Nif just laughs at his uncles suggestion and whilst he is caught off guard by the suggestion he is not completely surprised. He walks over and ties the goblin to the shield whilst Karl holds him still. Once he is done he pauses and thinks before looking at the goblin, pokes his tongue out in a taunt like he has seen countless goblins do in the past.
With a grunt Karl hefts his shield with the wriggiling goblin now lashed to it and warhammer in hand says "that way lads"as he leads the party into the room where Taalan - whatever it might be - lurks.
Vondal just slowly facepalms and shakes his head. "You mention one thing as joke, and all of a sudden, we're now using goblin's as body shields... Marthammor forgive me." He muttered under his breath. Then following a sigh of defeat, Vondal would follow whatever procession forms again with bow and arrow in hand, ready fill a certain monster with iron when things likely inevitably go wrong.

Karl is a very literal dwarf. On another matter I'm going to use Karl and the others as NPCs in another campaign - pls send me, if you want to, Vondal, Adrom and Nif at 12th level.
OK, I'm going to say with the weight of the goblin on your shield, it reduces its bonus to +1, so your AC is now 17. Also, any hit of 13-16 against you will hit Lhupo instead.
The party pushes through the curtain on the east side of the room. Karl moves the shield around, giving anything in the room clear sight of the trussed-up goblin.
Karl - well Grant - forgot about that. Would have been a good idea but I guess that no he isn't gagged. That said it'd be a brave goblin that opened its trap too much when its strapped to a dwarf's shield.
OOC: I am happy to say that when Nif tied him to the shield, I didn't specify gag so it isnt, but Grant makes a good point. I am still getting my head around this happening hahah

As the party moves along the eastern wall toward the door in that wall, Lhupo begins speaking in the goblin tongue using soothing tones. While the party has no idea what the goblin is saying, they hope it is telling "Talaan" to leave them alone. All four party members are scanning the room for any sign of a creature matching Vondal's creative description, but Adrom is the only one that spots it hiding on a ledge high on the far wall near the ceiling. He keeps aiming his eyes on the form, and it while it moves along the ledge, matching their movement on the opposite wall, it appears to be content to stay on the ledge.
Besides his desire to watch the monster, the cleric is also interested in the room. This high, narrow hall looks as if it might have been part of a chapel or shrine at one time. Angelic figures are sculpted along the room’s upper reaches, looking down on the floor below. Between the curtained archways in the north wall is a cracked but ornately carved stone brazier.
Karl leads the group through the door, finding himself in a familiar space.
"Alright. This here is where I come through last thinking I'd catch up with you earlier." Vondal whispers, then gestures towards the curtain in the north. "Debated going there, but did not think with you all would get through there so fast. So, went south."Licking his lips nervously, the gold dwarf looks between the north curtain and eastern door before finally saying, "My advice? Try north first. But, can have listen at door in east before going around, if wish. Nif?" He looks to the dwarf with an expectant look.

Adrom, I had already rolled for you, and you didn't meet the DC to know anymore than what I described.
Karl leads the group through the north curtain into another mostly round room. This tower has almost completely collapsed, although the ground floor still has a little open space. Rotting crates and ancient barrels show that provisions were once stored here. Besides the heavy curtain the group entered through, the only other exit is an intact door to the east. To the north, a short passage through the rubble ends before a screen of canvas.
Karl swings his shield around to the front and growls “tie th sewer rat on”

Neither the goblin nor the DM saw that one coming.
Whoever is going to try to tie Lhupo to the shield, make a strength check verses his acrobatics check of 9.

"I agree let's go north" says Adrom looking at the statues trying to discern something about them or the deity they) were dedicated to.

Karl bends forward but not closer enough to get bitten and whispers in Lhupo's ear "what's behind the door and the canvas screen?"

The goblin pauses, but then answers frustratedly, "Hallway and outside."
