"No, I don't believe so, thank you for your hospitality and your gracious help High Cleric, we will not fail you, the city or the Golden Vault tonight."The young dark-haired lady says with a graceful curtsy, and bringing the red silk dress and her wine she then follows the young cleric to the green quarters. "I hope you won't completely dazzle us with your performance tonight dear, save something for after we have saved the city would you?" She leans in and whispers teasingly to in the composer's ear before leaving the map room.
You'll want to turn up there at 4 bells, that's when the students arrive for galas. Make sure that you are sharp as the secretary allocates tasks on a first come first served basis, and we don't want you cleaning out the privies! As for the bag say that you've just collected the serviettes from the laundry, you certainly smell the part. Stash the bag somewhere safe in the Gemstone Wing, you could use the cleaners tunnel as there will be no cleaners there tonight, one of the students will be allocated to spillages.
"I'll take the bag, that way your hands will be free for anything which needs finesse. If something needs brute force & ignorance, I'll take over." He winks at Exa. "Now for a quick change of clothes and we'll be on our way.
“I make no promises, my dear,” he murmurs back to Delilah as she passes, voice rich and warm. “But should I dazzle too brightly, consider it motivation to end the night in triumph—so there’s still time for an encore.” His eyes follow her briefly as she departs, the smile lingering like a note held just a breath too long, before he returns to his preparations, fingers already itching to play.
The tiefling hurries over to Kyreth to add his old lute to the bag. "Don't forget this. If you two have time to swap it out for the Doss Lute that should be on display, that would be lovely."
"We'll see what we can do" says Kyreth as he places the lute in the bag, underneath the napkins. Having quickly donned his student robes, he turns to Exa "Ready when you are."
Exa returns from having changed into her student robes. She strikes her most academic pose, pretending to hold a book out in front of her and reading it intently.
"How do I look?" she asks with a grin.
"Okay, let's go!"
Her tail is swishing excitedly behind her as she males her way out of the map room and toward their destination.
[[Exa bought a forgery kit from Adrian and she's proficient with it. In the time here could she have tried to forge the letter she got excusing her from classes?]]
Exa you have successfully forged a copy of the letter that you found in the laundry, and given it to Kyreth.
It takes half a bell to walk to the Museum, the two of you careful not to get your robes dirty. When you arrive there is a queue of students. You push your way carefully to the doors and are met by Maryam Bikram the guard captain. She is staring at the bag Kyreth carries.
"Yes Ma'am. It's just clean napkins from the laundry. Could we get in quickly? We're running slightly late, and we don't want to lose merit because the guests don't have napkins. We got held up at the laundry" Kyreth tries to look suitably worried about being late.
Maryam looks inside the bag and sees a pile of serviettes with the Museums logo embroidered into it, an overwhelming smell of soap rose from the bag. She also looks at Kyreth and breaths in his scent of sandalwood soap. You stopped for a bath she smiled. Go straight to the secretarys' office and see what she needs done. Grendor get these two into the office as soon as possible.
Grendor Battleaxe grabbed Exa and Kyreths arms and pulled them through a crowd of students to the secretarys door, elbowing his way through. Two students for you Eriniel, they picked up a bag of serviettes from the Laundry.
Eriniel looked up from her desk Thank you Grendor. Oh my...what to do with you. She smiled as if she meant it. First of all take all of those serviettes up to the Cafeteiria and stack them on the buffet. Let's see, do you have a patron coming to the gala?
Exa obediently lets herself be escorted through the museum to the secretary's office, though she spends the walk there peering around the museum and making note of the exhibits, the hallways and, most importantly, the exits.
"Yes, indeed, Madam Secretary," Exa says deferentially with a small curtsy.
"Our generous patron Lady Graham will be in attendance tonight. She's very much looking forward to the gala."
She keeps her eyes down mostly, trying to appear like a good, obedient student.
"We'd be grateful if you could assign us a task where we could make her night even more special."
We normally only attach one student per guest to act as their server for the evening. I see that Lady Graham expressed a wish to have a table in the Gemstone Wing. She riffled through her notes. So you two are Exa and Kyreth I take it, she mentioned you in her missive. Kyreth I suggest that you act as her personal aide, you can tuck that bag away under one of the pedestals. Exa I would like you to act as a wine waiter, Waterdhavian red, and roam the Gemstone wing to serve the guests in general. At least you won't be drinking any alcohol, last time our wine server got drunk and passed out. Any questions?
As Kyreth and Exa talk to the secretary Eriniel, the Temple bells strike 4 bells.
Mavilius marks the time. Althea suggests that he makes use of the red room to change and store his things in safely, it is part of a guest suite that has four bedrooms, Delilah has the green room.
A carriage will call in time to get him to the Museum for 5 bells.
Mavilius inclines his head graciously at Althea’s suggestion, golden eyes flicking toward the hallway with a glint of anticipation. “Much appreciated, High Cleric,” he says smoothly. “I’d hate to scandalize the nobility with anything too...sharp.” He heads to the red room with his usual flourish, carefully storing his weapons, thieves’ tools, and anything else that might raise a delicate brow if discovered. With everything tucked safely away, he changes into his elegant new attire—rich fabric, precise tailoring, and just enough flair to be unforgettable—and pauses only to slip a copy of the completed song under Delilah's door before stepping out to meet the waiting carriage, not a moment late.
(Questionable items unequipped and moved to backpack, which is then unequipped)
"Yes, madam. No, madam," Exa simultaneously agrees to her task and assures the secretary she won't be partaking of any of the Waterdhavian red.
"After we put the serviettes away shall we go straight to the gemstone wing? Are all the preparations done? The guards and security and such..." she waves a hand vaguely as if she has no idea what those things might be.
The Gemstone Wing is still locked, it will be opened when the bard arrives at 5 bells. Make yourselves useful and stay out of the way of those with earlier duties. Take the time to acquaint yourselves with the second floor if you haven't already. The tables in the Gemstone Wing were set earlier today, but if you find something in the wrong place, I expect you to rectify it. This is a team effort after all. The Ground floor exhibits are out of bounds tonight and the alarms there will be turned on, so don't go wandering.
Kyreth raises his hand, as a student would, then looks sheepish and lowers it again "May I clarify something Ma'am. You said if we find something wrong with the tables to rectify it." He tries to look confused "but the Gemstone Wing is locked? Would we need somebody to let us in?"
She smiled leaning over her desk to look Kyreth in the eye. 'There are two guards by the door, they are told to open the Wing when the bard arrives at 5 bells, so you have a half hour to look around before he arrives. The nobles are expected to start arriving at 6 bells. Kyreth you need to come to the Entrance Hall at 5 and a half bells just in case Lady Graham is fashionably early. Just do a quick check of the table layouts when you get in.
Meanwhile the young dark-haired lady has made herself comfortable in the exquisite green suite, quite pleased with the comfort and tastefulness there, first resting and later washing up, even taking a bath if possible, before getting into the red silk dress and fixing herself up for the gala, finally making sure the mask fits her well and compliments the dress nicely. It was mostly in the hands of Exa and Kyreth now but although she had barely met them she had a good impression of them being both competent and professional, and although they would have to expect at least some unforseen events this evening she had no doubt in her mind that the city would be safe.
