The symbol of the cloud and three lightning bolts is something that you recently learned about on your travels to Issrisyl. It represents Valkur, Captain of the Waves. He's the patron of sailors, favorable winds, and naval combat. (Valkur would be a demigod)

Twig stared at the flashing light, transfixed and utterly fascinated. Realizing her stupor, she snapped to attention. She then waited a few moments for one of her companions to speak up. When neither did, she took a step forward and, nodding at the large warrior, said “I am Twig. We were sent here by Lord Arbane Dorsalor to determine why he could not scry this part of the city.” Pointing to the flashing orb and the man wielding it, she continued “It would appear we now have an idea why.” Looking to her companions for approval, “We’d love to learn more about what that is,” staring again at the violet orb, forgetting to speak for a moment “...and why an undead horde is here? But first, perhaps we might be of use. There are only the three of us, but we will do all we can. After all, I think we are in this together, regardless of what you or we may wish.”
"Well, long story short, this is all his fault," the big man said, gesturing to the dirty one, "The undead, not the blight. He was trying to get create a cure for the blight and sent out undead to gather the ingredients. Problem is, he made too many undead and now he can't control them all so he's stuck here fending them off with me protecting his hide." Watching them intensely for any sign of hostility, he added, "And the only reason I'm here is because I was sent by the church to cure the Blight and I need to keep him accountable for his crimes with the undead."
The dirty man lifted his chin and sniffed disdainfully, still not looking away from the sphere in front of him, "I will not dignify that with a response." After a moment, you hear the necromancer speak again. "Fine. Guard the doors. I still have about an hour left before I can finish the ritual. When I do, I'll need to drop the barrier for a moment before it can complete. You four will have to keep them from killing me until I can finish or we're all dead." His voice didn't hold any threat or malice, it was as if he were talking about the weather or whether or not to include carrots in the stew. There was a tiredness to his voice, however. He seemed like he was about ready to drop at any moment from exhaustion.
Twig looked at her companions, “Stayingtohelpseemsourbestchanceforsurvival. Andinformation,” the Tabaxi added quietly, glancing with curiosity over to the necromancer and his work.
“Anyobjections?” she asks her companions while readying herself to defend the door.
"I agree Twig, seems we don't have a choice in the matter until the undead situation is taken care of." Garth said, turning around to eye the stairs.
"If we need to survive a horde of undead while our new friend fiddles with his glowing rock, I'd say the first order of business is making sure we don't die when the barrier goes down." His voice began to take on an authoritative tone. "I don't think we'll have much luck building a barricade over the entrance that we came in through, so I'd say that the next best option is destroying the bottom 5 or 6 steps leading from the second to the third floor. The undead won't be able to rush up the steps, and will instead fall through to the first floor. Is there any other way that the undead could reach us up here?" He turned back to face the room and glanced around.
Garth looks around the room to see any other way out. There is an exterior staircase leading to one of the windows, but it is broken at the bottom. Other than those two sets of stairs, there is no way to get to the third floor.

Twig smiled, impressed with Garth’s ingenuity. What an excellent idea. Twig began to look around herself, trying to see what other opportunities they might have to outsmart the undead horde.
You see a table, a glowy glowy orb thing, and four hairless men. Well, not hairless, just not as hairy as she was used to. Other than that, she couldn't come up with anything else to add to Garth's defensive plan.

"I like the idea of breaking the steps as well. I wonder if we could use the table as an extra barricade for the door? What do you think men?" Cor says without taking his eye off of the orb.
I really want to know what this man is doing? He seems to be some sort of wizard. Maybe he could help me learn more of the arcane arts. Cor thinks to himself. He then takes his knowledge of the arcane arts and sees if he can recognize anything special about the orb or the wizards spell he is casting.
You have never seen or heard of anything that fits its description. You know that it must be magical. It might be powering a spell or it might be a focal point of a spell or something else, but you can't say anything for certain.

Twig looks to the big man with the hammer “Excuse me, sir, but it appears that you have the best tool for the job. Would you mind taking that hammer of yours and smashing the bottom steps to bits? Also, I didn’t catch either of your names,” she said to both the warrior and the dirty man.
The necromancer pulled himself upright a bit and raised his chin once more. "I am Prozhar the Soulkeeper, High Wizard of the Dead," He said, somehow managing to put more superiority in his tone than before.

As Garth finished scanning the room, his eyes lingered on the faint purple barrier visible through the windows, and a nervous look crossed his face.
"While I'd love to stay and get chummy with our new friends, this here sword does great at cutting stairs. If anyone else happens to have large, melee weapon that is also good at destroying stairs, I'll be that way." Garth said, with a thumb pointed over his shoulder towards the stairs.
WIth that, he turned around and tromped down the stairs. As he neared the bottom, he came to a stop and eyed how much clearance he had above his head for him to swing his sword. Slowly, he raised the sword to eye level and took a deliberate swing at the bottom step.
It's slow going, but the stairs are pretty rundown after the flooding and they eventually break apart under your efforts. (especially if a hammer-wielder helps. Takes 30 minutes with just Garth, 10 minutes with the two of you.)

The man goes to help Garth break the staircase. "The name's Rad, what's your names?" He says in between hammer strikes and the sound of splintering wood. "And which one of you had the crazy idea to come into the center of this undead swarm?"
"I believe our friend Twig suggested it. I didn't really argue though since we were unaware of such danger as we were casually rowed down the river. But that is beside the point. We are here now and we have no choice but to see this through. I am Xavcoril Waf-Flez in polite company but among friends I am Cor. Now I hope that is what we can be since I would rather not worry about enemies within as well as without." Cor says as he pulls his crossbow out and shifts his dagger on his belt to a more accessible position.
"If we live through this, I would love to ask you a few questions Master Prozhar." Cor says glancing at the wizard. Like perhaps why in the nine hells you would raise so many undead!
"Oh, he'll have plenty to answer for once he cleans up this mess." Rad turns over to the newcomers. "So, do you guys just like wandering into swarms of undead or were you sent by someone?"
"I don't know yet if I like wandering into swarms of undead yet, it might take a few more tries to figure out if I like them. But this time we definitely were sent. Master Arbane has requested that we look into why he is not able to view in this part of the Sunken Quarter. Perhaps you can drag your friend to him to answer that question." Cor says to the big man

Well, that was insightful. Maybe I need to get smarter if I want to be a wizard... That sounds hard. I think I am better of just acting smart
