Cloudfur writes up his note, and as he speaks Melannor's name you watch the piece of paper fold itself up into the shape of a bird and fly up into the air, heading south.
You knock on the door several times but there is ultimately no response.
"The carpenter elf does not seem to be the type to harbor criminals, perhaps the one we are searching for mearly passed this way...." and Cloudfur will start to look around to see if he can spot any tracks or sewer muck like the gnome had.
[Perception: 23]
OOC - I figure we're waiting for Jack to catch up with us and hopefully inform us about the automaton that was spotted....
Turning to Cloudfur Gargan gives his agreement: "No, he did not seem the sort at all. But as you say we only know that the one we seek came towards the place, not necessarily into it. Perhaps some of the other residents nearby might have seen some of the commotion."
With that Gargan moves to one of the residential buildings that sit opposite the Bent Nail and proceeds to knock on the door.
Cloudfur: You take a close look at the surrounding area. the sun is out and is starting to melt the snow on the road leaving it wet, but you do manage to pick up a handful of small foot prints heading back towards the crime scene. Following them back you see them bend around to the right into the cul-de-sac, where you notice and entrance to the sewer in the ground. The entrance is closed, and you do not find any tracks coming back this way.
Gargan: You knock on the door of the house across the street - a fairly well kept and decently large two story row house. After a few seconds the door is opened by an older human male with gray hair. He is reasonably well dressed and maintains a fairly straight look about him. "Can I help you, sir?"
As the well dressed man opens the door Gargan gives him a quick polite bow before greeting the fellow: "Greetings good sir, my apologies for disturbing you this morn. If you are not already aware there was an attack in the neighbourhood today and several people lost their lives. Myself and my companions here have already spoken with the city watch investigators who asked that we might pass on any additional information about the attack to themselves. We have reason to believe that one of the parties involved came this way after the explosion occurred and so I wondered given the location of your residence if you might have seen anyone come this way in any particular hurry at all? Any assistance you might be able to lend us would be greatly appreciated."
The man frowns a little: "I've already spoken to the Watch officers and told them we didn't see anything. I appreciate your diligence sir but you should let them do their thing. Trust in the Watch. Good day". He politely but firmly closes the door.
Cloudfur: With that perception roll I'll add that you also catch sight of another set of a few very faint foot steps in the quickly melting layer of frost on the ground. Whereas the set coming from the sewer carried some of the refuse from it, these are merely imprints. There are only traces of a few remaining but if you connect them they look to come from the direction of Trollskull, past the bent nail and then north back towards the main road. The frost on the main road has already dissolved in the morning sun so unfortunately it dies off there.
Also Jack would have caught up with the rest of the group by now.
The tabaxi will point out the tracks to Gargan, Kanus and Jack
"It does appear that someone came from Trollskull alley towards the Bent Nail, but continued on to the main road past it....there the tracks disappear"
The half-elf(???) will look back and forth between the tracks and Cloudfur, then facepalm. "I knew forgot something earlier. I saw that earlier. Think I was about to say, but then the guards showed up and well-..."She shrugs helplessly. "Oh! Before I forget this too, uhm… I found something out. Could be a long shot, but that nice V-Vincent fella had a... uh... Client! Yeah, client that saw a puppet man hurl something that blew up the halfling and snake men."She explains, if albeit distractedly at points. "Oh, and uhm… Its a little of stretch, but V-Vincent mention something about followers of Gond maybe knowing more. They use things sorta like the one his client described call Nimblewrights in their parade. Don't s'pose any of ya got a friend in that order?"

