OOC: I edited the previous post about XP, but the edited version isn't showing up. When I click edit, my edits are there, but not when I post. So, I'm creating a new post. I've decided to go ahead and include Nif in the split, so everyone gets 125 instead of just the three getting 133. It's not because of Zipnok's post. I had made the decision before he posted. Distribution of XP is tricky. I'm generally a healer in MMORPGs, and it bugs me that my characters have a harder time leveling up because fighters get all the XP. I realize Nif didn't take part in the Redbrand encounter, but he is part of the group. He wasn't malicious in his decision to be separate. That's why I changed my mind after the initial post.
OOC: For what it is worth I feel more comfortable if XP is shared - we all contributed in some way. To reflect greater effort/involvement is why I've gone for the additional RP XP in Kings.
(@Zip I mean, your not completely wrong about the money thing. >.> I hadn't forgotten OOC. Mostly. Just... had to prioritize a little. >.>) (@Grant I'm certainly not gonna complain, even though Nif didn't do anything this time. :P For good reasons. Mostly. But still!)
Vondal goes from grinning to furrowing his brow in deep thought. "I might 'ave one or two left in my kit. Not much tho'." He fishes out the sadly one left from his healer's Kit, and passes it up to Karl. "Of course we don't 'ave to fight it, uncle. Though if I must confess, out of the three of us, Zander there will be the most likely to charm her in the way we wish."Vondal looks over to Zander. "Once he's conscious, of course."

Karl looks at Zander with a grin and says "and what, miss out on one of the great joys of life. All you need is practice" he finishes with as he flicks Zander an ale skin "hair of the wolf as they say. Alternatively you can have some of Vondal's wonder drug."
Vondal grunts and huffs. "Maybe if things get bad enough. But not now. You'll just 'ave walk it of for a time or settle for that wolf hair, eh?" He hops up to slap Zander on the shoulder, and then lets out a hearty chuckle. "Try not to set anyone /else/ on fire, by the way. We still 'ave to get that settled up... Eventually. For now, my friend, we are seeing to a manner of other business. And if you stick with us for a time more, you'll of course reap the benefits alongside of us now that certain Brothers are no longer with us."He says solemnly. "Speaking of which, I hope Gundrun's partner, or, uhm--whatever they be is willing to provide a room of some sort to keep Brom there till we can make the journey back to Neverwinter. Not exactly relishing the thought of carrying him around, Brother or no Brother."

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Realizing that I held back from paying the group until after a smithy, doing so now. (Post #708)
Just before they enter Barthen's Provisions (Back where we started...), Nif turns to Vondal and says in dwarish, "I have divided the coins I found into four divisions. As I don't know where Einar has gone, I will give you two of the shares partly because you often pick up the tab from the bar," Nif gives Karl one of his looks as he says that, "But also as you are a much better at seeing the good in others than I. So if you want to give one of those shares to Zander, feel free to." And after a clumsy attempt to make the small bags 'Appear' in his hand, Nif hands two small bags to Vondal, calls out to Karl and then tosses one at him.
OOC: I'll let you all respond to Vondal as part of your responses to this ...
Karl, Vondal, Nif and Zander drive the ox cart north to Barthen's Provisions. Nif and Vondal enter the front of the building while Karl remains outside with Zander, who's still cradling his head. Entering, Nif and Vondal see a good-sized trading post stocked with most ordinary goods and supplies, including backpacks, bedrolls, rope, and rations. Though, there are more empty places on the shelves than they'd expect. It looks like Barthen's been needing this delivery for a while. A plump human with huge mutton chops and a bald chin stands behind a counter at the back of the room. As the dwarves enter, he brightens, stepping around to stand in front of the counter. "Hello," he calls. "Welcome to Barthen's. What can I do for ye today?"
Vondal expression hardens at the mention of Einar, but said nothing immediately on the subject to interrupt. A few moments and some incidental buttering up by Nif later, the tension eases from the gold dwarf's form. "He's gone to work with another friend in Neverwinter Woods. A logging operation, or something. Said it was a better 'business' opportunity. Reminds me own folks back in the Deep."The last part he mutters with no little agitation behind his voice. After taking another calming breathe, he puts away the pouches.
"Far as I am concerned... Zander can have part of his shares once sobered up." He gives Zander a slide long look, then shakes his head. "The rest I set aside for when we next meet 'ol Einar. But /only/ for the frog and delivery. Everything else he's already pissed away with his nonsense."He said with an air of finality followed by look at the others to see if any would challenge him on the point.
Later on...
A much more even-tempered Vondal strides right up to the counter. He starts and stops short of vocalizing an answer, thinking better of it. "*ahem*... Hello, I presume you are a Mister Barthen?" he pauses for an answer. "We are here to drop of delivery of goods by one Gundrun, and pick up payment. As well as to see about few other things. Restocking our own, being on of them. As well as seeing renting the cart after it is unloaded, if at all possible. Also-..."he looks to Nif and steps aside to let the Duergar speak up on the lion chest and thensome.

