Carrow
The ranger slows his horse, dismounts and begins to lead it around the mound closely inspecting as he goes.
"Do not disturb the cairns Rixton friend, we may yet be watched. These are the burial sites of Uthgardt Barbarians, let's not give them another reason to attack us out here on terms that are not our own"
The ranger slowly makes his way to the highest point, checking for fresh tracks signs of recent activity. Leaving his mount behind, he casts a wary eye on the surrounding countryside, has the group been followed ?

"I agree with Vigan, now would be a good time for some rest, i will take first watch tonight, but i would like to forage and perhaps hunt for some fresh food"
Turning to the Goliath Carrow talks to him directly. "Next time the occasion arises, and before i forget to ask, i would very much like to spar with you my friend, i feel a great deal of knowledge could be imparted, your martial skills are something to behold"
Stopping as if in recollection Carrow kneels and touches the ground with an open palm, eyes shut he listens intently.
Carrow scales the sides of the thunderbeast mound, looking for tracks or any other indication that others have been in the area lately. The ranger sees a few animal tracks in the snow--rabbit, wolf, and birds--but nothing out of the ordinary. Scanning the surrounding countryside, Carrow receives the impression that all is well; there's nothing to suggest that the group has been followed.
After surveying the mound and the area nearby, Carrow turns to the arcane and uses his primeval awareness to search the area more thoroughly...
...the presence of undead creatures is undeniable. Their location and number are, however, unknown.
As Vigan looks into the excavation sites, he's convinced that nearly all of them will suffice for nighttime shelter.
The rangers eyes snap open as he snatches his hand from the ground. His hand and arm now numb with a chilling cold his body heat steaming into the air. "We should be careful here" he whispered to no one inparticular "Andor, I sense, i sense the unliving, the taint is unmistakable" he says wringing the cold from his arm.
Holding a small stone Andor casts light on it, looking around carefully, he then casts another protective enchantment on himself, covering his body in invisible armour.
"Couldn't just be a small hill, no that'd be too easy, ancient burial ground full of undead waiting, no doubt, for us to fall asleep and then pounce on us, yes that sounds about right for us..."
Andor's magical light reveals a few new minor details--a broken shovel in one excavation site, a rusty knife in another, and, lastly, the remnants of a small, long-since extinguished campfire in a third. No other interesting items or details are discovered.
The party has traveled 8 hours for the day; therefore...
For each additional hour of travel beyond 8 hours... each character must make a Constitution saving throw at the end of the hour. The DC is 10 + 1 for each hour past 8 hours. On a failed saving throw, a character suffers one level of exhaustion. ~PHB, p. 181
Still mounting his horse, looking at the excavation entrance and analyzing the terrain he believes he has come to a conclusion.
"My friends" he says after clearing his throat "We're are learning more and more about each other as we overcome the obstacles put ahead of us. While things were not always easy I feel like we're getting more comfortable with each other" he moves the horse a bit closer "As such, I trust Carrow's judgment that there are undead nearby and means possible trouble" he looks at Vigan "While it is true that is possible they leave us alone if we left them undisturbed, I think we can all agree we are ill-equipped to face that type of foe right. Only Andor has combat magic" he moves his crossbow to the moonlight "I have no doubts a crossbow or your mighty swords and glaive would still work, but they will likely be less effective against those that do not feel anything and are made of bare bones" he sighs "I know we're all tired. Hell, I could use a drink and a warm bed myself just about now. But I believe he should at least gain some distance from this place and find another shelter, even if we became exhausted" he looks at them "But in the end, I'll do as the majority decides. What say you?"
Keeping in mind that the range for Carrow's ability to sense undead extends for one full mile, the group opts to take shelter in one of the excavations for the night. The group takes turns keeping watch and absolutely nothing of interest occurs. As the sun makes its way over the horizon in the east, it seems like this might be the first day in a long time to have a bit of sunshine.

Having taken the final watch, Vigan prepares a simple breakfast as the others wake up. Noticing Ladrian awake, Vigan beckons him over for food. "Seems like 'letting sleeping dogs lie' also applies to the undead. This place is, ironically, as quiet as a tomb."
Without opening his eyes the sorcerer calls out to the goliath "Repeat after me, and that is a good thing. I can't be sure but I feel like there is a little bit of regret in your voice, my friend" Rising Andor stretches and casts a protective enchantment over himself. So, in which direction are we going to criss cross these hills until we find the dwarf today?"

Emerging from my tent, I catch Vigan and Andor's banter. "If you are seeking trouble, we can go looking for it, my big friend. That tomb is likely where the restless dead wait. We just need find the proper entrance to it and put them to rest for good. I'm certain the giants will wait."
"Well it is certainly no mine" the ranger emerges from his tent and continues past the group to check on the horses returning content, he sits for some food with the others.
"There is trouble enough in these hills without actively seeking it out. And I was serious about letting them lie, we have better things to do."
Seeing Carrow join the group, Vigan gets his attention. "You mentioned sparring yesterday. I would be glad to show you how to fight properly!" He chuckles as he swallows the last of his breakfast.

Rixton:
"I wouldn't dream of it," I say. "Andor, can you shine a light into one of these excavation sites?"
Vigan
Listening to Carrow and Ladrian tell the tale of the Mound, Vigan surveys the surrounding land with Carrow, not wishing to be ambushed again.
"If the tribe that lay claim to this area is long gone, we should use these small caves for shelter overnight..."
