So, what are you all doing? The old knight is unconscious in the northwest cave. There are various scattered dead bodies throughout. There are crates, etc. in the southeastern cave with the blue lion on them. There's an unconscious wolf in the center. The hobgoblin escaped. You left your wagon on the side of the Triboar Trail. You're about half a day's journey from Phandalin, and it's a early afternoon.
I believe Vondal and Einar are tending to the old knight while Karl and possibly Nif are going back to further check the supplies with the blue lion mark. Not sure about the rude human.

Einar has the right of it. We'll be heading Karl and Nif's way to at the very least get a makeshift litter scrapped together for the old Knight... and the rude human his stupid signet ring. :P
On the way out, Vondal is planning to take the unconscious wolf with him though, and will be taking his chain, piton, and whatever dried meat he can from the goblin corpses along the way with him.
The young man walks over to the knight and kneels down. He places his hand upon the old man's head and closes his eyes. His hand trembles a little, and pulses with black veins. Where the young man's fingers touch the old man's head, small black veins appear and spread along his face, fading quickly. Suddenly, the old man's eyes fly open.

"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
(And here I was starting to have doubts about his character. :P)
"Yeah, I'll just leave... you... too-..."Vondal stares at the young man with wide eyes and mouth agape. But remembering Einar's last reaction to similar event, he raises a hand in a warding gesture without breaking eye contact on either young man and loosely the knight. At the sight of the old man at lest stirring from the young man's peculiar 'magic' -- if it could even be called that -- Vondal immediately starts looking him over without brushing the young man away.
"It is okay -- It's okay. It's all okay. Welcome back to the land of living, sir'rah." He says, taking care in aiding the old knight in rising at least off his back if consciousness truly returned to him.

Karl heads back to the cave where all the crates are. He begins looking in bags and opening crates (which is what I gathered from your previous post that you planned to do). The first two bags he finds are filled with some kind of animal feed. Ignoring the other "soft" bags and moving on to crates, Karl finds a crate full of standard daggers and a crate full of arrows. He then notices a pile of weapons not in a crate: Two daggers, a light crossbow, and a collection of crossbow bolts. They appear to be haphazardly thrown here behind the other stash. There is a long box with a single longsword. Two shortswords, two sickles, a mace, and a scimitar are in the next crate. A tube of sorts with a staff and two javelins is next. Opening up the next crate, Karl finds three sets of brand new leather armor, one set of studded leather armor, and a chain shirt. Two wooden shields are in the next crate. Opening up the next bag (which doesn't feel like feed from the outside), Karl finds caltrops. The next crate contains rope, clothes, a bedroll, a blanket, and some robes. The last two crates contain mostly tools, but there is also a healer's kit.
Opening all these crates would take a while, so he'll be doing this while the rest of this post — and more — takes place. If Nif wants to help, he can say he joins Karl.
As Zander uses healing hands on the old knight, he awakens with a start. He gasps and looks around wildly. When he sees Zander, he calms a little. "You," he says hoarsely, recognizing the pale human. He looks around again, his breathing slowing. "Where?" He spots some of the dead goblins and looks at Vondal. "You've rescued us," he says. He sits up and puts a hand to his head.
"It is okay -- It's okay. It's all okay. Welcome back to the land of living, sir'rah," Vondal says, taking care in aiding the old knight in rising to a sitting position.
The old knight looks at Vondal again. "Where did you all come from? How did you find us?"
As Karl opens each crate he does so one at a time and makes sure everything is repackaged in the crates as he found them before moving onto the next one. As he finds the weapons and shields he thinks to himself “these could solve some of Einar’s and my problems.” Despite the usefulness of the weapons, shields and armour, Karl simply repacks everything as he finds it.
Einar is indeed wary of the young human's magic, but it was a surprisingly helpful bit of magic at this point, so he simply keeps a bit of difference between himself and the human. At the old knight's questioning, he offers,
"We were ambushed on the road down to Phandalin by a group of goblins, and after ending them we recognized signs that others had only recently been attacked and dragged off. We thought they might have gotten a friend who was on his way to Phandalin a day ahead of us, so we gave chase and followed their trail to this cave."
He pauses for a few seconds, then asks of both humans,
"Have either of you seen any other prisoners, or signs of such while you've been here?"

