I thought this was the "any amount of Advantages cancels out any amount of Disadvantages" mechanism. Since you are home-brewing traits-for-inspiration, it works however you want it to work, RAW be damned.
I will have to check later which character traits haven't been used so far (2nd time around). I'll post at that time.

Okay, one of Beegred's traits is: "We have to take care of each other, because no one else is going to do it."
If his current actions count (trying to keep the medusa focused on him instead the others), then I'll use the inspiration right away for that gaze saving throw. I'll put it in a spoiler so it won't be seen before the DM rules on inspiration.
CON save: 14 Phew... I was worried that it would be another failure.

I would say that taking the risk of keeping your eye on her and calling out where she is for the others that may not be looking also qualifies for that Trait.
Rodolfo looks around the area for anything that would possibly help in the fight - possibly a reflecting surface or anything other interesting. The idea is to grab everything interesting, stuff it into a bag and run back out.
The description for the Medusa's lair is as follows:
The adornments in this chamber would be more at home in a drow city. Spider-themed tapestries, fine zurkhwood furniture, and racks of expensive clothing fill the area, all of it old and rotted.
The notes about treasure only mention:
Five of the dresses in Neheedra’s rack are made of spider silk shaped by drow magic.
A Medusa has INT and WIS above 10, so I'd rule she's smart enough to have destroyed or defaced anything reflective anywhere she is prone to travel.
So all Rodolfo will find are old rotted tapestries, rotted furniture, rotted clothing and 5 dresses in good condition.
Hey guys. It's holiday time, and COVID is still a thing. Not expecting any posts until the new year. But I will keep an eye on the threads and keep things moving if I can.
@Narstin: If you had prepared before hand, I would have allowed it. But I wouldn't say the natural state of the inside of your shield is so shiny it's reflective.

No worries. Figured that would be the case, but was worth asking.
Beegred's only hope is that he rolls better next round for the CON save. Unless the medusa had her back turned (and wasn't looking at him) since she was attacking Narstin.

I saw this last night and just didn't want to deal with it. But it has to be done...
Beegred rolled a total of 9 on his CON Saving Throw for a DC 14 check with advantage... and the Medusa text says, "...If the saving throw fails by 5 or more, the creature is instantly petrified."
You can still lean on your Features, Traits, Ideals, Bonds and Flaws to get an inspiration and roll one last time. You've already used "We have to take care of each other...", leaving you with the other 4.

Yeah, I forgot about the "fail by 5" part.
I think the obvious Personality Trait to use in this situation is: "I face problems head-on. A simple, direct solution is the best path to success." I think going nose-to-nose with a medusa matches this description... except for the "best path to success" part.
Desperation CON roll: 18
(Given that roll, Beegred also hits with his short sword attack action.
I suggest in the main thread that a girlish falsetto scream escape from Beegred, when he thought he was looking directly into the medusa's petrifying gaze.)

Reminder: Skameros's turn.
Gotta love when you roll with disadvantage and get a 7 and a 6 on your attack rolls :(

So I know the front of my shield wouldn't be reflective since I painted it with my holy symobl, but would the back be reflective enough to be of use?
@Narstin: If you had prepared before hand, I would have allowed it. But I wouldn't say the natural state of the inside of your shield is so shiny it's reflective.
I am back to work, so I should be able to monitor the thread regularly. Waiting on VanderLegion/Narstin to act.
No worries. Figured that would be the case, but was worth asking.
@ Vanderlegion: Sorry to pester, but I find it odd you posted here in OOC but didn't play your turn. Are you aware it's your turn?
I was going to play my turn shortly thereafter then was having issues with the webisite not working for me. OMW to figure out what I'm doing now

Since you are choosing to look directly at her instead of swinging blind, I'd say that applies. I will update this evening.
If you peer through the crystal and make attacks, you have to do so with disadvantage.
Hmm, what's the difference then? Without peering at all and shooting blindly would also be with disadvantage, right?
that's kind of why Skameros is just swinging blindly instead of having to futz with a crystal (plus his great axe is two handed)
Maybe I should just try and grapple her instead

Anyways, I added another roll to the post and rather expectedly it failed..
