OOC: I'm having major editor issues today. Posts don't appear to be going through, but then they appear. I can't always edit. Bear with me.
While Adrom and Vondal are eyeing the lead cultist and his produced swords, the fallen cultist gets to his feet, draws a scimitar, and swings it at (1=Adrom, 2=Vondal: 1) Adrom. (scimitar attack: 20, damage: 3 slashing damage)
The blade is hampered by the back of the cleric's chainmail and the magical protection of his ring, but it still does a small amount of damage. (3 damage this round; 19/28?)
Karl, you can't make it to within melee of the (orange) cultist with 25 feet of movement. You can get in melee with the lead cultist, however. Would you like to do that?
OOC: I was mistaken. The cultist doesn't draw two swords; it only draws one.
Karl (ironically) walks up behind the lead cultist, saying, "Sneak up on me mate will ya - I don't fink so!" and smacks the man in the middle of his back with his warhammer. (6 damage)
Appearing to only have eyes for Vondal, the cultist steps forward (Karl, you can make an opportunity attack if you'd like). The cultist moves with such speed — with no prior warning — that it completely takes the monk off guard as he is also looking out the side of his vision at the other cultist who just attack Adrom. The cultist is thrusting his sword with great speed before Vondal has proper time to prepare. (shortsword attack #1: 17, damage: 9 piercing damage — shortsword attack #2: 23, damage: 9 piercing damage) As each strike piercing his skin, Vondal feels the hot, lingering pain of poison being left behind. (CON saves DC15: 21, 22) Luckily, his dwarven constitution fights off most of the effects, but is still affected. (48 halved: 24+18=42 total damage). The monk collapses to the ground after the first strike (31 damage), and the cultist stabs him a second time while unconscious before turning toward the building and whistling loudly. (2 death save fails)
*Gulp* Vondal, make a death saving throw. Then, Adrom, you're up!
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(Here comes the sweet, sweet embrace of death... It has been fun, Vondal. But, we knew the story would end this way. Godsspeed, you Brave Dwarf Monk)
9.
With a look of utter shock on his face, Vondal takes one last look at the wound in his gut, looks slowly to Karl with wide eyes, and then as vision began to swam, fell back into utter darkness. Seconds later, he draws his last breathe...

The first attack reduces Vondal to an inch within his life, clutching a gaping and poisoned gash in his abdomen. The second happens just as quickly, and the monk's vision goes black. Everyone watches as the gold dwarf collapses to the ground. The lead cultist then turns to look at the building and whistles loudly.
OOC: This is how it should have happened. See the PM for further discussion.
Karl looks at his warhammer in disgust "bloody thing must be made of rubber - no wonder he didn't turn around well maybe this'll get his attention!" as he swings again {Attack: 14 Damage: 6} "Bah, it is made of rubber - I'd be better off with a rock and a stick!"Karl mutters
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Vondal!" screams Adrom as he sees his friend fall. "Stay away from him you filthy rat!"
He runs towards Vondal and puts himself between the cultist and the fallen monk. Raising the shield to cover him he touches one of the wounds and prays to Moradin in dwarven to help him heal the wounded monk.
( Move towards Vondal risking an attack from the cultist in front of him if I got it right, if no cultist can attack him the better ;) . Action use Cure Wounds lvl 2 on Vondal: 8 )
Karl, as the cultist moves toward Vondal, his swiftness catches you off guard as well, and your reactionary attack barely scrapes off his armor, not doing any damage.
Adrom, there isn't any reason to move; you are five feet from Vondal, and since the lead cultist moved five feet toward him, you can't interpose yourself between them.
Adrom bends down and lays a healing hand on Vondal, praying new life into his unconscious form. (Vondal: 6/24, prone)
Looking stunned and then determined, Daran petitions Chauntea to burn their foe with holy fire. (DEX save DC13: 12) The flames erupt, but the cultist dances out of harm's way.
Nif's shot is true, and the bold lands in the cultist's shoulder.
The (orange) cultist swings his scimitar at Adrom (scimitar attack: 14, damage: 7 slashing damage), but the cleric deflects the attack with his shield.
Daran watches as three more cultists dash out of the building's front door. Two head in Nif's direction, while one heads for the nature cleric. A fourth cultist must have come out of the other door Nif found, as they begin running north up the back side of the building.
"This dragon lovin' piece of detritis is really startin' ta give me the irits" Karl mutters as he enters a rage (bonus action) and dropping his shield he grasps his warhammer in two hands and swings recklessly at the lead cultist {Attack: 24 Damage: 12}. Karl looks at his warhammer in disgust and starts to swing it as if he's going to throw it away and then arrests his swing muttering " best keep it - its probably a bit better than a rock and a stick but if so it ain't by much."