The old knight nods as Einar speaks. "Aye, it was most likely Gundren and I who you saw had been dragged off. It only happened ..." he looks at Zander. "Half a day ago, maybe?" He looks back at Einar and Vondal. "It's been hard for me to keep track in the dark and with the interrogations." He places a hand to his head again. "I'm sorry. I'm Sildar Hallwinter. Gundren asked me to escort him from Neverwinter to Phandalin. I was already planning a trip there to check on a fellow member of the Lords’ Alliance who went missing after traveling to Phandalin himself. You must be the dwarven crew he said he contracted to bring the wagon of supplies behind us." He gives a weak smile. "He didn't mention he had hired such heroes." His smile fades. "As for our employer, he was taken somewhere else. I heard the goblins mention something about a 'Black Spider', and that he wanted Gundren brought to him. Gundren had a map showing the location of some location called the 'Wave Echo Cave', but the goblins took it when they captured us. I believe that Klarg sent the map and Gundren to the chief of the Cragmaws at Cragmaw Castle. And before you ask, no, I don’t know where that might be, but someone in Phandalin might." He frowns. "Do any of you have any water?"
Einar's face tightens and his hands clench into fists at the confirmation that Gundren was indeed attacked on the road by these goblins. He starts to fidget a bit as his temper starts to rise, but snaps out of it at Sildar's request for water. He hands over his water skin to the old knight.
"As much as I hate to say it, we are in no fit shape to give chase further anyways. We've already lost one of our number to that brute Klarg and as you can see, the rest of us are all pretty banged up as well. You say the Goblins took him to this Cragmaw Castle? You think they will keep him alive?"

Sildar drinks greedily from the waterskin and then wipes his mouth with the back of his hand. "Yeemik was pretty anxious to get information out of me about the Wave Echo Cave. I think he was trying to outshine Klarg and take control." He pauses, his eyes widen, and then he looks down the tunnel to the northeast. "Klarg!" he says in a hushed shout. "There's a bugbear in here as well. He's the leader, and —"
Vondal and Einar calm the old knight, explaining that they have cleared out the cave, fought the bugbear, and sent him fleeing for his life.
Sildar looks relieved and continues. "Unfortunately — or fortunately — I didn't know anything to tell Yeemik. Gundren was pretty tight lipped about the cave's location, though almost giddy in his reluctance to tell me anything. Whoever this Black Spider is, they want the cave for themselves, I assume. How they knew Gundren was involved, I can only imagine. I hope they'll need Gundren alive until they can at least find the cave. After that ... who knows? If Klarg hadn't escaped, I'd say we would probably have a little time, but if he tells them you might be trouble, they might hurry their efforts." He looks at Vondal, Einar and Zander. "The sooner we can get to Phandalin, the better. I can pay you a small reward for helping me get there. The goblins took my gold, but I should be able to secure a loan in town." His anxiety and excitement seems to have taken a toll on the white-haired knight. His face contorts in pain, and he wraps an arm around his midsection.

Do we believe it would be even possible to load up the wagon further with the loot DM? Because it wouldn't be such a bad idea to sell off--*ahem*-- return the goods at a price in Phandalin.
Also, that would probably be Vondal. Been sitting on 6/12 HP for a while now. X)
Having committed himself to looking over the aged Knight, Vondal didn't interrupt as Einar spoke for the group. Though of hearing of Gundren's name, he freezes in place, and listens closely, burrows ever furrowing at each point made. So wrapped up is he in his own thoughts that he only notices the touch after the aches and pain from the wounds in his abdominal region began to ease. He gives the young man a thankful, yet confused look. "They won't have a choice." Vondal spoke up at last, squeezing his eyes shut at the admission. He stands up straighter after and regards Einar with a weary look.
"This goes beyond just simple snatch and grab. You remember what he said -- about having potential other job for us when we got to Phandalin? I-.... I might be skipping one too many turns in the shaft here, but its starting to feel as if it is something big at that... Though regardless of what it is, we do need to recover back in Phandalin 'fore we worry about all that. Gundren is a tough customer. Not to take the situation lightly, but-... At the very least, it'll be weeks, if not months... There will be time enough to save him. I just hoped noone else got wrapped up in this mess."
Einar gets a worried look as Sildar grimaces in pain.
"Not sure you're in good shape to be moving at this point."
He looks back and forth between Vondal and the knight, speaking mostly to Vondal.
"If we can get him to the wagon and it is yet unharmed, we may be able to make it to town just after nightfall. Otherwise, I would suggest we hole up here and rest, then head out in the mornin'."
Einar motions with his head in the direction Karl left.
"Anything beyond what we can carry ourselves of those supplies will have to wait. We can come back in a day or two to retrieve it if need be."
