"Sounds to me we'll be going through that hallway." Vondal whispers. "I'm gonna take a peek outside though. Just in case." He said, and would head off to the next curtain as quietly as he could if none stop him, and part them just enough for look out without exposing too much of himself. If he sees nothing of interest beyond the curtain, he'd throw a thumbs up back at the others, before taking up the rear again once the procession reached the door.
Vondal steps up to the canvas screen. Reaching out and touching it, he begins looking for a way to get through. It's not immediately apparent. He begins searching. He hears behind him Karl curse and then the goblin reply, "Lhupo not know. No see through things." It takes a couple of minutes, but Vondal finally works out how to get through the canvas. If he hadn't known this was an exit, it would have been easy for him to decide it was just another wall. He peeks past the canvas and sees the dark forest surrounding the castle.
"Well the little pest was telling the truth... go figures... did it hurt?" he asks to the goblin but Adrom didn't wait for an asnwer and goes back to his postion.
"Adrom.."Vondal said softly with brows furrowed consternation, seeing the jab at Lhupo's expense. Perhaps too softly to be even heard? Either way, he would say no more on the subject, and instead whisper to Karl. "Onward through the door then? Its not as if we can afford not to finish checking out rest of fortification. Could be we find leader. Could yet be we find Gundren. Or.. could be we find next clue of his whereabouts. Either way, we have your back, Uncle."
(@Frandal: Missed the chance to use guidance initially, but hopefully there's a fight past the door within the next minute. Would be nice to have 3+ initiative at least with guidance. ;D)
The party finds the next area to be a triangular hall or in-between space with a door straight ahead and another curtain to the right. Lhupo begins to whine a little.
Vondal nods slowly in agreement. Then, remembering he was in the back of the bus, the gold dwarf whispered, "The one straight ahead first, Uncle. If only to secure flank."With that, he then leveled the Zindral on it, ready to shoot the first foe beyond the door, assuming he has the angle for it. Which given how much Lhupo began to whine and squirm, the odds seemed fairly good.

All the while, with Karl leading, Nif is at the back of the group, closing the doors as they pass them scanning to make sure nothing is sneaking up behind them.
"Wait, wait, wait, wait," Lhupo cries just above a whisper as the party begins moving toward the door. "Please, please, please, free Lhupo. King Grol harsh. He kill Lhupo. I not protect you. Please," he whines again, drawing the word out.
"It's always lies and deception with this little rats..."says Adrom. "We better brace ourselves. No way that stinky creature is better than any of us, but their leadres tend to be the more ruthless and brutal of all of them. "
Vondal sweatdropped, but wouldn't say anything or even give any indication he agreed with Adrom's assessment. After the whole attempt to have them walk through the curtain into the den of the goblin's pet monster, the hill dwarf only had so much empathy left for the goblin cleric. Still, as it sunk in Karl still fully intended to have the goblin play meatshield for what may be ahead, holding true to a stony expression took effort. Nevertheless, he did so, and waited still at the ready to fire once Karl opened the door.

Ignoring the goblin's pleas, Karl reaches out and finds the door unlocked. He pushes the door open.
The chamber beyond has been set up as a crude living space, with thick furs thrown on the floor to serve as carpets, old trophies hanging on the walls, a large bed, and a brazier of coals burning brightly. A round table with several chairs stands to the south near the door.
Aside from this cursory examination of the room, the first thing Karl sees is a wolf rise from a seated position to a standing position. It immediately bears its teeth and begins growling. The second thing he notices is a large, yet aged bugbear with stooped shoulders and a hunched back. What is most interesting about this bugbear is that it is holding Gundren Rockseeker in front of it with a dagger to the dwarf's throat. Gundren appears to be either unconscious or dead.
"Stay where you are," the bugbear warns. Its voice is low and gravely, and it speaks calmly like someone who is used to getting their way with little effort. "Why have you attacked my home?"
“I am only going to say this once. Release him now. Drop your weapon and surrender. You are in no position to ask for nothing. Anything you do to him I will do it to you ten times worse. Think carefully your next actions and words.”
Vondal stops just short of firing on the whole at the unseen Bugbear, having already been primed for it. Still, the bow string remains taut while the mind yet scrambled to fully process the situation. "To the nine with your predictions.." He ends up muttering to himself, But apart from that, the hill dwarf stayed quiet, not wanting to worsen or excite the situation any more than Adrom (and likely soon to be Karl) did at the moment. Not without taking the time to run through the options.

After Adrom finishes speaking Karl pipes up “I don’t reckon ya value this sewer rat's skin much so I ain’t gunna waste me breath tellin’ ya what you do to the dwarf I’m gunna do to it. What I will tell ya is that ‘e” pointing to Adrom “… is like that" holding up his fingers crossed "... with his God so once he’s finished he’ll bring ya back again and it’ll be my turn to inflict some grevious bodily ‘arm if youse don’t put the dwarf down now and gentle like!”

"May Moradin guide you lad" says Adrom patting Vondal's shoulder as he passes by to take a peek.

Karl grins at Adrom’s comment and replies “not as much as my response will be if I find the sewer rat has been lying!”
