Hmm I dunno this Black Pudding seems different than the others - none of them have cast spells at us before - I'm afraid if we just leave it and take off that we'll just have an angry black pudding chasing us.

Tabaxi with a penchant for shenans. He will....shenan again...
On the other hand, if we pull out after the gnomes and it's forced to chase us, then it has to leave it's Darkness spell to do so (unless it cast it on itself or something I suppose), which would make it easier for us to actually attack it.
As ArgentTheWise points out, this black pudding seems to be special. We should probably continue paper-cutting it to death. (If the DM is finding this tedious, then maybe everyone take some minor damage, in exchange for skipping the next few rounds of combat?)
After my roll, I realized that I should have done a normal attack roll. Advantage (from glob restrained) and disadvantage (from darkness) cancel out.
And I just noticed that Ray of Frost does not require being able to see the target, which some spells like Sacred Flame do require. Maybe Narstin should find a pile of rocks and join Skameros & Beegred. (I like the idea that the 3 dummies have resorted to stoning the monster, while the intelligent Rodolfo is still using his brain.)
Beegred Thornpost - Lvl 8 Halfling Ranger - Out of the Abyss by Kerrec Drusk - Lvl 8 Half-Orc Life Cleric - The Long Road: Dragon Heist by Mingofaust (player & current DM) Hunferho Aelorothi - Lvl 5 Half-Elf Bard/Rogue - Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus (by Pokepaladdy) DM - Frontier City of Nunkreet (ended)
I only proposed the option because I was worried you find this fight tedious. BUT, there could be repercussions to leave it where it is... didn't think that far to be honest.
My vote is that they would try to kill this dangerous ooze, even at the risk of more oozes showing up (as long as the newcomers aren’t too dangerous).
I’m fine with skipping past the actual dice rolling for the rest of this fight, or continuing if others want to.

I don't see the point in spending another few days making posts of thrown rocks at a creature that can't move and can't attack. I will pick this up again on Monday, if I don't get to it during the weekend.
I agree. I can't think of anything obvious that the party should do differently. Beegred will remember to have a suitable throwing rock in one hand, sword in the other.
(Unless there are large salt crystals that the gnomes don't want. Maybe Skameros would like to throw them, like a medieval version of a shotgun loaded with rock salt.)

Yeah pretty much what everyone else said - though Skameros didn't take any damage etc so he doesn't need a short rest - he's ready to head back and repeat the process again at the ooze cruise

If Rodolfo wants to take a short rest, he can do so before we get started on the return encounters.
The mechanics work the same. The gnome train is divided into 4 quarters. I will roll for a possible encounter for each quarter, the DC getting easier each time no encounter occurs.
First quarter, DC 15: 9
Place yourselves on the map (give me a coordinate). Remember you're coming from the south.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Second quarter, DC 13: 19
Since you have the wand, I'm going to raise the stakes here and give you 4 rounds before I roll for the third quarter encounter (and again for the fourth quarter at 8 rounds)
I will roll initiative once you all tell me where you will be placed to defend the gnome train.
Beegred will go for O14 or N14. He is trying to shield the others coming from the southwest (even the gnomes). At least to start, always a Dodge action.

I'm fine either way - as long as there are rocks to throw I can keep copy/pasting the rock throwing formula :)

Narstin can certainly join the rock-throwing party

No comments on the last post. I'm going to assume you all take a short rest? Do you have any plans for the return or same routine?
I mean it seemed to work somewhat fine, so no point in changing what works.

Narstin is also good whenever we're ready to go.
Was Rodolfo going to use hit dice to heal up? (He got hit by an acid arrow, right?)

Rodolfo would be on J11. He got healed twice and will use one hit dice to heal up the last missing health point.
Narstin will start at J12 by Rodolfo