(OOC in case the results never show up here is a second set {Attack: 25 Damage: 15})
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As Karl steps forward, the (pink) cultist attempts to cut him with their scimitar. (scimitar attack: 4, damage: 4 slashing damage/2=3, 27/38) The blade slices across the barbarian's back, but his rage and determination reduce the damage.
The dwarf brings his warhammer down on the lead cultist, but the attack isn't as strong as Karl had hoped. As soon as the weapon hits, however, Adrom and Daran both see the ghostly forms of three dwarves appear around the cultist. While Karl and the cultist do not see the apparitions, the barbarian suddenly feels a bit more courageous, and the latter begins looking around as if being bothered by something.
The cultist turns and swings his weapon twice at Karl, using the dwarf's reckless attack to his advantage. (shortsword attack #1: 26, damage: 12/2=4 piercing damage — shortsword attack #2: 23, damage: 9/2=4 piercing damage) As each strike piercing his skin, Karl feels the hot, lingering pain of poison being left behind. (CON saves DC15: 25, 22 — poison #1: 23/2=11, poison #2: 26/2=10) Karl's dwarven constitution keeps the poison from having its full effects, but as the reduced, but still present, poison from the second stab takes hold, the barbarian collapses unconscious.
The cultist looks around at the remaining party members and hisses, "Leave while you still can."
As Karl goes down those standing near him hear him whisper in a pain filled voice "I tried Ma and Pops but I wasn't good enough! I'm a failure like Da!"
Ignore the dying words to quote an old peasant from Monty Python "I ain't dead yet" or Mark Twain "the reports of my death are over-exaggerated" as Orileo was right (see post #226)
Nif just watches in horror as Karl collapses, something he has never seen before, even on the night after they all got fired and had a few mugs of ale. "Ye-yes. We will leave. But can I at least drag my companions away?" As a sign that he has no intention of attacking, he puts down his crossbow and draws his dagger and sword and places them on the ground also.
"Please let me move my companions and we wont bother you again."
(@All: Not sure if that necessarily changes things for you, Zipnok. Karl shouldn't be down. He made both saves, and has resistance to poison. So between poisons and stabbings he should be at 9 HP left. Ya'll keep forgetting you're dwarves. X))
Vondal stirs slowly at first, confused up until the demand. Growling, he rose up with a grunt, taking up his axe once more, and bracing himself against it as he rose to his feet and survey the situation. With a look of grim determination, he spits out blood and pheglm off the side, before giving Krom a nod of thanks.
Of Nif's impassioned plea, assuming there is still one, the Gold Dwarf failed to acknowledge it. Something about the situation had set him off far more than his usual cautiousness to play a hand in his actions."Cowardly shit fights with poisoned blade? Hah! Underestimate Dwarven Constitution, I bet. You don't live past this day."He states, glaring at the man, and unhesitatingly bringing the axe to bear and cut him down.
And if that isn't enough to hopefully finish the job, he follows up leaping into a final, skull cracking head to head headbutt. Hopefully with the Death of the Leader, he barks to the rest, "Still want to follow shit to the grave!?"
Movement: Spend 1/2 to get up.
Action: Attack Using Vonsorm. (Two-Handed, Lethal) BattleAxe - Attack: 3+19 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll. of Slashing at Cultist Leader.
Bonus Action:Rolling Thunder! (Lethal)Unarmed Strike - Attack: 2+11 Damage: 3 of bludgeoning at Cultist Leader(if alive, if not Orange)
Whoops. Rolled a d4 for the 1st damage. Here's the real Damage: 6. (11, not 12. Ugh. Stupid Fingers.)
The cultist turns and swings his weapon twice at Karl, using the dwarf's reckless attack to his advantage. (shortsword attack #1: 25, damage: 8/2=4 piercing damage — shortsword attack #2: 20, damage: 9/2=4 piercing damage) As each strike piercing his skin, Karl feels the hot, lingering pain of poison being left behind. (CON saves DC15: 15, 24 — poison #1: 23/2=11/2=5, poison #2: 20/2=10/2=5) (remaining hp: 9/38) (OOC: Playing in person around the table would solve these issues a lot more quickly.)
(The cultist does not say anything following the attack, now. And, it's not Nif's turn, so he doesn't say or do anything.)
Vondal's post ...
Vondal gets to his feet, a monkish fire burning in his dwarven eyes. He swings his axe with both hands. The cultist raises an armored arm to deflect the attack, but the might of the attack still does damage. Using the momentum of his swing, Vondal spins on one foot while kicking out with the other, aiming for the cultist's kneecap. Unfortunately, his aim is a little low, and he just glances off the man's shin, doing minimal damage. (By the way, woohoo for bless!)
Adrom, you're up! Karl is very low. Vondal is very low. The lead cultist is looking a little beat up, but not badly. You can see five other cultists in attack positions. The one behind you looks like one more hit will take him out.
