Nif and Vondal split off from the group as Daran enters to see the results of the struggle.
Nif, you climb the ladder. The trapdoor clearly hasn't been used in a long time and doesn't want to open. Roll a strength check.
Vondal, you check both the south and north rooms. The south room contains three bunks and the north, two. Aside from the furnishings, there is nothing left. It seems those who left last took the time to gather anything of value to take with them. That or someone's been here before you and cleaned out the place. It appears the five zombies made up the whole of the infestation.
Vondal regroups with the rest, dusting off his hands with a sigh. "All clear! Just a couple more houses to go, and then...." Vondal audibly gulps as he looks outside in the rough direction of a certain tower. "The Dragon... Oi oi oi..."Without another word, Vondal hustles the rest of the way out, asking of Daran if he might point out the final building with the twig creatures left, so that they might begin the final march.

Nif, the trapdoor won't budge. It probably doesn't help that you're being heckled.
Vondal, Daran follows you outside. He points due south at the building you came up behind on your way to the current structure. "If the old man is right, that's the last building with blights. Then, there's just the people in black masks and the dragon."
"That is good. And not too far away no less. With any luck, the blights will be no more tougher than the last batch we dealt with." Vondal chuckle. "Though hopefully less inclined to have at the Hammer...wait, did I make joke before?"He raises a brow to Daran. Regardless of the answer, realizing Karl and Nif were still lagging behind, he hustles at least back to the doorway to look around at things. "Ohhh, Uncle~ Sooner we get rid of those blights, and talk to those masked fellows, the sooner we can go see a Dragon~"Vondal singsongs; just barely keeping nervousness from his voice.

"Nah I'm gunna show this young'un how to open a door" Karl replies to Vondal "but give me a hand will ya!"he says to Nif as he mounts the ladder and gives the door an almighty shove {18}
“Lads, are we serious about going after that dragon? I have serious doubts about it. I don’t thing we are properly equipped to deal with the worm to be honest”
"No one is ever properly equipped for dealing with them." Vondal chimes in. "Not without devoting their entire life to hunting down such creatures. And even then, they can be a clever and powerful lot. But, if... Uncle has faith that we can deal with this one, then I trust Uncle." He looks in the rough direction of the other Dwarf. "At least that is what I'd say if he was not obsessed with some one door -- Why don't you bust it open like you did this one, Uncle?"He calls in again.

After a few seconds of consideration Adrom shrugs his shoulders.
" Perhaps that's why Moradin put me on your path lads... to put some sense into your skulls or... " he grabs his hammer with noth hands and charges toward the door trying to bash it with the hammer.

"Cos its a blithering trapdoor and I can't get a good swing at it"Karl calls over his shoulder to Vondal and Adrom in an acerbic tone. He looks at Nif "right lets give it one more go, on my count - one - two - three heave!" {19} Realising that their second effort was probably worse than their first, Karl mutters "darn door"as he climbs down the ladder. "RIghtto lets go collect some firewood!"as he heads out the door of the house towards the house with the blights.
OOC: LOL, you guys are great. The second roll was enough.
Karl climbs the ladder, and Nif awkwardly hangs onto the outside to allow the taller access. The barbarian climbs high enough to get his shoulder under the trapdoor (his head angled to the side) and shoves with both his free arm and his legs, pushing up with his hand and his shoulders. There's a groan and a crack, and the door swings flies up enough to leave Karl's shoulder. He looks up in time to catch it as it starts to fall back closed, and then he pushes it again, causing it to open all the way and fall back against the inside of the short wall that runs the outside of the flat roof. He finishes climbing up, followed by Nif, and the two stand and look. It's a flat roof. Absolutely nothing of interest up here. Looking south, you can see the eastern half of the city. Looking east and north, you're met with the tree tops of the encroaching Neverwinter Wood. The hill is to the west, and looking up, you can see a little better the tower, which you think looks to be a few stories tall. You also notice that half the roof is missing ... but that's fairly expected after having visited almost all the rest of the Thundertree structures.
Vondal keeps from saying anything when Karl and Nif finally come down from their roofscapades. He only falls in line, allowing Karl to take point on the march southward to the blights. At some point along the way Nif receives a few shoulder pats from the gold in at least affirmation of having tried his best. "We're almost done, me brothers. Just a few more weeds that removing. Some masked fellows to talk and or.... subsequently pummel depending on their reasoning, and then... a dragon." He breathes deeply in through the nose. "You know. We've been doing so well so far, I actually think we may have decent chance of defeating it."

"Well... next time we better remember that this place is in ruins and try to check the roofs before be delayed again by stubborn doors." Adrom jokes with the others.
Daran makes a face which is half skepticism and half humor as he eyes Vondal. Shaking his head, the half-elf heads south toward the building with the blights.
Nif does as Karl asks.
Adrom spent some time burning the corpses of the zombies. Just to be sure.

Whilst Karl was on the rooftop and scanning the surrounds did he spot an area where a large allegedly flying lizard might choose to reside?

The tower with the half-gone roof looks promising.
