"Hold on," Halia says, now showing a little good humor. "Which things? All four rings and how much ruby dust? Not that I expect anyone else to come in today asking after these items, but if you're going to put payment down, I intend to hold onto them for you."
The dwarves join Vondal outside, look at each other with raised eyebrows for a second, then someone suggests, "To the mine?"
Gundren rubs his palms together, smiling. "To the mine!" he repeats. He looks up and measures the location of the sun. "We should get there before sundown," he says, sounding fairly sure of his words.
You all are hiking, right? When looking at the map, you'd see it's foothills between Phandalin and the cave getting bigger and more difficult the farther you travel. The cave is right on the edge of the Sword Mountains. You could probably ride horses, but a cart would be more trouble than it's worth. The Rockseeker Brothers are used to hiking.
"That close, huh? Well, suppose that make sense given town location and all that." Vondal said after tugging at his beard a little in thought for a moment. "Though it would've been difficult, it would've be nice if we still had-..."He catches himself, eyes wide for a second, before then trying to quickly play things off with a, "A-a-anyways! Let's be off then," and marching ahead of the group at a hurried pace for at least a short while.

Fifteen miles east of Phandalin, in the deep vales of the Sword Mountains, lies Wave Echo Cave. The rich mine of the Phandelver’s Pact was lost 500 years ago during orc invasions that devastated this part of the North. In the centuries since, countless prospectors and adventurers have searched for the lost mine, but none succeeded until the Rockseeker brothers found the entrance a month ago.
As the sun approaches the western horizon, Gundren says he thinks they'll arrive at the cave before dark. "Me brothers have a small camp inside. We can sleep there. With any luck, we'll find them camped there." The party continues on, but it isn't long before Gundren begins to act like he isn't absolutely sure where the cave entrance is. "I haven't actually been to the cave that many times, and I've never gone there alone."
As the resident non-survivalist of the group, Vondal keeps an eye out for any surprise danger or visible signs of the brothers potentially moving about the area, but otherwise leaves the actual tracking to the others. "Well, let's hope our luck-..." He would start to eventually say, prior to then hearing Karl's call. Curious but patient, he waits until Gundren confirms Uncle's findings, and then pick up the pace in his following along after.

Karl notices a trail of footprints mostly hidden, but visible once it's pointed out. Gundren smiles. "This will probably lead us right to it." He gives a little shrug. "Seems like me brothers were moving in and out of the cave a lot." It isn't another 30 minutes and Gundren makes a noise of recognition. "There it is!" he says sounding relieved. The others look, but they don't see a cave. When one of them says something, Gundren replies, "Oh, you can't see the entrance until you're right on it. See that pile of rock and rubble? There by that tree that's been split down the middle," he says, pointing toward the mountain. "That's where the entrance used to be, but it's caved in. Me brothers dug a new entrance around the side. Follow me," he says, rolling up the map and starting down the small hill toward the base of the mountain.
Vondal seems initially confused for whatever reason, but wasn't gonna argue against Uncle Karl's instincts. At least not this time, anyhow, seeing as there were still a few worrying things at the back of his mind.
Adrom follows young Gundren, happy to the idea of sleeping under a good old cave, but he is wary, for he fears the worst could had happened to the young dwarf brothers. He walks behind the others but tried to keep an eye on their surroundings.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Gundren pauses when he hears Karl say something about being stealthy. He then continues, but begins taking slow and deliberate steps. (14) The way he is taking large steps with pointed toes is quite comical, but no one complains. The miner occasionally steps on a twig or sends a rock skittering, but he's making no more noise than Adrom's armor is.
Without incident, the party reaches the entrance to the cave around the side and out of sight. It is the start of a long tunnel the leads into the mountain. Gundren doesn't hesitate. He looks back to make sure the others are still following and walks in, still taking bigger-than-normal steps, but his march has lessened a little over the time. After 100 feet or so, they reach the end of the tunnel.
The entrance tunnel leads into a large cavern supported by a natural pillar of rock and containing three stalagmites. Gundren makes to enter the cave without pause. Do you let him?
Vondal nods curtly in agreement to Adrom, and then looked over to Karl and Nif. "Looks like you two are up then. We'll hang back here and keep overwatch for you. Just in case those creatures Gundren's mentioned before might've found they're way here in intervening time, yes." He said as bow is slid into hand, and arrow is partially notched in preparation. "Or if preferred, we go in together?"
(Getting this out of the way before I lose the inspiration/words for it. :P)

When asked to explain what they're looking at, Gundren lowers his voice to match the others'. He points to the left. "They usually sleep over there." Looking that direction, the party can see some things on the ground about 50 feet away that could be bedrolls and supplies. "Ahead is a cave-in that gives access to the tunnels that way and that way," he says, pointing northwest and east. The air smells like old farts. Also, there is the rhythmic roaring sound that comes from far away, and with it, the ground shutters every so slightly. Gundren explains that far back, there is a cavern where waves crash, and that's how the Wave Echo Cave got its name.

“The expensive ones” Adrom says “and all the Ruby dust. Here” he adds another 25 gp to the pot “such commitment must be properly paid.”
PbP Character: A few ;)
Halia gives a nod and taps the more-expensive rings.
What's next?
(@DDP: I think that completes all our in town business, so onward to the mine!)
