The Barlgura that's now lost the function of it's left eye, grabs the bolt with his mighty paw and rips it free, spewing blood across the cavern floor. With its still useful eye, it looks for the assailant but locks eye with Gremryl instead, who's taunting him madly.
Charging the Paladin, he lunges forward and bites deep into Gremryl's right shoulder dealing 12 points of damage! It attacks again, this time wildly with its right fist but the Dwarf blocks it with his shield. The Barlgura's left fist now comes around with a vicious haymaker and clobbers the Dwarf's right ear for 10 more points of damage!
The Barlgura that took the most damage from Morgana and Elmo's opening volley rears up on both legs and pounds his chest with fury as he howls out in a rage! He charges the Paladin, and Gremryl does his best to prepare for another bout of teeth and fists...but just as the beast comes within striking distance, it makes a powerful leap about 17 feet into the air, sailing well clear of Gremryl, Elmo, Hemeth and on his way past Morgana, targets her with a mighty swing of his right fist! It comes crashing hard on Morgana's chest and sends her flying into the cavern wall for 9 points of damage! The fiend lands between Glabbagool and Leon. Turning to face the now stunned Cleric, the Barlgura lunges forward and sinks his teeth deeply into Leon's shoulder blade, practically crushing the bones with his powerful jaws, dealing 12 points of damage! Bringing his left fist directly into the Cleric's sternum with such force that it literally rips the wind from Leon's lungs for another 12 points of damage and leaves him gasping for breath!
The third Barlgura rushes out from its ambush spot and charges Gremryl, being the first and loudest enemy he sees. When he reaches Gremryl, he rears up on his hind legs and lets out a deafening roar! You all immediately recognize this as a beast that's gone mad with bloodlust and may be more susceptible to attacks now, but also more dangerous with attacks of it's own. Prepared for the worst, Gremryl braces against the approaching lunge of the enemy before him as the Barlgura sinks its teeth into Grem's other shoulder, causing 7 points of damage, and leaving pools of blood around the wound. Bringing his right fist around with a roundhouse to the face, Gremryl manages to duck underneath it quickly enough to miss it completely. The left fist comes straight down on top of the Dwarf's head as if from some comedy show, dealing 11 points of damage and leaving onlookers swearing the Dwarf is now at least 2 inches shorter!
Now having caught his breath, Leon takes a calculated approach to his next action...
Leon spits some blood onto the ground and summons forth his spiritual weapon A spinning ace of spades playing card appears above the Barlgura that attacked him. The spinning card comes at he beast for two attacks 9 and 11 for 9 and 6 damage
Leon turns sideways and pushes his body against the wall. Leon turns towards his allies.
"Does somebody owe this ****er money? Glab... Hemeth...little help? Stool is there anything you can do too little buddy?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Gremryl just got his Dwarven Ass handed to by a ******* fiend? spitting blood and growling like a beast He'll cast Vow of Enmity on the one who is bloodlusted and attacked him like a fiendish savage. (grants advantage on attack rolls
Leon's Spiritual Weapon spins faster and faster but as it tries to slice the hide of the Barlgura, the magical card bounces off harmlessly and only serves to agitate the fiend even more.
Hemeth takes his cue from Gremryl and enlarges himself to a Large-sized Dwarf. Attacking with retribution for the life-threatening harm that these fiends have already caused his Dwarven brother from another mother, he swings down hard with his war pick into the chest of the Barlgura that's standing before Leon, inflicting pain on the enemy with great satisfaction.
Gremryl now breathing heavily after taking a massive beating, takes not more than a moment to gather his strength and focus his next attacks on the Barlgura that looks reckless in its movements. Knowing that these enemies are indeed Fiends, Gremryl is fueled by strength powered with his holy divinity! In a powerful showcase of battle-forged, Dwarven strength, surely making Hemeth quite jealous, swings Benny around not once, but twice! The first lands with a shattering force that destroys the jawbone of the Barlgura dealing a massive 35 points of damage! The second swing comes back around from the other direction and slams directly into the Barlgura's chest, dealing another 26 points of damage and sends the Barlgura flying backward, where it lay some 10 yards away from the mighty Paladin of Moradin!
Stool takes his cue from Leon and attempts to charm the remaining Barlgura into thinking they're surrounded by friends! Unfortunately, the Barlgura are already being in combat and have an advantage against this type of charm effect. Both remaining Barlgura successfully resist the effects of being affected by Stool's Friendship spores!
Glabbagool, who remained motionless as the Barlgura leaped over its companions to land directly in front of it, now sees the perfect opportunity to Engulf the enemy as the fiend's back is turned to it. Having advantage since it was transparent and had gone unnoticed by the Barlgura, a trick that Elmo had taught him, he successfully Engulf's the Barlgura within its body and deals a sizzling amount of damage to the fiend! The enemy can't breathe and is restrained within Glabbagool's form! Leon is horrified at the sight of the Barlgura beginning to dissolve in front of his eyes! Glabbagool, feeling like this particular enemy is strong enough to break free of its hold before being rendered into liquid-meal, moves away from the Cleric to provide some distance from its new companion.
Morgana, now brushing herself off from being slammed to the ground, has an opportunity to continue turning the tide of this battle!
