Rixton:
The crag cat catches us by surprise but Irena manages to sidestep as it pounces out of the scrub brush at me. I try to turn her around to face the cat but she is wildly terrified of the big cat and when it pounces again, I am knocked to the ground. It bites on my leg painfully as I draw my sword and dagger. The panic rising in my chest, I activate my clockwork amulet letting the world click into place. (I am assuming that at least one other opponent of the crag cat is within 5 feet of it...maybe counting the horse?)
Short sword attack: 16, damage: 6, sneak attack damage: 10
Then I slash at its face with my dagger.
Bonus action: Dagger Attack: 17 Damage: 1
I stand up and ready myself against the next attack. (Reaction will be +2 AC against a melee attack.)
I don't (yet) consider Rixton's horse an "enemy" of the crag cat. And Vigan, because he used a ranged attack, isn't within 5' of the cat. So, I'm ruling the conditions haven't been met for a sneak attack.
Vigan's axe bites into the cat's rear left leg, giving Rixton an opportunity to stand and deftly strike the beast with both shortsword and dagger. A low roar rumbles in the cat's throat as it scowls at Rixton, then Vigan, then Rixton again.
Ladrian turns, takes careful aim, and fires his crossbow at the crag cat crouched between Rixton and Vigan. His shot true, and the cat growls in a fury after being struck in the side by the bolt.
(Round 1 concluded. Andor and Carrow may take their round 2 actions)

Carrow
Lucky to be on his knees Carrow drops further rolling to avoid the large beasts lunging attack, such speed, such power in those paws. Quickly back on his feet the Ranger attacks again before the beast can turn to face him once more.

Andor
The icy cold pain recedes and Andor looks at the beast puzzled by its strange power, as the others have engaged both beasts he decides against using the Dragon's Breath spell that had served him so well previously, instead opting to load his crossbow and snap off a shot at the cat that turned his spell moments before.
The crag cat positioned between Rixton and Vigan focuses its rage on the closest foe: Rixton. From its low crouch, it springs forward with teeth bared...
Bite attack:7| Piercing damage:11
After hissing in pain from the wound created by Andor's bolt, the second crag cat turns to pounce on the sorcerer...
Claw attack:7| Slashing damage:10
(Round 2 actions for Ladrian, Rixton, and Vigan are next)

Rixton:
I leap back as the cat snaps at me, then I bring my sword and dagger up and assess the cat, looking for its weaknesses. It is favoring its right side, so I feint and try to create an opening to slash at it with my short sword (+1).
Short sword Attack: 10 Damage: 6
Bonus action: Insightful fighting (contested by the cat's deception): 20
In case I get lucky in spite of that low roll, bonus damage from sneak attack: 2

Moments later, the second crag cat succumbs to death; Ladrian's shot--a perfect one--pierces the large cat through the heart, dropping the beast instantly. Andor scans the area, looking for any further threats but neither sees nor hears anything. The sudden, violent interruption to the day ended as quickly as it began, and the five adventurers resume their trek toward Morgur's Mound.
Random event/encounters: D13 4 | D14 4
The remainder of the day passes without incident. As the gray, winter light of day begins to turn dark, the riders find themselves approaching several cairns and an enormous but strangely-shaped mound of earth. Like a crude, long-necked, wingless dragon with dragon bones jutting from the head, neck, back, and tail, Morgur's Mound shows signs of being plundered. Several dig sites attest to the mound's apparent popularity among treasure hunters.
Carrow and Ladrian, upon seeing the man-made structure before them are able to recall the significance of this place. The mound was constructed long ago by the Thunderbeast tribe of Uthgardt barbarians--a tribe that has seemingly vanished from the north. For they no longer protect this holy site where revered Thunderbeast tribal warriors have been buried.
"So we've walked straight into that one, we definitely need to stay a little sharper as we go, although that could have been a lot worse. Rixton, are you ok? That looked nasty." Andor scans the area checking that there are no other signs of life, his heightnened sense of awareness hopefully picking up any more surprises before they become as serious. "Great shot at the end there Ladrian" he adds nodding to the rogue.

Rixton:
"I'll be fine," I say, tending to my wounds with a wince. "Let's just keep moving."
At the mound, I am fascinated by every piece of what I see. I examine the excavation sites, climb onto the mound and touch the bones, and walk all the way around the structure trying to figure out its significance.
Rixton deduces that the excavation sites are relatively old. Recent snowfalls have covered them, and there is no sign of footprints or other activity in the area. Some of the dig sites reach several feet into the side of the mound; they are like small caves, in fact.

(Dang. I would have done it differently then. Ah well.)
(Edit as needed, or create an entirely new post. No problem.)
(Looking back, it wouldn't amount to anything different, so we will leave it as is.)

Deception check for crag cat: 18
Rixton's blade plunges into the cat's chest, puncturing a lung and dropping the cat lifeless to the ground.
