Just as you all reach the West Passage cave, leading out of Velkynvelve, a giant Vrock demon comes crashing down in front of the group, blocking their exit. It doesn't appear to be threatening you, although it is blocking your exit.
If anybody were to look back, you'd see some of the other slaves making their way to shore...but there's a lot of thrashing in the water, and you can make out the screams of someone, but you can't recognize who...
Morgana sees that the demon creature's right arm has been badly wounded. You suspect it's from the battle raging on between the vrock demons and the chasme demons, above you.
Upon hearing your Abyssal greeting, he turns his neck to face you more attentively. Through telepathy he response back with, "You are but a speck of water amidst a rising tidal wave of demonic powers, young sorcerer! Death is your only future in the Underdark!"
It seems to be regaining its strength, but for what, you're not sure.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
I'll continue to address the demon "I'm sure you are correct about my demise in the under dark. However, being demon spawn myself, perhaps we can come to an accord before fate has it's way with me. It seems to me that you have been injured during your righteous struggles against your enemies. I'd like to offer you healing so that you can rejoin the battle and unleash your fury on those more deserving than us little specks. Plus, there are many heretical Drow hereabouts with lots of treasure for you to plunder if you accept my offer and head on your way. What say ye, friend?" And I'll roll a persuasion check if that will make a difference. 6
Gremryl looks around obviously not understanding what they are saying, but having spent much of his life in the underground, can sense he should keep his mouth shut. He just keeps staring at the Drow Tower, watching for those elevator.
The demon appears to think briefly on the offer...spreading his wings and standing as tall as he’s able to, it speaks to Morgana telepathically.
”Your nothing. Not even worth the breath I’m not wasting right now!”
Pausing again as if noticing something that wasn’t there or perhaps it didn’t expect to see. Peering closer and more deeply, he speaks telepathically to Morgana once more.
”Yeeessss...nothing are you in this moment. Though power I see you will attain...great power is possible, maybe... Your future is one that branches greatly. Hah! A few of them I find myself tearing your face off of your body and feeding your soul to my subordinates!”
It takes off in a mighty gust of wind that kicks up enough dust to make it hard to see.
As it furiously ascends into the air and you watch as it catches a Chasme demon by the throat and rips spine out. Then tossing the carcass back down to the cavern ground.
”Trust nothing.” It says before never being seen again.

"That was the most terrifying thing I've ever witnessed..." Elmo trails off... "He say anthing of interest?"
Is there anything blocking out escape now? If not... "Hey Grumpy (to Grem) you coming or are you waiting for a dance with those drow coming down the lift? I imagine that even if we flee down that passage way now, you'll have no shortage of dance partners in your immediate future."
do I see a vulnerable mechanism operating the lift? A rope or exposed gear for example. Here is a perception check: 24
Is there a way that a ranged attack could cause critical failure of the elevator and death for its inhabitants?
The lift doesn’t appear to have any identifiable point of weakness. Looking that way, however, you see a couple of Quaggoths and a Drow making their way towards you. They’re still off in the distance a ways though.
There’s nothing else blocking your way to to the West Passage cave exit.
As you all begin to make your way into the cave passage, a few of the other slaves that survived the chaos come running up behind you, ask seeking escape. Glancing back as you run forward, you see Sarith, Stool, Buppido, the Shushaar and Prince Derendil.
Running deeper into the cavern, not knowing how to navigate down here and knowing that you need to find a safe place to (long) rest, you come across an area mostly hidden with overgrown mushrooms. This appears to be a safe place to rest as far as you can tell.
CONGRATS ON YOUR ESCAPE!! You’ve all enought experience to attain level 3! Take a Long rest and update your character sheets with your shiny new spells and abilities!!
Replying to Elmo: "He said that he is very afraid of the incredible power that I wield. He apologized for his intrusion into our affairs and offered to cover us as we make good our escape. Keep that in mind and continue to follow my instructions, little man!"
As we wake from our long rest, have any of the other NPC's joined us?
After a long rest, while taking shifts to stay on watch for threats, you take careful note of your surroundings and decide how to move forward. You know that you're miles beneath the surface, and none of you have any knowledge of the passageways that connect each of the regions that make up the Underdark. Some of your fellow (former) slaves have previously shared their knowledge of how to get to certain locations. You may inquire with them again to refresh your memory if you wish.
The Underdark is known for its endless maze of passages and caverns. Travel through these ways will be difficult and you'll have to decide on the following things before moving forward:
1. Destination - You've heard of Neverlight Grove from Sarith and Stool, Gracklstugh from Buppido, and Sloobludop from Shuushar. These are also (conveniently) the only NPC's that made their escape with you, through the West Passage.
2. Marching formation - Some parts of these cavern passageways allow you to fit two abreast, while other areas require a single-file formation. Decide the order for both of these formations as they will have consequences when you come across various encounters along your way.
3. Speed - You may choose to travel slow, at a normal pace, or fast. Traveling slowly grants you better awareness of possible dangerous situations you come across with the trade-off of taking longer to arrive at your destination. A normal speed, grants neither benefit nor disadvantage. Traveling at a fast pace, as you would expect, puts you at a disadvantage in certain encounters however you will spend less time getting to your destination.
Other things to consider - you will be responsible for eating a day's worth of rations or suffer consequences of malnourishment. Most (if not all) of you had daily rations that you should have picked back up from your gear back in the Guard Tower. I'll trust you to consume one per day and I'll call out when each day has passed to give you time to rest, although, without any natural sunlight, you're really only guessing.
Congrats again on escaping slavery - welcome to the long, treacherous cavern-maze that is the Underdark!
I'd like to ask each NPC to give me details on their suggested locations and tell me why they think we should go there.
In terms of walking speed, I suggest a normal pace.
In terms of formation, I suggest the stout dwarf goes first to scout out problems. I'd like to be in the middle because I am versatile and can deal with problems in front of us or behind us. I think the rouge should bring up the rear while staying hidden so as to spot and call out anything that may be sneaking up on us.
Gremryl is good with it. Keep in mind he won’t be stealthy And creatures of the under dark will be greeted with steel quicker than words Gents. but as a former Soldier he knows his place...but..
"Aye.. judging by my keen sense of distance measuring..its only like 90 dwarven paces to the mouth of the passage! Hop to it!!"
Gremryl looks at the tower again.. seeing the elevator .. and starts pounding sand after Morgana!

All of you roll a Perception check.

Depending on what my perception check tells me, I'd like to converse with the demon if possible saying "Greetings fellow dark one!"

(You see nothing additional to what Morgana sees)

Under her breath: "Whatever you say, chump."
To the party as she enters the western tunnel: "Let's boogie, boys!"

having witnessed the foul creature fly off... Gremryl mumbles.. "I could of taken that foul beast"...
But he follows along and during this long rest precedes to use holy power to cleanse the poop off his armor and weapons!!
