"That's it, Sunhill," Skritch sends to his faithful steed, "you're getting it...
"Whoa, boy. Maybe a little less, er, inhaling of collapsed tower debris...
"I say! Whoa! I say! Bleeerrk!"
Skritch suddenly finds himself upside down in mid-air, still is a seated position, just with no saddle between his fluffy little thighs.
For a moment everything goes sling-bullet time. Skritch sees poor Sunhill, frozen mid-sneeze. He sees, the remains of the tower's entry alcove, a ruin in ruins. He sees the arrow slot window he's heading toward.
And he knows what he has to do.
Skritch spreads himself thin, as thin as his minute studded leather armour will allow. He orientates his pitch and yaw just so. He even has time to rue the fact that there are none of his "flying" cousins there to witness his maiden flight...
Then he swishes perfectly through the slot and out of the crumbled keeplet.
Any party members outside see Skritch launched through the slit on his side, level out, do a half tumble, still in flight, to land in a sitting position in the one local tuft of grass like it's a wing-back arm-chair.
"Now," Skritch broadcasts, patting his pockets, "where the devils is my pipe..."
Rachus is watching in amazement, and he thinks to himself. No one will believe me in recounting this feat of acrobatics. At least I know it was real. He stands next to his pony waiting to see what Vakas finds. To Scritch "That was hands down amazing, and I am glad you are safe"
OOC: Skritch take inspiration for that performance :)
Vakas (with an 18) the ashes of the camp fire are old, probably weeks, maybe months. You can learn little from the few tracks that remain, boots, probably human but who can tell. You pause in your search to witness the acrobatic antics of your companion, before heading into the tower entrance where Sunhill still stands confused by the sudden absence of his rider. There is little to see in here and you are about to turn around and leave when a soft glimmer catches your eye.
You crouch to brush away the dust and grit from the item and see that it is a ring. A set of three interlocking rings in fact each with a precious stone set within it; ruby, sapphire and opal. As you pick it up you feel a soft tingle brush across your palm and up your arm. The touch of magic. You return to the others ring in hand. Do you show it to them? Do you wear it?
Skritch dusts Sunhilldown and straightens his saddle.
(OOC, Inspiration added. Checking mechanic? Does it go away, if unused when we take a long rest?)
Skritch mounts up for the next leg of the journey. Hmm, he thinks, watching Vakas with his new bauble. Should be fine. Never heard of anything bad happening from an adventurer finding some random ring in some out of the way spot...
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The tower dwindles behind you and before you, the land rises and falls in jagged swells; a wilderness of stone and scrub where no path welcomes the foot, only the rough etchings of ink on the map offer any promise of direction. Progress comes hard-earned, each step a contest with the earth itself.
Above, the sun haunts the sky like a pale ghost behind the scudding, leaden clouds, casting more gloom than light. By the time you crest the shoulder of a wind-scoured hill, the day has worn long and weary. There, stretched out beneath you, lies your destination: a dark wound yawning in the flank of the next rise, wide and jagged as if the world itself had been split open. A cavern, leading to the kobold lair, and how can you be sure? 7- of the creatures guard the entrance...
"You realise that all your lives you have been coasting along as if you were in a dream. Suddenly, facing the trials of the last few days, you have all come alive."
Welcome to Level 2
OOC: Please level up your characters and Dealuri... make a wisdom saving throw :) Vakas you can deal with the ring either on the journey here or now as you look down at the Kobolds and the entrance.
No, it's more than just pride, it's the feeling of nature itself... backing him. Him. He feels alive. He goes to let out a high-pitched squirrelly screech of exultation, thinks better of it, looks at his companions, then can't help himself.
He screech twitters, calling an Entangle from the very earth to trap, so they're restrained, as many of the little dragon-wannabes as he can in a 20' x 20' square (DC 13 Str).
In the minds of his party the scream translates as, "GAME OOONNN...!"
