business early in the evening at the Museum, sadly I won't be around for the entertainment. Exa and Kyreth need the last two passes.
I have made arrangements so that the 4 Zhents won't trouble anyone again. They were caught pressganging men from Floras brothel down on the docks. The watch took a dim view of slavers...they're dead.
The tiefling can't hide his enthusiasm as he scoops up the maroon and white outfit as well as one of the masks; the ensemble practically speaks to him.
"I doubt I'll be needing an invitation since the Curator invited me personally, but you never know,"he says, carefully taking one of them as well.
The young dark-haired lady nods and smiles as the Althea mentions that the brutish zhents had been dealt with. While not all cold-hearted, she had little or no compassion for the would-be-tyrants of the Black Network and their murderous thugs.
"Judging from what I have observed I would say the cards simply temporarily deactivates the alarms as they are brought in close proximity to them." She calmly explains to Exa and Kyreth. "We can keep our eyes open and see when the gemstone wing is opened and we will know for certain." She adds.
Althea put down her tankard and filled the bag up with the jade fake egg and a pouch of fake gemstones. She places the key into Exas hand, This key may save your life.
You'll need some rope and a grapple in case of an emergency, buy a Burglars kit and stash it in the bag. If anyone asks its a bag of silk serviettes for the gala, she adds a handful of neatly ironed silk embroidered linen napkins in the top part of the bag. Whilst I don't know the security measures put in play for the egg, I do know that there are pressure traps and poison in play. Be sure to replace anything you take with a fake, it will take them longer to notice that their prize is gone. Take your weapons in the bag, just in case.
Another cleric enters the room and takes away the dress left behind. Like Althea he wore his thieves leathers and weapons. He comes back and brings a large ledger. Althea nods at him They may need a few items Adrian, I'll leave you to sort it out. With that the High Cleric left the room padding away silently.
Kyreth looks through his equipment and stashes anything he won't need into his backpack, before turning to Adrian. "May I leave this safely with you until we return?" He pauses for a moment and removes his rope from the pack "We may need this." He passes the rope to Exa "Would you stash this in the bag?" He grins "We can never have too much rope."
He turns back to Adrian. "I don't need a full burglar's kit, but I'll take a grapple, crowbar and some ball bearings, if you have them."
Certainly I'll stash it in the Armoury, he leaned forward and marked his ledger adding a label to the straps on the rucksack. No charge.
Adrian looks at the back of the ledger where prices were scored. They are pretty rudimentary I have all of those in stock. 2GP. The ball bearings turn into calthrops on contact with boots, they won't be following you. Are you after any potions?
The standard Thieves mix. Acid bomb, fire bomb, healing, antitoxin, poison, invisibility, sleeping potion. You might want to join forces as they are rather pricey, the Antitoxin is 50GP but it works on all poisons a specialty of our alchemist Janice.
It takes Exa a few minutes to extract all of the daggers she has strapped to her armour, but eventually she stashes them all in the bag of holding. She looks longingly at the last one before dropping it in.
"It feels weird not having them on me,"she says with a frown.
Then she turns to Adrian.
"I already have my own burglar's pack, but I'll take a grappling hook if you've got one. And a forgery kit? I could copy this permission slip for Kyreth."
Certainly, that would come to 16 GP. Are you certain that you don't want an antitoxin potion? Adrian pulled a small chitty from his ledger and pulled the bell cord in the corner. A young thief appears and takes the chitty, the goods will be with you within the half hour.

Exa
The Tabaxi considers the skylight exit with a thoughtful rub of her chin, her whiskers twitching.
"How far up did you say that skylight was? Sounds like it might be a way in, but going up that way would be tough."
While Delilah started to go through the bag, Exa fished her student's uniform from her own pack and held it up against herself.
"How do I look?"
