More or less as soon as everybody is ready and I have written an intro post. I'm not in a massive rush, but I'm ready to go when the party is.
EDIT - I have to go for tonight. I'm short the bard and the rogue for now in terms of characters I can see added to the campaign. I don't understand why forest gnome isn't available on DDB. I mean it's in the core rulebook! Hopefully we can find a solution for that. Do join the discord channel as well everyone.
Hm, let's play that by ear for now Lyrel. Good that you mention it to me though, because then I can try to accommodate it when I prep. I'll see what I can do.
Sounds good! It's not like we are anywhere near gaining access to those types of items anytime soon anyway! Hah!
Enjoy your evening, DM. I look forward to starting.
He may not have purchased the digital book here on DDB, which would explain to lack of access on the character generator. Without purchasing the PHB, accounts only have access to the Basic Ruleset which doesn't include Forest Gnome.
I’m working on a homebrew for my class to make what we are looking for. Taking a couple liberties for the added work but nothing to break the game or change that much
Alright everyone, Content Sharing is live. We all now have access to books the other members of the campaign own. Just make sure you 'Join' the campaign otherwise you will not have access.
Yes, you may choose to meet in a tavern if you wish. ;)
Otherwise, I'll trigger the first story hook and it will pick you all up as you go.
EDIT - @Agonzo516 This setting doesn't use the Forgotten Realms pantheon in general, but I like Moradin, so we'll stick with him and his sub-pantheon as the Dwarven gods.
FYI I won't always directly ask for social skill checks, but that doesn't mean they aren't happening behind the curtain. It's just faster that way than asking for a skill check, waiting for the response and then continuing the conversation. It keeps things flowing. Of course if a skill check is volunteered I will always take the player rolled value.
Saw a thread recently about using ALL skills in a passive way like Perception or Investigation. Basically, the 10-standard could be just a run-of-the-mill attempt at something while the checks are for more win-or-lose scenarios.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Characters:
Grishkar Darkmoor, Necromancer of Nerull the Despiser Kelvin Rabbitfoot, Diviner, con artist, always hunting for a good sale Bründir Halfshield, Valor Bard, three-time Sheercleft Drinking Competition Champion, Hometown hero
Yeah, I'm a big fan of behind the curtain work, but I don't like to take away all player agency. I will do what smooths gameplay and keeps things moving, because PbP suffers from those issues. Players can always openly call a skill check though.
If I feel a roll is necessary i may just provide one in a spoiler, to try to speed things along, it is up to your discretion if you would like to use one or not. something that could speed things up is adding avrae to our discord channel and setting up a seperate chatroom in our channel for dice rolls. my othe campaigns im in use it, and it speeds things up since, i may be able to just pop in quickly and get a roll if we are in combat but cant go to ddb and make a post for it.

Drita - Aasimar Hexblade Warlock Lvl 3 Tomb of Annhilation
That's not a bad idea, I'll look at setting that up. Something I've also done in other games is that a player who's initiative it is, but can't post right now will just message me their action and I'll roll it for them and post it with the outcome. If we have dice rolls available in discord too though, then they can even roll for themselves.

@Barlow Bründir would be familiar with Grothir much as he was with Dain in your little piece for the recruitment thread.
@CraigTJones & Agonzo516 Archie and Hurrig too for that matter.