Nodding politely to the fellow Gargan turns back to the others as Jack reappears. Wandering over to join the others and listening with interest to Cloudfur's findings and then Jack's revelations about the so called puppet man.
"Intriguing indeed. I can only presume that the so called puppet man is a construct of some form, a coincidence after our previous run in's with scarecrows perhaps? Regardless I'm not acquainted with the priests of Gond at all though I do have connections to a cleric of Waukeen by the name of Obaya Uday, perhaps she would have some insight into the followers of Gond for us before we confront them directly?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OOC: As a Paladin of Waukeen would I know this Obaya Uday? Or would I myself have any knowledge on the Followers of Gond? (Religion Check in case it's needed: 10)
(OOH - interesting dilemma - how does a druid feel about mechanical things - I know I must preserve the balance - so that should also mean accepting them as long as there is nature to offset them....)
Cloudfur
The tabaxi makes a weird face at the mention of Gond "the mechanical creations of Gond are an aberration of the natural order of things...of course they must be guilty. Let us find this temple then!"
and he will head off towards the main road (pretty sure he has no clue where the temple is - he's just heading off towards the main road)
Confused, the half-elf cants her head, and then quickly brushed off the strange train of thought. "Whi-While I'm not sure I'd g-go quite as far as call'im bad names like that, uh... Sure. Let's meet this f-friend of yours, Mr. G."She smiles tentatively. Once the group were underway again and well out of the area of the incident, Jack finds an empty and decently obscured alleyway along the way to change back to 'normal' Jack as well as into different set of spare clothing from her pack.
She also sets free on a whisper of Mirt a paperbird.
The note is written in Harper Cipher, and contains a general update on finding a possible lead on the stone, and rough details on the incident that led to it. She also puts in a formal request of whatever aid can provided from any member with ties to Gond or his acolytes within the city.
(@Argent: Depends on the druid/druid circle I say. Vast majority default as Cloudfur has chosen to do so, others are simply leery or ambivalent(so long construct remains in city), some outright try to destroy them on sight, and others try to reason based on a construct's sentience how they might fit into progressing natural order of things.)

Kanus: You know where the temple is and are vaguely aware that they make use of Nimblewrights to help with research and tasks, but they do not create them.
Cloudfur: I'd say it's up to you how you want to react :)
Jack: You complete your note and release it into the air, watching it fly west towards the Sea Ward.
Smiling at Cloudfurs reaction to the revelation Gargan looks to the others and says: “Shall we just go to the temple directly then? I don’t really know if there’s any use going elsewhere if I’m perfectly honest. Direct seems a sensible choice at present.”
Jack watches it fly off only long enough until Gargan calls back her attention. "Uhhhh, sure! I, guess?" She sheepishly grins and shrugs. "I mean I'm more than willing to go right there if one of ya know the way. Though if there big on making mechanical things and such, might wanna be a liiittle tactful 'bout what we say. I don't... I would... I only got spare clothes to play with, and rather not wind up 'aving to come back in there later jus' 'cause we got thrown out the first time." She smiles cheekily at the end, but otherwise seemed ready to follow whoever knew the way.

As the group travels together Gargan edges over to Cloudfur with an amused smile at his questions to those they encounter. Choosing a quiet moment he starts by making casual small talk with the Tabaxi before he less than subtly enquires about the gemstones that he acquired. "So my friend, not a fan of the constructs I see? Can't say I'm too fond myself after our recent encounters, makes one a tad wary of their motivations doesn't it? Oh by the way I couldn't help but notice that you found a handful of particularly valuable looking gemstones. There doesn't happen to be a diamond amongst them does there? I only ask as I've been looking to acquire one myself as a component for one of my spells, a very adaptable elemental enchantment that I hope will prove most useful in our next encounter to be more precise."
(Looking for a diamond worth at least 50gp for my Chromatic Orb :P )
(Guess that's up to Tanzier if there is one in the pouch? and I guess also DM's call on actually tracking spell components?)
"The constructs of Gond give me human bumps, they are not part of the natural order, balance must be maintained." he will then pull the pouch of gems out and give the whole thing to Gargan "these are for the manor costs...."

When the Tabaxi gets to the main road he will just start asking passerby's where the Temple of Gond is
"Excuse me, do you know the way to the Temple of Gond?"
He will repeat this in draconic and gnomish as well to anyone walking past.

Considering Kanus is associated with the temple I think it reasonable he would know where it is (as would most people really).