"Elmar Barthen," the human responds, identifying himself. "Glad you're here. We've been expecting you. If you'll drive the cart around to the back, the boys'll get it unloaded. If you're needing the cart, that's up to Gundren. Is he with you?"
I may have interpreted post #811 incorrectly but my understanding is the place we need to drop of the lion-crested goods is different to Barthen's?
Nif turns to Karl, "Hey Uncle, could you please take the cart around the back." He pauses for a moment, then looks at Zander, "Zander, you better follow Uncle, the fresh air will do you some good."
At the mention of Gundren, Nif frowns. "Unfortunately Gundren may have come across some trouble. Vondal here may know more about what happened. Our priority has been to deliver these goods."
OOC: The wagon is carrying two loads: the load you left Neverwinter with and the load you brought back from the cave.
OOC2: I went back to find where Sildar explained about Gundren, but it looks like maybe Karl and Nif weren't with Einar and Vondal when Sildar told them. Take a look at #572.
OOC: Whether Nif was with the group or not, when Sildar explained the situation with Gundren, I double checked the date of the posts and that it was when I was offline for exams. So i must have missed that piece of information when I caught up. I will edit my post now (#878) before anyone responds to it.
Speaking the name was one thing. But at the question, Vondal grimaces and lowered his gaze in answer while Nif stepped up. "Brother Nif has the right of it, for most part. To be more frank, as we understand it, he has been taken by goblinoids on road here, then moved elsewhere under orders of someone or... thing going by 'Black Spider'."He admits as much. "I do not suppose you have heard any rumors of such? Maybe someone come by to inquire about Gundrun's business here?" He asks, sounding almost hopefully. "Or even know of a Cragmaw Castle?"
(@All I totally forgot Sildar gave us the info about the location. Thank you past me for your piss poor notetaking)

Gundren blinks at Vondal as he relays Gundren's fate. As the monk finishes, the human shakes his head. "If Gundren's been taken, somebody's got to go find him," he says. He looks down, still shaking his head. "Gundren's a friend. I was excited by talk of discovering the lost mine of the Phandelver’s Pact in the nearby hills." He looks up at the dwarf. "Nundro and Tharden need to hear this. We've been expecting them any day now. They've been camped somewhere outside town, and I haven’t seen them in a tenday. Other than Nundro and Tharden, I haven't spoken with anyone about Gundren. Well, except with you today. And, no, I don't know of any Cragmaw Castle. Maybe Halia has heard of it. She's ... pretty knowledgeable about this area."
Karl pulls the cart around to the back of the building. Two younger human males are there. One of them — Karl remembers this one from his earlier visit to Barthen's — is sitting on a barrel and smoking a pipe. The other is carrying sacks through a back door. As the cart pulls around, the one sitting stands, puts his pipe on the barrel, and walks toward the wagon, rubbing a hand down an ox's side. "You making a delivery?" he asks, eyeing the wagon's load. When Karl answers in the affirmative, the young man hollers over his shoulder, "Thistle, hurry up!" The talker moves around to the back of the wagon and starts assessing the load. "Some of this is for the Lionshield Coster," he says, as the other young man joins him. "Just unload what isn't marked." The two begin to unload, working efficiently.

(Well someone has to ensure the group has gold, or Karl - and Zander if Karl keeps encouraging him - would drink it all away.)

(Thanks DDP, I should just say that I wasn't complaining on your decision, it was more just an opportunity to have a dig at my Dad haha)
Zander blinks awake, then clutches both hands to his head and moans.
"Oohh, I'll never touch alchohol again, I swear! My damn head!"
"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
