Karl turns to Carp and says "listen to your mother kiddo, she really does know best!"Anybody who is watching sees Karl straighten his shoulders as if reminiscing about something.
As the boy stops and says they have to be quiet due to bandits, Nif pulls out his short sword and dagger. "Dont worry young un, but it doesn't hurt to be cautious."
Once the boy and his ma leave them, Nif turns the group and starts to speak in dwarvish, "So I will scout...", he looks at Zander, and starts again in common. "Sorry, old habits. I will scout 30ft ahead of the group. Keeping an eye out for any signs of the redbrands." With that he leads the way, weapons in hand, keeping to the shadows where he can. When he gets to the chamber (J16), he will look back and motion to the left as he investigates the first corridor (Starts: G14).
Vondal had simply bowed his head in thanks after all was said and done. For the more he had watched the mother and son interacted, the more he couldn't help but look upon them wistfully. He all but happily snuck his way inside to push off his troubles, longbow in hand, and eyes alert for any dangers. "Alright. I'll keep an eye on the right of the bridge. Be careful, brother."
Though still untried, Vondal makes Ready to fire his longbow from (J16) at the first signs of any redbrand showing up, and taking note of their presence.

Nif:
Nif enters the cavern, turns to motion to the others that he is heading to the left, and heads toward the first corridor. As he gets close to the corridor, he hears a voice in his head: "Mmmm ... an orphan, you are. Hungry. Like I is. Poor us," it cries. "All alone. Hungry."
u(I am assuming the white rectangles on the wall are doors?)
Nif stops in surprise looking around, to see if he can see the source of the sound. When he can't see anyone/thing, confirming the voice must be in his head, he steels his mind and keeps going. He sneaks up to the door at 14C. If there are any bars he can peak through he will do so, if not he will put his ear to the door and listen for any sounds.
Nif places his ear to the door, but his mind is still mulling over the strangeness of what just happened, and he's having a hard time really listening whether there's anything going on on the other side of the door.
OOC2: Vondal is keeping watch, ready to attack anything that appears on the east side of the southern bridge. What are Karl and Zander doing?
Once Nif moves out of sight down the corridor, Karl moves (Stealth roll 17) as quietly as possible up to H14 where he can keep an eye on the corridor that Nif has gone down as well as the bridge.
OOC: So Zander does! I forgot he's an aasimar since we keep referring to him as a human. And I figured you were lurking. :) It's OK to take a back seat and let others do the driving if it fits with your character.

Karl:
As Karl moves west to keep an eye on Nif, he suddenly hears a voice inside his head: "Like father, like son. Hungry. How long before you turn on your friends? Hungry. How long before you stab them all in the back? Hungry."
Nif will sneak back to the group, telling him he has found a few doors. "I couldn't determine what was behind the doors from a quick listen. Do we want to go open and investigate one?"
"Eh. Worth checking out, at the very least. Might even be lucky, and it is holding cell." Despite Vondal's words, the dwarf looked anything but /that/ hopefully. But he swapped out his longbow for Chaff Cutter, and tries sneaking along behind Nif and Karl.
Maybe it was the stress of the moment, or the mornings breakfast. No matter the cause however, Vondal can't hold in the biggest fart of his young dwarven life. Which sadly Zander might just be in the path of said gaseous attack.
(Added for flavor if that stealth roll was necessary..)
Zander's eyes water and he clutches his nose after being blasted by the nastiest smell in all the forgotten realms, straight up his nostrils. He spends a whole minute just chocking and gagging on the fumes.
(Vondal casts stinking cloud! It's super effective! Zander fainted...)

"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
Hearing Zander gag fainly behind him, Vondal looks back sheepishly, and then motions for Zander to move ahead of him. "I'll, uh... watch the rear?"He offers, and if accepted, he keeps a chaff cutter ready to throw.

((Z's got darkvision.))
((Also yes I'm still here, I just didn't find a spot to jump in recently, and my IRL is also being annoying.))
Zander is walking slowly forward, letting some flames dance accross his fingers.

So ... nothing happened following Vondal's backfire. What do you do now that you're back at the door?
Nif will test if the door is locked
If it is, he will push it open and look inside
If not, he will put away his shortsword and get out his thieves tools and pick the lock before pushing the door open.
Lockpick: 13
