The goblins retreat without issue.

Sildar speaks, "Thanks for the assist, I'm pretty sure they were planning to eat me."

Kelsier moves quickly to the side of the human. “It truely is good to see you alive, Sildar. You will be vital to civilizing Phandalin, and it would have been unfortunate if those savages had left you... indisposed. However, as good as it is to see you, please, tell me, where is the other? Gundren, was it? What happened to him?” Kelsier shifts his weight from foot to foot as his knifes slide in and out of their sheathes. He anxiously to hear the answer. 

"They took him away.  Klarg, the bugbear who lead this goblin band, had orders to waylay Gundren. Sildar heard from the goblins that the Black Spider sent word that the dwarf was to be brought to him."

Kelsier looks up sharply. “The Black Spider? Who exactly is that?”

"I don't know.  The goblins semed impressed by the name, but weren't forthcoming in explaining things to me,"

Kelsier seems to think for a minute, then comes to a decision. “I suppose we’ll just have to go ask them then.” He strings his bow and then moves to go towards the mouth of the cave. “Someone stay here and tend to Sildar. I’ll be back after I ask my questions.”

Hexody leaves Folari with Sildar and joins Kelsier in tracking the goblins.

The goblins haven't gotten very far, you come across them near the mouth of the cave, leading two wolves out of the kennel there.  "What you want now?  I said we leave!"

”Relax, little greeen fellow. We want no violence with you. We only want to know who this Black Spider is. The one that paid your people to take our friends? Do you know where we would find him?”

"Black Spider is just a name in a message from great King Grol to Klarg.  They pay Cragmaw clan to capture dwarf.  Klarg send dwarf to King Grol in Cragmaw castle."

“Where is this Cragmaw Castle? Would you be willing to direct us to it for a bit of gold?”

Hexody frowns at the goblins' answer. "You were contracted to kidnap the dwarf? Why? What do they want with a merchant dwarf?"

Persuasion: 25

 "I won't lead you there but it's 20 miles northeast of here in Neverwinter wood.  Lots of trails, many goblins, not hard to find."

"We don't ask why, that for King Grol to know.  We just follow orders."

Hexody looks at Kelsier. "Let's get Sildar and Folari and get going, then."

Kelsier nods curtly and then moves towards the caves. He stops, then comes back. “One last thing. It would behoove you to heed the warning I am about to give. Phandalin is about to come under new rulership, and the coming regime will be less tolerant of highway thieves such as yourselfs. If I were you, I would avoid any more illegal activities around this area. Understand?” Without waiting for a reply, he spins on his heels and re-enters the cave complex, returning to Sildar.

"Phandalin? Say hi to the Redbrands!" says the goblin as you depart.

You return to the cave with Sildar.  "As I was just telling Folari, here, I think with this place cleaned out, we should make for Phandalin as soon as possible.  I'll be heading that direction in any rate.  If you escort me, I'll reward you with 50 gold when we get there and I can secure some funds."

Hexody purses her lips. "What of Gundren? We would leave him to his fate?"

“We will definitely be paying the Cragmaw a visit, but Sildar is wounded, and it may help to see what the situation is in Phandalin. After I have officially received a position in the government of Phandalin, then I will have bargaining power to free Gundren. I also don’t like hearing about these Redbrands...”