Looking at her companions' violent reactions to the sight of the creatures, Dealuri says, "Oh, so that is what a kobold looks like. I thought they were bigger." She decides one of them would look better with an arrow in it so uses her longbow to try to give it that decoration. (Attack nat 1+9=10, damage 12)
“Hey, there’s a whole group of them! They can be deadly in numbers, I have heard. Let’s not just start slinging spells until we figure out what we are doing, some sort of strategy.” Vakas has an interesting looking ring on his finger of his left hand. “Hey, d’ya see this? I found it back there in the dirt, looks nice, eh? A little something for our troubles… anyway. Let’s talk about this.”
Vakas crests the ridge and then backs up, stepping off his horse and tying it up if he can. He sneaks up the the top of the ridge and looks over while lying down, observing the kobolds. Watches to see if they have been set out to guard, are they a hunting party, moving toward them? If anyone is with him, he talks in a low voice, or if not he backs up to the main group and says “How should we handle this? We don’t have good odds if we just run right in… I wonder if there is a way that we can lure them here and then ambush them. What do you think?” Vakas examines the area for spots to hide, to create an ambush…

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Rachu stops as soon as he sees the craggy cave and the menacing kobolds. Seeing rocky outcroppings at the cave entrance like a fanged maw he quickly looks around for such formations closer to himself. They need not be large as he is rather small. If there are any scattered nearby, then he will maneuver clio behind one and use it as cover as he assesses the situation.
Vakas you carefully and deliberately assess the situation, considering the best strategy for dealing with these diminutive demons. You position yourself silently, stealthily and secure in the knowledge that these creatures are not aware of you presence. Surprise is on you side. On you hand you wear the ring that you found back at the tower, you feel the tingle of magic from it, but as yet have not ascertained its purpose.
You ask that final question... "What do you think?"
"GAME OOONNN...!" Skritch lets loose his spell as grasping weeds and vines sprout from the ground all around the kobolds. They squeal in terror and surprise as they try to fight free of the entangling plants.
Skritch you see that several of the creatures have been restrained preventing them from retreating back into the cavern entrance. The others look around wildly for the source of the attack as you fire up your shillelagh.
Thanadol you leap over the precipice and race toward the kobolds, you cant get close enough to catch all of them in the spell- but the four in range are immolated by your fiery blast. They scream briefly before dropping to the ground. Charred husks of bone and ash. The three restrained Kobold who remain are now wild eyed with terror.
Dealuri (A 10 will miss) your arrow thuds harmlessly into one of the dead Kobolds adding insult to injury. Despite the miss the thrill of battle pulses through your veins and something within you begins to shift and change there is pain and madness there also but (with a 20) you manage to shove it away as you grasp this new feeling and pull it in tight. The world around you seems to explode into life as your senses become more acute. Suddenly you can smell the fear of your enemy, even beyond the smoky ruins of their fallen comrades. (OOC: You now make perception checks with advantage if they involve your sense of smell).
Rachus you watch while the squirrel and the wizard rain down magical fury upon the enemy backed by the arrows of Dealuri.
One of the remaining Kobolds manages to retrieve its sling and sends a stone flying toward you Thanadol as the closed visible enemy Attack: 13 Damage: 6
“Right, guess we’re doing this…”. Vakas pops up over the ridge with his short bow, attacking after being hidden. He has trouble localizing a target after the chaos going on below.
Attack : Short bow, from hiding : 10 to hit, for 10 points of piercing damage if it hits, 1 point sneak attack damage.
Movement : none
Bonus action : Hiding back below the ridge, out of sight.

Thanadol you retaliate, sending your firebolt back toward the offending kobold. There is a sharp whistle and a crack as your spell removes the creatures head, leaving a smouldering ruin atop its shoulders as the body slumps to the ground. Only two left now for your companions to dispatch as you place some distance between you and the surviving kobolds
Vakas (10 will miss) you release your arrow but it goes wide, disappearing into the darkness of the cavern.
Skritch you slam your firebolt into one of the two remaining kobolds bringing it close to death.
The other remaining creature slings a stone in your direction Skritch with a defiant snarl Attack: 5 Damage: 4
The smell hits her like an anvil. "Whoa, those are some scared critters. Uggh, and some toasted critters, as well. Hmm, I smell something else, as well, that I don't recognize." Then she gives off a terrific sneeze. She quickly composes herself then fires at the uninjured kobald (attack 24, damage 13). Her nose sends another message, one that would wake even the fried kobalds.