Morgana floats above Hemeth, near the ceiling, and harnesses the magical powers within to channel pure electricity that arcs through the air towards the Barlgura standing in front of Grem...The cavern booms with a loud cracking of thunder as the lightning bolt strikes the Barlgura who braces himself from the bolt with his two very large, muscular arms in a cross! The force deals damage, although again, it's not the level of pain that Morgana had expected. "Is this fiend resistant to fire and lightning damage?" Morgana thinks to herself as she curses the damn dirty apes from her alcove that she's moved back to.
Elmo, patiently biding his time, now finds his time to act!
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Elmo sees The dire straits that his dwarven companion is facing. Inspired by his ferocity in the face of death, As much as Elmo loves his crossbow and the feeling of safety that distance from a savage enemy brings, seeing his friend so close to death inspires him to act. Elmo knows that if he doesn’t steel himself now, he may lose his last chance to act and save his friend.
Using his racial, Elmo stealthily sneaks behind the ape demon and sneak attack’s the beast with 2 magical blades. He shouts insults at the beast to get its attention!
Brave Elmo surveys the battlefield and after carefully plotting his daring plan to shred to threads what's left of the Barlgura's will to live, he takes quick action! Sliding deftly around Gremryl's battle-stance, and nimbly dash-sliding all too close, but safely underneath the hairy taint of the Barlgura, Elmo catches the fiend off-guard! Slicing across the enemy's back with his short sword, he manages to pompously carve out a medium-sized letter "E" that he's actually quite proud of. The Barlgura howls in pain and turns to face Elmo dead-on! Elmo spares no moments for the fiend to gain an upper hand and in a blur of motion, he leaps upwards towards the Barlgura's throat with his Drowcrafted Dagger which deals the lineage-ending blow to this monstrous demon! For a brief pause, nobody moves...then, as if waiting for a cue, hot, blue blood gushes from the Barlgura's neck like a river of demonic essence. The enemy comes crashing down and Elmo finally has a chance to breathe, after the finishing blow was dealt.
It's the final chance for the Barlgura to break free of Glabbagool's body lest he suffer being dissolved to nothingness before he can act again! With a (nat20) cavern-shaking roar, even through Glabbagool's body, and a tremendous amount of demonic strength, he ruptures Glabbagool in multiple areas and breaks free! Glab is dealt 3 points of damage in the process. Its eyes burn red with anger and it too becomes reckless until it's next turn, granting advantage to its attacks and advantage to any attacks targeting it.
The Barlgura springs forward towards the Cleric, who at this very moment is thinking "This just ain't my lucky day, is it?". Lunging at a speed that Leon can't hope to dodge, the Barlgura sinks its teeth into Leon's neck and tears a gruesome chunk of flesh and muscle from the Cleric's dealing 13 points of damage! The amount of blood lost causes Leon to lose consciousness. Another cavern shaking roar leads into a mighty leap forward, smashing Hemeth in the face with his right fist dealing 11 points of damage and landing behind Gremryl who doesn't have enough time to react! Fangs bared and left fist coming down with a massive blow to Gremryl's back deals a painful 10 points of damage! The blow knocks the light from Gremryl's eyes as he loses consciousness as well. Roaring in anger and now beating its chest with both fists, the Barlgura hangs on to life through sheer demonic force of strength.
Hemeth, feeling the intense pain left on his face by the soon to be impaled Barlgura, roars back into the face of the demon with blind rage, desiring nothing more than the utter destruction this creature! With both hands and great strength, Hemeth swings his war pick from right to left and impales the Barlgura's face with such force that its skull caves in from the front and erupts from the back, causing brain matter to spray out across the cavern walls. Hemeth pulls free his war pick and the beast slumps lifelessly to the ground before him.
Congratulations!!!!! With a heavy toll on the party, the Barlgura have been defeated! Leon and Gremryl are unconscious and require medical attention as soon as possible!
"Grem, quit screwing around and get the cleric back on his feet! I only have magic that kills, not the kind that reverse kills...whats that called...HEALS!"
"where are they! Let me back at those baboonish orcs! ... let.. me .. what.. oh. We got them. Serves those fiends right.... Last I remember Elmo was sliding under that Apes Rollies. Everyone ok?"
He see's Leon:
"Moradins Heart, no!" He'll stumble over and place his hand on the clerics chest "ye not the only one who can heal Lad."
"moradins blessing upon ye.. may ye rise back from the veil of death and return to the living by moradins will" I'll cast Lay on hands for 15 Hps to get him up and at 'em.
After doing that, Gremryl stands up shakily.. and walks over to the nearest ape.. and taps it with Benny and nods..
Morgana's Investigation check of the dead Barlgura:
Morgana searches through the bodies looking for anything of perceived value. The hides look particularly valuable, and Morgana recognizes that she hasn't had the opportunity to skin anything in a few months so...
Also, on general principal, I'll see if I can harvest some body parts from the dead demons. Maybe I can craft them into something later. Some of that spell turning fur, some teeth and claws, etc. What can I gather DM?
To Stool: "You ok, little buddy?"
to Glab: "How you feeling, my slimy friend? A demon kinda exploded out of you. Are you built to take that kind of an ass kicking?"
