Opening very quietly and looking through the partially-opened door, Vondal sees south into a larger room. The doorway is flanked on the west by a stone stair going up above and behind where the door is. To his east is a wall that is 20 feet long, but looks to be a landing above that angles down to the south to another landing directly across from him. Then, another stair descends to his floor level opposite the one immediately to this right. Looking past the stair, he can just see a pile of supplies to the southwest. He can hear water splashing, but not the heavy sound of a waterfall.
Vondal catches himself mid-sigh of relief. While motioning his fellows forward he leads the way inside for a proper looking around the room while remaining on guard. Eventually making his way towards the center of the room if no other strange guards or redbellies are about, he folds his arms at the sight before him.

Karl watches Vondal head off into the middle of the room and says "here we go again" as he moves to Z12 and carefully looks around before going any further.
... as Nars puts a hand to his head and begins looking around in distress. "What? No! No!" He crosses his arms over his chest and buries his chin in his chest. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" Mirna turns the boy toward her. "Nars? What's wrong? Who are you talking to?" Nars is shaking his head with his eyes tightly shut, saying, "No! I'm sorry!" over and over.

Vondal crosses to the center of the room and gets a good look around. He's standing in a 40-foot by 30-foot room. It has three doors: the door he entered from (north), a door to the west, and a door to the east, which is accessible by stone stairs. A large stone cistern occupies the western part of the room, whose walls are lined with kegs and barrels. From the southeast corner of the cistern snakes a rope. At the end of the rope is a satchel. The rope and satchel are wet as if they were fairly recently drawn from the water.
Zander hears in his head. "Hungry. Leave food." Nars continues to stand with his eyes closed, whimpering and saying occasionally, "I'm sorry." Nilsa asks her mother, "What's he saying?" Harbin and Alisa stand quietly, looking at Nars. Alisa looks concerned. Harbin looks like he's scrutinizing a lunatic.
"If you value your life, if you ever want to taste flesh again, I suggest you stop your hold on that boy! I can get you two bodies, three bodies, but I need you to stop that right now, and give me this one here! It's already half eaten, you barely have any use of it left!"

With a few quick but silent gestures, he conveys to keep an eye on the eastern door before motioning for karl to follow him to the western door. "It will all be well."He whispers under his breathe as he quietly opened the door to the west for a peek inside. If nothing of worry jumps out at him, he presses on inside, trusting Droop to cover him.

Vondal opens the door slowly, but a slight creak of the hinges draws four pairs of eyes. Three Redbrands and a dwarf, who Vondal can quickly see is tied up, sitting on the floor, and has been abused. He also recognizes the fellow: It's someone he's seen at the Brawling Bard. In the crazy way your mind jumps to strange things at the most inopportune times, he suddenly thinks of music when he sees the dwarf.
Adrom, you're barely hanging onto life (1 hp). You're tied up and beat up. When you look up and see a dwarf you've seen in the Brawling Bard peek through the door, you wonder if your eyes are playing a trick on you due to the many hits you've taken to the head over the past few hours.
Zander feels the mind pause, then respond, "Three hungry bodies?" Nars is still clearly upset, but he stops muttering as Nilsa surrounds him with her arms and cradles his head. She is whispering to him, but Zander can't hear what she's saying.
This is going to be weird since the party is split, but ... Combat!

More friends!"If there's time enough for it, Vondal sets Droop down as he jumps in to deliver painful jab into blue brands knee, followed by a few more cheap shots there as well to incapacitate him. Though if he lucks with the first two shots, the last kick is delivered on yellow as he springs to 12Q.
Zander asks, "What do you mean by 'hungry' bodies? None of these here are yours to take, that's for sure!" He silently signals for the others to bring up Thel from the bottom of the crevasse.

Chaff Cutter slams down onto the man's knee, a kick comes across the same knee sideways, but when Vondal attempts a third hit, the Redbrand is able to move out of the way at the last minute.
Nif moves past Karl into the room at Vondal's cheer. He aims his crossbow at the Redbrand and fires, jerking at the last minute in fear of hitting Vondal instead. The bolt soars over Vondal and over the (blue) Redbrand's shoulder.
OOC: Nif, I'm going to give blue 1/2 cover if Vondal stays directly between you and him, which is a +2 to AC.
