But.. I didn't post because Rodolfo isn't really sure. Also, doesn't Jimjar have an input in this situation? I wouldn't know how to roleplay that part, not knowing his deeper background.
Well, as you turn around to ask Jimjar, he's gone. He was with you when you were climbing the stairs... Wonder what happened?
I bet you a gold piece that he owes money to these dark gnomes the party is talking to.

Gaining access to Blingdenstone requires a successful Persuasion check, and right now given the conversation and the company you keep, it is impossible to beat the DC until you do stuff to bring it down. So I'm not even rolling the dice.
Your options:
Find the entrance to Whiteshell Mines. 1 random encounter roll
Find the entrance to the Pickshine Mines. 1 random encounter roll
> Starting at 2nd level when you select this school, you can temporarily alter the physical properties of one nonmagical object, changing it from one substance into another. You perform a special alchemical procedure on one object composed entirely of wood, stone (but not a gemstone), iron, copper, or silver, transforming it into a different one of those materials. For each 10 minutes you spend performing the procedure, you can transform up to 1 cubic foot of material. After 1 hour, or until you lose your concentration (as if you were concentrating on a spell), the material reverts to its original substance.
Would this work on this tunnel? I understand tunnel wall isn't exactly "one object", but still.
The intent was never to have you help building another tunnel, but if that is how you want to proceed I can go that way. Your Minor Alchemy is an alchemical procedure, so I imagine you need ingredients and getting those ingredients is just as much a problem solving activity as helping these gnomes mine their salt.
A cubic foot every 10 minutes means that Rodolfo, working 8 hours non-stop, will make a tunnel 2’ deep (about 5’ high and wide) every day. That will take him months to do what they need, if not longer.
Good to think outside the box, but the scale of the problem is too big.

It would take us one shift to mine our quota if we had access to the high quality salt and return to Blingdenstone. If you are looking to help, then you can choose: Help dig a tunnel to bypass the ooze highway. Or help us mine the less good salt. Or offer your own solution to this problem of ours.
Ok so then I'm at a loss for what is expected of us here.
I mean of course we could mine lower quality salt for a day, but that seems.. non-optimal in long term.
We could try investigating the faceless god stuff further, but it seems fairly dangerous.
Maybe lets check out the fissure and see what the ooze traffic is like in the first place.
I don't want to lead you, so I left this pretty open. I forget if I said, but the gnomes would need 1 shift to get enough good quality salt to fill their quota. They just need to get past the oozes on the way in, and on the way out.
What was quoted above is the foreman speaking, who is thinking within the means of every day gnomes. He doesn't know what your party is capable of.
Checking in. I'm still around. Waiting for responses.
Tbh I've lost the link / notifications of the gameplay thread...
Strange. I don't know how to fix that.
Right, never mind, found it: https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/play-by-post/27393-official-thread-out-of-the-abyss-by-kerrec?page=135

Still around - this working from home stuff sucks

Your options:
There's also the narrow tunnel behind the stairs that goes up, but I have a feeling this would end us up in a prison one way or another.
There would normally be traffic in and out of Blingdenstone, but I don't see any value in roleplaying that.
You can spend the night next to the gate.
Where do you decide to go to next?
All the options seem pretty similar.. so lets go with option number: 2. Whiteshell Mines
Blingdenstone encounters: 12
Next post will probably be a big one and I'm having difficulty finding even a bit of time to be at the PC. Will get to it ASAP.
Oh boy - several months of tunnel digging RP! :P
