Vondal keeps his cool and says while the others do their thing, "I'll take your silence as agreement enough... So, let's start simple. The other dwarf already in your... bands guardianship. Does he yet still breathe? And does your company been in direct contact with a 'Black Spider'? or was spider, I'm always forgetting... *ahem*.. And has your company come into contact with a Iarno -- no, a Glasstaff recently? Answer these things, and... I assure you. You will be set free to report back to your superiors with a message from us. Simple, no?" The question hardly leaves his lips before he looks sharply to Karl with a hand raised in a halting gesture. In that moment, Vondal mouths the words 'Trust me' alongside a very serious look.

Karl steps back from the Hobgoblin muttering to Adrom "it'll be interesting to see what he"(referring to Vondal) "is cooking up now. One things for sure it ain't gunna be simple!"
Adrom tries to asses the damage to his leg while looking at Vondal trying to get some information of the prisioner.
"Better to end it as soon as possible if you ask me" he says to Karl " Can I ask you something lad? " he continues without waiting the other dwarf to respond " during the fight I saw some... ghostly figures around you when you attacked. They didn't seem dangerous to me, more like... protectors or guides. Do you have any idea what that could be?"
"Okay. Okay. Have it your way then."Vondal say as he makes to step behind the hobgoblin, only to abruptly catch him in a rear naked choke hold aimed at a knock out. Between the bindings and surprise, he hoped at least any struggling would be short-lived before the goblin eventually passes out. Before that happens however, he says into Rul's ear, "Tell higher one in charge we see in five days in Thundertree to parley for release of Gundrun. Don't be late. Or it be more than just few men lost 'fore this is over."He warns, easing the hold only after certain of success.
Finally accepting Nif's suggestion, Vondal hefts the bound and unconscious hobgoblin over his shoulder. "Brother Nif! You already check other hobgoblins for anything of use on person?" He says(or calls, if needed). Then as soon as he ahs his answers turns on Karl. Seeing the two in deep discussion over something, he decides to call them over after he has the hobgoblin well off the road and bound to a tree with his hempen rope. Afterwards, he settles a short ways to keep watch while taking a short rest. Or at least resting until the others came over to talk.
"No luck? Can't we just beat the shit out of him until he speaks? Even steel can be bent once you apply enough heat. You're a dwarf. You should know this."
At the word heat Zander's hand bursts into flame.

"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
Vondal lets out a derisive chuckle. "Aye. We also know that it takes time for a proper job. Something you humans-..." He lets the word linger in uncertainty before briskly carrying on. "-tend to forget. Beyond that, this one is a hobgoblin. One of the few creatures on this world we dwarves in past 'ave been forced to recognize for their willpower. At least where I am from. Though in recent centuries-..."Vondal seems to catch himself, and lets out a more self-depreciating sounding chuckle.
"Point is. 'less we had weeks, we are not breaking that one. He'll die before such point from any clumsy attempt on our part. Maybe if Big Sis was 'ere, but.. eh." After shuffling uncomfortably in his seat, the gold dwarf turns back onto the prisoner. "Best chance we have of getting anything out of this one is to deceive and follow him. Maybe he figure out and lead to far greater numbers -- eh, home base, if you would. Or maybe kill self once free out of shame. Either way, is win-win."

"I suspect Vondal's right but I do like your approach Zander; truly worthy of a dwarf! See I told ya we'd make a dwarf of you yet!" Karl says with a grin
"Sure lad, there were three of them. An older dwarf dressed in full plate, which is covered in scratches and gouges, and carrying a huge tower shield, a stout warrior is you ask me, other one was a dwarven female with flowing red hair dressed in mithril mail and wielding two hand axes, she looked like she could take an entire orc camp by herself, the last one was the most misterious to me, if this whole things wasn't so misterious in the first place, he was a tall figure wearing only a leather apron and covered in old burn scars and wielding a War Hammer in either hand. If you ask me they looked proud of you, specially when you took down that hobgoblin. Does any of this sound familiar to you?"
He turns to Vondal when he hers his plans for the hobgoblin.
"You are right, and probably this is the best solution we have now. If we go after him we could retake the orc's track later I guess."
OOC: Are we taking a short rest? Adrom sure needs one ;)
I rather copy paste the description of the ghosts for I didn't want to "create" confusion ;)
"Sure lad, there were three of them ... Does any of this sound familiar to you?" Androm asks Karl
“Three you say, one dressed in full plate and carrying a huge tower shield and a dwarven female with flowing red hair dressed in mithril mail and wielding two hand axes. They sound like what I remember from being a small child of my grandfather and his daughter; my mother Ruan or ‘Red’ as she was more commonly known. And the other one sound likes my memories of our clan leader, the great Shield Dwarf smith Durgeddin the Black. But why would they be proud of me, I am the son of the traitor Rhodri Eight Fingers who let the Orcs into the dwarvish stronghold of Khundrukar,” Karl responds sadly.
Adrom looks at him surprised but puts a hand in his shoulder
"That's your fathers doing, not yours lad. You fought well and helped your fellow dwarves in the fight. They were smiling at you. I guess they are looking over you."
Vondal sighs at Karl's agreement, but leaves things there. But to Frandal he nods and says, "Right. Granted. We hardly been on road long enough to make much progress there anyhow. That, and the...Banshee issue." Following a shudder, the gold dwarf starts to go back to keeping a casual eye on the unconcious hobgoblin while taking a short rest. However, he remains settled for only so long before figuring he look over the bodies (if Nif hadn't already) for salvageable armor, coin, or if they were lucky enough written orders on the Hobgoblin mission(s).
Investigation: 14(if needed, and if at adv. for someone helping: 17)
@Frandal: T'is what I was aiming for, figuring the hob would be out for at least a couple hours, and we only need the one.
@DDP: Appreciated. Was feeling kind of posting a afterwards as if it was a forgone conclusion. And to clarify, he's checking over all the hobgoblin bodies for the bold stuff, or anything else of interest on them.
(And if able to complete a short rest, here's the Dice(2): 16.)

Each of the hobgoblins is wearing chain mail and carrying a shield and a longsword. None are carrying any gold or personal items. One hobgoblin carries a crudely drawn sketch of Karl, with "25 gold pieces for this one" and a symbol of a black spider drawn beneath it.
Vondal makes sure to show the sketch on his way to a more comfortable spot. Though not without giving Karl an uncomfortable look. He says nothing however unless prompted by another.

Nif is slowly gathering his wits whilst the group interrogates the hobgoblin. He will suggest they move off the middle of the road soon though.
Zander merely watches, rubbing the spot on his back where his clothes were torn, holes having been ripped through with his wings.
